Lol. Trump never gets any smarter . If he’s stopped saying it it’s only because his mind has moved on to other stuff (like how best to cave in to Canada and Mexico in order to extricate himself from the huge tariff mess he started.)

You know whenever someone writes “no one cares” about one of my posts, that’s how I know they’re the ones paying the most attention. After all, why else would you have bothered to respond? So I’m grateful to you for reading my meager thoughts.

Putting aside the issues surrounding South Africa, I don’t understand how Trump can cut off aid anyhow. Isn’t all spending matters within the jurisdiction of Congress? Last time I checked the Constitution it’s Congress that has the power of the purse.

The 10% tariff on all goods from China, set to go into effect tomorrow, will in itself be a huge burden on American consumers. And while I’m glad Trump caved to Canada and Mexico, this whole business is going to hurt American industry. We rely on investments and one thing investors do NOT like is uncertainty.

Neither. Canada had agreed to do all that prior to the tariffs. And as I noted earlier they offered more over the weekend.

Why are you repeating this? It’s been shown to be untrue. Trump received no concessions.

People who actually have a lot of money don’t usually brag about it. They don’t talk about it.

They spent the last two days arguing that the tariffs were really a good thing. Now they’ve reverted to the argument that Trump never meant to go through with them, he was just angling for concessions which he got so he’s a winner. But they can’t really explain what those concessions are (because there aren’t any.) These guys remind me of the old Raiders fans who tried to defend Al Davis whenever he made a terrible draft choice.

None. Whats your point? Africa is a sad continent. Hundreds of years of colonial abuse, followed by decades of corruption and incompetent leadership, has led to bad outcomes.

Except that the foreign countries didn’t do anything: 1. Mexico has agreed to send 10,000 men to the border. They sent 10,000 men in 2021 and in 2018. They were going to do it anyhow. 2. Canada agreed to spend millions of dollars fighting the spread of fentanyl and helping to secure the border. Guess what? They had already agreed to do this in December. 3. Both countries offered to do WAY MORE than this over the weekend and Trump turned them down! He wanted the tariffs; it was only after he saw the stock market tumble and the threat of tariffs on American products that he backed down. Repeat after me: Trump surrendered.

Why would I change it? Trump tried to bully our neighbors, they stood up to him, Trump backed down. That’s exactly what happened.

Some of the MAGA people here seem upset right now. As they should be; their hero folded like a cheap suit today, that’s 3 times now in the last two weeks he’s had to back down. It doesn’t look like he received a single concession of note from Mexico or Canada. I also heard today that “Catch and Release” is still a widespread practice; that despite Trump’s pledges he hasn’t ended it. Just another failure by him (though, in every one of these issues, a failure by Trump means a win for the USA.)

No tariffs means everyone wins.

Wtf? you are one strange dude

As l predicted Trump announces agreement with Canada to suspend tariffs for a month at least. I am SO happy about this. The Maga fans will claim this is a big victory for Trump. The Trump critics (myself among them) will point out that Trump achieved nothing except to scare the markets. But I don’t care who wins. So long as we don’t go ahead with these tariffs nobody loses, it’s all good.
