  1. It’s probably wise of you to express any discontent you have with something Trump does before January. Later on this sort of dissension may get you into trouble.

They’re talking recess appointments. Lisa Murkowski may vote publicly against Donald Trump. I’ll be very surprised if any other Republican Senator does during the next four years. That goes doubly for the House. It’s going to be rubber stamp time.

Elon Musk is reportedly considering buying MSNBC from Comcast‼️

Thanks for the response. Normally the term “classical liberal” is used to define someone who is more libertarian. I think the term you might be thinking of is “traditional liberal” which would more describe somebody who generally believes the government should help the unfortunate among us in various ways. I find it interesting that 100% of your description of far leftists are non- economic. Again the traditional definition of a far leftist is someone like AOC or Bernie Sanders. While neither of them is a Communist both of them want much greater government involvement in economics than we have now. But you are focused on non-economic issues. I don’t think your definition feels right to me. Personally I am very much pro-business, believe in the free marketplace. But I am also sympathetic to many woke issues, including transgender rights. Under your definition I am far leftist and I’m quite positive that’s not accurate.

Looks like every one of Trump’s appointments will sail through. The Republican senators will abandon their duty to advise and consent. “Whatever Trump wants.”

Hey man I was rushed yesterday.
  7. Confirming what? I got suspended all the time. I didn’t get permabanned because I was never that egregious. Guys like Tony were constantly rude to others (he still is.) I wasn’t. And Gekko had some serious issues (still does.)
  8. Obviously you read the thread. Just like you read all my threads. You and @Strike are my biggest fans.
  9. Lol total bullsh!t. So is what you wrote and what @Strike wrote. But why should I be surprised? The two of you lie all the time.

Thanks @jerryskids when I have time I will watch the whole interview. But two problems with your summary immediately come to mind: 1. In the entire history of tariffs so far as I know, they have never been used successfully as a means to get other nations to lower their tariffs. In fact is always the opposite: once it starts it forces other nations to increase theirs as both retaliation and a means to try and make up the lost income. See both Smoot/Harley and the British Empire around 1900. 2. I’ve listened quite a bit to Donald Trump on this subject. I’m almost 100% convinced this is not brinksmanship. He’s been in favor of tariffs since the early 1980s when he wanted them placed on Japan. For him this is a core principle (or as close as he has ever had one of those). Tariffs are not a means to an end; they are the end. He honestly believes that they will create great prosperity and wealth for this country.

    Harris for CA Gov?

Years ago a VP lost a Presidential election and two years later ran for a governor of California and lost. 6 years after that, Richard Nixon was elected President.
  12. I apologized about a month later, my information was wrong. I didnt realize he slipped her Quaaludes. I didn’t know he was aware she was underage. I thought it was more of a Jimmy Page type thing (though even that, in retrospect, was reprehensible.) In any case I was totally wrong.
  13. Yeah I’m horrible because I point out your total hypocrisy. About 10 years ago I made an uninformed comment about Polanski, for which I’ve apologized several times. You’ve brought up dozens of times since then, behaving like a total a$$hole. You’ve followed me from thread to thread doing it for years. Such a jerk. Now your hero nominates a dude for attorney general who has done the exact same thing as Polanski. Probably worse. And you’ve got nothing to say about it. That’s why you’re a hypocrite and a moron. It would be better for you if you simply acknowledged it and moved on with your life. There’s always room for self-realization and improvement, even for you.
  14. I have to run away because I’m tied up today and won’t be able to post. But you failed to answer my question. The only correct answer you could have offered was something to the effect of “you’re right; I guess I’m a hypocrite and a moron.”
  15. You didn’t answer my question, and your ability for intelligent conversation is consistently lacking.

You mean the Bill Clinton who helped to establish Ukraine’s independence from the former USSR and promised that the USA would always defend it from future Russian aggression?
  17. Dude I got it before. It doesn’t change the fact that this is probably the most embarrassing appointment in political history which is saying a lot. The reporting this morning is that it has no chance of actually going through, but of THAT I’m not so sure. One should never underestimate the capacity of Republican senators to make total fools of themselves in order to show fealty to Trump.
  18. I laughed. It’s terrible for the country but it’s also like watching Dumb and Dumber.
  19. Once Congress has been set on fire and an Enabling Act has been passed this will no longer be an issue.

Trump appoints Tulsi Gabbard as Director of National intelligence

I picture Tulsi in her room with posters of Putin, Assad, and Shaun Cassidy on her wall, dreamily writing in her diary: “Maybe NOW Vlad will notice me! Don says he asked about me…could it be true??”
  21. If he does it in a way that brings peace, security and prosperity to that battered land, more power to him. I hope he can.

    If Trump wins

I still don’t think Trump is going to win, but he’s tied in the polls and the momentum for now appears to be on his side. So I have to consider it a strong possibility. Ugh. Even so I remain an optimist. Here’s what I think and hope if that happens: 1. Trump has promised a 20% tariff on all imports from all countries, higher on China. My friend @jerryskids assures me this will never actually happen, that it’s simply a starting point in a negotiation to get other countries to trade with us more fairly. So I’m going to hope that he is right about this. Or, if he is wrong, I’m going to trust that the immediate economic backlash of such actions will force Trump to withdraw the tariffs shortly after he has enforced them. 2. Trump has promised to institute mass deportation of undocumented immigrants. For that he needs money, tons of it, and the willingness of Congress to go along. Ultimately he won’t get it. There will be a lot of fear and IMO bad results as he reinstates some of the awful executive orders from his previous term. Eventually we will have a more comprehensive solution to this issue but that will have to wait. 3. We will cut off aid to Ukraine. That WILL happen and it likely means Ukraine will have to concede large areas of territory to Russia ala the Munich conference of 1938. Trump may also pull out of NATO. Trump may also refuse to defend Taiwan and refuse to defend South Korea. Expect an isolationist push around the world, except for Israel which we will unequivocally support no matter what actions they take. Conservatives apparently believe this will make us safer (or at least it won’t harm us). I doubt that but I will hope they’re right. 4. Trump will seek a tax cut but he’ll only get one if the House stays Republican, which is a 50/50 bet. Either way so long as the tariffs and trade war are avoided the economy should continue to improve as we are a robust nation and capitalism works. Trump will take credit but I don’t care; I want good things to happen always and it disgusts me when people, including those on my side, root for bad things to happen because the wrong guy is President. So hopefully the economy booms. But if Trump gets his tariffs you can throw that all out the window. 5. Liberals fear that Trump will end our democracy. I’ve never believed this. He is an authoritarian and he will attempt to weaponize the DOJ (no it is not weaponized now) to punish his enemies. These attempts will likely fail. 6. Conservatives expect a Trump victory will mean an end to all of the woke culture they detest about modern American society. That won’t happen. Woke is mostly inevitable change, and IMO positive change. Transgenders, gays, women, blacks, will continue to gain more and more rights even during the next 4 years despite attempts to slow that down. Eventually women will regain the right to abortion once again everywhere in this country. I’m extremely confident about this. Just may take a little longer. 7. The argument over climate change will be unaffected because there’s not much difference in policy between the two parties. Harris’ current views on fracking represents a truth that liberals will never admit: no matter how bad climate change gets we will never try to fight it by punishing big industry and the consumer. It will never happen. At some point some President is going to wake up and propose a huge investment into nuclear energy, and particularly nuclear fusion. If that’s Trump then despite everything else he could still go down as one of our greatest Presidents. So that’s all for now. If Trump wins I will wish him well because I wish this country well and he will be my President. I will hope for the best.
