Trump: I DEMAND you lower rates! Jerome Powell: I don’t think so. The alpha strikes again!
-
I already told you. He wants to but he doesn’t have the guts for it. You and all the Republicans surrendered to him; the rest of us aren’t going to. The minute the guy faces any resistance he folds like a cheap suit.
-
He’s up there right now repeating the condom lie.

And now she has just sent out a memo denying that the rescind was actually a rescind. You can’t make this up. -
Sure seems like you’re the triggered one, not me. Your guy surrendered and this is your response? Lololol

Took less than 24 hours and she already looks like a fool as Trump reverses everything she said yesterday. Who would want this job? -
Don’t need to rank them. All I need to know is that the list doesn’t include the current guy.

Looks like the tush push is starting to lose it's effectiveness.

Two words: Jason Kelce. Hall of fame center who perfected it. Doesn’t work as well with anyone else. -
@TrailGuy this is why I don’t worry so much about Trump the authoritarian: because he’s such a wussy: https://www.nbcnews.com/news/amp/rcna189852 As I pointed out in the other thread, Trump surrenders more than a World War II French general. The guy just doesn’t have the stones to be a Mussolini, much less a Hitler. He is the least alpha President we have ever had.
-
This is not historically accurate. It was the unions that busted the practice you’re talking about, not the government. Minimum wage came along as a reaction from the government to Union victories that were already taking place.
-
This is why I wrote that Trump is an authoritarian wannabe but no Hitler. Because frankly he doesn’t have the balls. The minute he faces the slightest opposition from the public he backs down. That was the story of his last Presidency and it’s the story of this one. Remember how last time he tried to shut down the government and then surrendered to Pelosi? Trump surrenders more than a French general. That’s your alpha.
-
Of course. Its not a huge issue though. The market adjusts for it one way or the other.
-
He does. Trump surrenders: https://www.nbcnews.com/news/amp/rcna189852 lololol

Then let me make it real simple for you: I am a capitalist. I believe, as much as possible, in unfettered free market capitalism, because it is both the most effective system and because it’s morally right. Socialism is well meaning but doesn’t work; Communism is evil. All of my stances on immigration, trade, minimum wage, etc., are rooted in this conviction.
-
These arguments are really stupid. Look if you think the condom thing is real then offer some evidence that it’s real. Some kind of confirmation, something. They didn’t.
-
You just realized that, Captain Oblivious?

I do want to stress though that just because I personally don’t pay undocumented people “under the table”, or below minimum wage, doesn’t mean I see anything wrong with either. If I was in certain businesses, such as roofing, flooring, general contractor, restaurants, etc., then of course I would hire these folks and pay them in cash. How else would I stay competitive? This is why I continue to assert that there is not a single person reading this that doesn’t benefit greatly from the presence of undocumented immigrants in this country. If you don’t think you do then you’re just lying to yourself.
-
OK this is wrong on so many levels that I feel I must explain further, so here goes. The ONLY time that I ever hire people I assume to be undocumented (I don’t ask) is once or twice a year. Let’s say somebody dumps a bunch of crap in the alley at one of the centers I manage. Usually it’s furniture like an old sofa. So I drive to Home Depot a few blocks away, find a couple of guys with a truck, ask them to follow me. When we get to my center I tell them I want the sofa removed. One of them looks at it and says “$100”. That’s about what I figured. I pay the guy out of my wallet. I don’t ask for anyone’s permission. Ten minutes later the sofa is gone. You do the math on how much I paid him per hour. Now in legal terms I have hired an independent contractor. So long as I don’t pay him in excess of $600 per year, I don’t have to report it. Since I only do this sort of thing a few times a year and I don’t think I’ve ever used the same guy twice, it’s never been an issue. Hopefully this explains everything. Those of you who called me a liar can now kindly fock off.
-
Yep. Sometimes it averages out a little more.
-
I pay them cash. Legally I’m allowed to do so without reporting it if the total sum doesn’t exceed $600 a year. It never does.
-
I have no idea who to believe on this. Of course such a story is possible; there’s tons of stupid waste in our government. But the Trump folks have offered no evidence; that’s why I wrote that it MAY be total bullsh!t. That wouldn’t surprise me because the Trump people make up crap out of thin air.
-
I’ve never been given that choice. If a documented person wants to stand outside Home Depot looking for work, more power to them. But they don’t. When I need work done I need it done quickly.
-
Your list is evidence that I’m right. Because an undocumented immigrant is not comparable to ANY of these, and should not be regarded in the same category.
-
I don’t hire them to save money. How many times do I have to repeat this? I hire them to save TIME.
-
I’ve stated again and again that I hire undocumented people from time to time because they’re convenient. Because when I need day labor a few times a year they’re available. But I typically pay a pretty hefty sum, usually around $50 an hour.
