LIBERATION DAY: USA and China agree to a 90 day pause on most new tariffs
The Real timschochet replied to The Real timschochet's topic in The Geek Club
The article linked explains the first two points. Saints explained the part on Covid. So I don't think I need to defend anything because the arguments are already there. If you disagree with them, then explain why. -

Which is why they aren’t arguing any of the points you raised. They’re just trashing the source and claiming you have TDS. They don’t want to actually discuss it because they have nothing to offer. -

Which of the bullet points are false? Please explain in detail which parts you disagree with and why? -

Thanks for your explanation but I pretty much firmly disagree with each of your 9 points: 1. Here you’re conflating Democrats with extreme leftists. I agree somewhat about the statues but not about your overall sentiment. The overreaction to this from the right (for example the attempt to remove topics about slavery and Jim Crow from history textbooks and the Smithsonian) is IMO even worse than what the left has tried to do. 2. Of course there was a problem before George Floyd; his death was only the latest example of institutional racism by the police in this country. Sure there are a few race hustlers out there but they wouldn’t be effective unless the problem was real in the first place. 3. There is a big difference between being pro-Hamas and being critical of many of Israel’s actions. The vast majority of protestors in this country have the latter and not the former, no matter what they were chanting. And the reason it gets so much more attention than Nigeria is because Israel is a western nation, held rightfully to a higher standard, and America gives them aid. 4. You already know my views on trans; it’s diametrically opposed to yours, except on the question of women’s sports. There we probably agree though I don’t see it as a pressing issue. As for the rest of it just leave them alone to be who they are. 5. This didn’t happen. It is, however, happening now. 6. Liberals are not soft on crime. But we recognize that this is a complicated issue and at times we seek more nuanced solutions because the simple ones that conservatives favor often lead to racism and unfair results. 7. There is no issue listed that I disagree with you more than this one. Under Trump ICE is behaving like Gestapo thugs. The overall policy of mass deportation is immoral, anti-American, doomed to fail, and generally bad for us. 8. The reason there are so many lawsuits and judicial decisions that at this time is because the Trump administration keeps breaking the law. 9. Your last point has been a common complaint against liberalism since FDR and the New Deal. Yet capitalism survives and thrives. These are of course only my opinions. Perhaps the most significant difference between us is that I don’t regard you as evil. Just wrong. -
During his first term the New York Times reported that Trump spent 4-8 hours watching TV each day. Trump angrily denied the report but other sources later reported the same.

Your argument might have some validity in theory but in practice it’s his job. It’s been the President’s job pretty much since FDR. I would also add that every modern President when they run for office, including this one, makes all kinds of campaign promises based on the implication that they are in fact responsible for the actions of Congress and all of federal government. -

Hey good for you Francie. You seem like a good person. The treatment you get in here from ignoramuses who have never understood trans, and spread ignorance, bigotry and hatred is truly disgusting. But you should know that at least some of us reading this support you, accept that you are now the sex you needed to be all along, that it was never a choice and that you are not mentally ill, and that the vast majority of the worlds medical authorities agree with us and not them. Best wishes to you. -

Normally this is the time (it’s way past time actually) that a normal President calls a meeting with the leaders on both sides in the Oval, and a deal is quickly hammered out. This is the way every past shutdown has ended. -
Here’s more examples of ICE breaking laws, this time with tear gas: https://www.washingtonpost.com/immigration/2025/11/01/dhs-ice-border-patrol-chicago-tear-gas/

Republicans introduce amendment so trump can get third term

If so AOC will be our next President. But it won’t be her. The Democratic nominating process is, as ever, ultimately controlled by centrist and socially conservative blacks in southern primaries who will never vote for a socialist candidate. Look for it to be Newsom or whatever other establishment candidate can gather the support of black churchgoing women in South Carolina. They decide this thing. -
You’re all over the map here. First you demanded I tell you what laws ICE has broken. I did that in some detail. Then you argued that it was only laws broken according to a bunch of “leftist judges”. I demonstrated that this was not the case. Now you bring up Covid- I have no idea why or what you’re specifically referring to- apparently in an attempt to show that I am a hypocrite. But I don’t get the reference. Your last sentence “they can avoid it all by getting the fock out” seems to indicate that you’re OK with ICE breaking laws because the ends justify the means to you. If that is your position (and I suspect it is) you should have stated it from the beginning rather than challenge the fact that ICE is actually breaking the law. But you didn’t because I think you know, deep down, that it’s an indefensible position. It also ignores the fact that some of the folks ICE is mistreating are American citizens or otherwise have the legal right to be here.
-
No. These aren’t “leftist judiciaries.” These are judges appointed by every President since Reagan, including 3 Republican Presidents, including judges appointed by Donald Trump. They are ruling this way, unanimously, because ICE is breaking the laws of this country, not based on any ideology.
-
Screw my feelings. Here is a summary of over 200 judicial rulings, made by 100 different judges, that ICE is currently violation federal law in their detention practices: https://www.politico.com/news/2025/10/31/trump-administration-mandatory-detention-deportation-00632086 Then there are all the individual anecdotes: arresting people without asking for papers, physical mistreatment, abuse of prisoners, abuse of bystanders, arresting and detaining American citizens and/or those with legal status, etc, etc.

We could name you as our dictator. Or me. It doesn’t matter. The point is we need to have a dictator for Donald Trump to love us and do what we want. -

I think I have the solution. Democrats need to name a dictator. It could be Gavin Newsom, AOC, Mamdani- doesn’t matter who. We announce that from now on all authority will be from this one person. For show we could even arrest a few critics, imprison them. We’ll stage big parades in honor of Our Leader. Trump will be our slave. He’ll immediately give us everything we want. This is brilliant; how can it fail? -
Agreed. But damn there are going to be so many things to fix….
-
Agreed. The accusation I am making is that they are not enforcing laws, they are breaking them. And at some point in the future they should be prosecuted for it.
-
Look in a mirror as far as that one goes buddy
-
Too bad. Feel free to change your mind. I’ll own up to the pompousness. I probably am pompous from time to time. But I completely deny the charge of dishonesty.
-
Still not accurate but credit to you for at least changing the number partly.
-
Your claim that this is “100% on the Democrats” only demonstrates your partisan imagination. It’s another reason why most of your posts can’t be taken seriously. Unless you’re willing to criticize your own side at least time to time you’re nothing but a shill. Personally I see this as around 40% on Dems, 40% on Republicans, and 20% on Trump. There’s plenty of blame to go around.

Only criticism of Israel that comes from liberals is anti-semitism. Criticism of Israel from conservatives is perfectly fine. Get it right @TimHauck
