No this is not correct. Democrats are not objecting to the cuts so much as the way he is doing the cuts by exceeding his legal authority. And the public didn’t give Trump any mandate for that.

With any of it. I don’t agree that our two choices are either a committee or a quick slash. I don’t like “either-or choices”. If Trump had said “I’m appointing Elon Musk to study these agencies, and after 3 months he’s going to recommend a series of cuts, and I am ordering him to focus on cutting wasteful spending but keeping all the good stuff, and then we are going to submit it to Congress for approval since I don’t have the power to do this myself” I would have been fine with that. Thats the way this should be done.

I don’t care if they were lying before or hypocritical or whatever. I know I wasn’t. I said then and I will repeat now: tariffs are bad. Trump’s tariffs in 2017 were awful. Biden’s tariffs in 2021 were just as bad. The new tariffs will be far worse than any before since 1930.

Your question was for somebody else but personally I think it would be a bad move for Democrats to shut down the government. On the other hand, if Republicans in the House need Democratic votes as a result of extreme conservatives refusing to vote for a governmental package, then it’s not unreasonable for Democrats to make some demands or refuse to vote for things they absolutely don’t agree with. If Republicans refuse to compromise then it would be Republicans, not Democrats, shutting things down. IMO.

Look it’s going to happen anyhow within the limits of the law. I think some of this is going to be stopped by the courts because there are contracts involved and Congress will have a say as well. But in the long run, even if it takes a few months rather than a few days, USAID is going to be gone. Democrats can’t stop it. So we will see if this turns out to be a good thing. I have strong doubts but we’re going to find out.

I don’t think any of these moves are going to save anyone money. I think the amount of people put out of work will actually cost us more money.

“Discuss” being the operative word? How about we discuss it, and decide whether this should be done, and if not, how to wean off of it instead of abruptly shutting things down and hurting a lot of industry and people? Again I am not opposed at all to many of things that Trump and Musk are doing here. I’m opposed to the way they’re doing them. I think it’s being done too quickly, without thought or planning, and the results will be chaotic and create much unnecessary pain IMO.

You mean the European Union. And they may have had other reasons for doing it. Still if it continues I will absolutely concede that this was a good move by Trump. Lower tariffs, more free trade is a good thing and however we get there I’m all for it. But as of now I’m not convinced. If you listen to Trump talk on this subject it’s pretty clear that he does not regard tariffs as a means to eliminate or lower other tariffs.

My thoughts are based on what I saw: great pass rush, great offensive line, very good QB with running skills, great running back, very good at stopping the run. If I were building the perfect football team from scratch the Eagles would be close to that team.

You’re right to an extent. I want free trade from the USA no matter what other nations do. I think it hurts us to do otherwise. I don’t believe the other nations will give in, and change their habits; history has shown they will only retaliate more. In any case I don’t want to punish the American consumer. You may be willing to pay more but too many businesses are hurt that way.

No because those Giants teams were not as good as this Eagles team. Im no Philly fan (perish the thought!) but I think you’re looking at this from the wrong perspective. I think the 2024 Eagles are going to go down as one of the great teams in NFL history.

Well I’m a fairly big fan of her last 4 albums (I think Folklore in particular is as good as any album in the last 40 years or so) and I flew to Amsterdam with my family to see her in concert, so I feel like I know about her a little…but the assumption that shes she’s not as thin skinned as Trump is easy to make because, frankly, there’s almost NO ONE as thin skinned as Trump.

Even Tom Brady lost a couple of Superbowls to great pass rushes. It’s tough to win when there are defensive ends in your face the entire game no matter how great a QB you are.
