Completely wrong. California was a purple state way past Reagan. It wasn’t until the 90s that we became a blue state, as a a reaction to Prop 187, an anti- immigrant measure. Reagan’s amnesty created a decades long economic boon that the nation continues to enjoy.

In all seriousness, I think the conservative disparagement of Fauci is shameful. I don’t think he did anything wrong, I don’t think he’s responsible for any deaths, and I think his work during both the AIDs crisis and Covid saved millions of lives. I honestly believe this, and I think he should go down in history as one of our greatest Americans. Whether he will or not depends on whether conservatives and MAGA win the messaging war. I think they’re spreading falsehoods about him as an alternative to the real villains of the Covid era; starting with Donald Trump and ending with anyone who urged people not to take the vaccine.

You’re right, I didn’t know about USAID. Neither did you. Neither did, I’m betting, anyone reading this. But I DID know about George W. Bush’s work on helping with AIDs in Africa. I knew that we saved 25 million people over there. I didn’t know the exact name of the agency that did it. Now I do. I think it’s kind of important to keep that agency going. Sorry if you disagree. I don’t really care what anyone else, on “my side” or “your side” is crying about. And any grifters can go fock themselves. This isn’t about that.

You don’t remove the whole thing just to remove the corruption. If there is corruption (I expect it’s grossly overstated) you find a way to remove that without harming the rest of it.

I detest Trump but if I was there I would not boo. I personally think that at a public gathering booing the President is disrespectful to the office. On the other hand he is a disgrace to that office so I couldn’t cheer either. I would stay silent.

I’d love to get rid of all the fraud and corruption. But not at the expense of the good stuff, and there’s a lot of good stuff. USAID in particular. As for the rest of your post there’s too much wrong with it, from my perspective, to go over it. I believe you have a very warped view of government and society in general.

They are not dying “by the thousands”, nor are they being persecuted by the state. There are 4.5 million white South Africans. They represent 7% of the population, and they own 70% of all land.
