Jen Boring In The Psaki - Does it get any more hypocrtical?

Hardly. https://ustvdb.com/networks/msnbc/shows/briefing-jen-psaki/ 2nd most popular show on MSNBC. Shall I accuse you of lying again? -

I like her show. She’s very thoughtful and informative and I generally agree with her POV. -
No the fault is yours and your asinine insistence on trying to mass deport millions of people, We tried to warn you that this wouldn’t work and that even the attempt would lead to unacceptable, unAmerican consequences. YOU are responsible.
-
No Im not. The point is that just because it’s illegal to come here and attempt to stay without proper papers doesn’t mean we have to deport them. We don’t. We can decide not to. We can fine them and it won’t be ignoring the law. That’s why I compared them to jaywalkers. We’re only deporting nonviolent people right now because it’s what YOU want. But we’re not forced to do it, and I don’t think we should.

Perhaps, perhaps not. It all depends.

US Federal Government Shutdown Thread
The Real timschochet replied to squistion's topic in The Geek Club
It’s actually your responses that are pathetic. The House passed a bill that they knew beforehand would be unacceptable to the Senate. It was a pointless gesture. If the House wants to end the shutdown they need to go back in session and pass a new bill which would be acceptable to the Senate- one which extends the ACA benefits. They could do it in a few hours time. They won’t. In addition, Mike Johnson won’t bring the House into session because that would immediately lead to a vote on the Epstein discharge bill which apparently will be highly embarrassing for Donald Trump. This whole thing is on the Republicans and most of the public knows this: https://thehill.com/homenews/house/5572376-public-opinion-republican-shutdown/amp/ -
You just implied that deportation is the standard punishment for someone coming here without proper documents. I just demonstrated to you that it wasn’t. If I wanted to behave the way you always do to me, I would now call you a liar. But I won’t because I’m not an a$$hole. I’ll just say you were proven wrong. Of course you’ll never admit it because you behave like a petulant child- another difference between you and I.

US Federal Government Shutdown Thread

Then don’t blame Democrats. Blame the folks you support. -
Except that there is no standard penalty for entering the country illegally. It ranges from a $50 fine to 2 years imprisonment, depending. https://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/8/1325 It’s certainly not always rounding up and deportation. That’s what YOU want but it’s not the law.

Non-citizens are not the same as undocumented immigrants. That’s the flaw in your link, which is highly deceptive. You shouldn’t fall for it.

The House could pass a bill right now extending the ACA benefits. Then the Senate would pass it and the shutdown would be over. -
Jaywalking is illegal too. Shall we round up all jaywalkers and throw them in detention camps? Deport them?
-
Guessing both.
-
The Democrats can’t do this without surrendering on healthcare. The Republicans CAN do this. All they need to do is agree to extend the ACA benefits. They’re going to do it anyhow. They might as well do it now.

1. Absolutely true that we need immigrants to work in agriculture, food services, and other jobs that pay below minimum wage. If you don’t want them to be undocumented, then allow them in legally and give the ones already here legal status. 2. Not sure where you got “the white guys” from. Seems pretty racist. There is plenty of fraud in SNAP, I detailed it above. Very little comes from undocumented immigrants because the documents are too difficult to forge for the return offered. As far as someone like me helping, how am I supposed to secure fake I-94s and medical records? You have a vivid imagination. 3. You’re correct. I’m not a liar. And you haven’t caught me lying. Neither has @supermike80 who also makes this constant accusation. It’s crap.

There are plenty of people in blue states on SNAP and TANF. However we take care of our own. Most blue states have emergency plans in place so that nobody loses benefits. Most of the states you listed do not. It will be interesting to see how they react. Even so I hate this. Blue or red I don’t want anyone to suffer.
-
No you haven’t

It’s very easy to find out the truth about all the paperwork you need to get SNAP benefits. https://www.cdss.ca.gov/food-nutrition/calfresh Read up. Don’t take my word for it. It’s all there. After you read it, think about how hard it would be to forge all the necessary documents.

You know nothing about me. I helped them for three reasons: first because I could. After my parents and brother died I became financially well off and had the means to help causes I believe in. I wanted to be personally involved, not just send money somewhere. Second, because even before the election last year I became sick to death of the growing anti-immigrant sentiment in this country. Frankly people with views like yours sicken me and I wanted to fight back any way I could. Third because when my father came to this country at age 13, a Holocaust survivor and a refugee from the horrors of Soviet Communism, he and my grandparents were helped out by a family in Long Beach whom they did not know and who owed them nothing (part of a group at the time of Jewish American volunteers.) I wanted to return the favor. I’m sure you’ll choose to believe none of this @jonnyutah and I really don’t care. It’s all true. F you if you imply otherwise.
-
Maybe. All I am saying is that, based on the amount of paperwork I saw and the limited amount of reward, it doesn’t really seem worth it for a lot of people to take advantage.
-
Thanks but I wasn’t looking for plaudits. I wish I could do more. That program was terrific. My entire family volunteered to help out this Afghan family- we found them an apartment, got the kids into school, helped them get Snap, helped the parents find work. We still see them, still help them out as much as we can. It’s probably the most rewarding experience of my life.
-
No big deal? It’s not nearly enough. The average rate I pay day laborers is around $60 an hour. It’s gone up from $50 in the last year. Not that it’s at all relevant to this discussion.
-
I don’t think he understands anything about this. Last year I helped a family of refugees from Afghanistan obtain SNAP benefits. (I was a part of Welcome Corp, a wonderful Biden program for refugees which Trump killed.) The amount of paperwork to get the SNAP benefits was long and exhausting. Birth certificates, certified health records, I-94 papers. There is no way any undocumented immigrant can get these. It’s a total lie. This family of that I worked with 5 received $1600 a month in total benefits. That’s all. And you guys think people are taking advantage of this?

I don’t go around documenting my political thoughts for future reference. That’s your game not mine. As for shutting up, I encourage you to purchase this forum from its current ownership so that you can dictate who gets to post.
