Or here’s one when Limbaugh claimed that the real purpose of food stamps is “reparations for slavery”: https://www.peoplesworld.org/article/colorofchange-takes-on-rush-limbaugh-and-gop-racism/

Feel free to Google “Rush Limbaugh and food stamps” and be prepared for about a thousand offensive quotes in this general direction. My favorite is probably this one: https://www.brainyquote.com/quotes/rush_limbaugh_454800

Trump should have the option to serve 2 more terms as president if he wants it.

I know. I am personally opposed to these restrictions. -

Well that was my point. My answer to your question is yes. Term limits on nobody. But I want them on Supreme Court justices because that is an appointed position not an elected one. I don’t think any appointments should be for life. -

Again, pointing out the age of these people and any possible deficiencies is a legitimate topic- but I think one the voters should decide. If someone from Kentucky says to you “I’m well aware how old Mitch McConnell is and how he sometimes isn’t all there, but I like his politics and I trust him and I want him to remain as my senator” why should you or I have the power to say no? -

It’s two years so that the House is more devoted to pleasing the public whereas Senators are allowed to make their own decisions. I think the Founding Fathers were wise to do it that way. But I strongly disagree with your other point. If the good people of Iowa want to keep electing Charles Grassley every 6 years why shouldn’t they be allowed to do so? Just because he’s old as fock and I don’t like his politics, too bad, that should be their right to decide. -

I think so, federally. Of course states have their own. I would give Supreme Court Justices a 10 year limit. Of course the President could then reappoint them if desired. -

I also don’t like that you have to be 35 and born in this country to be President. If a 26 dude from Japan or Nigeria or whatever would make the best President then that’s who we should choose. Throw out all these stupid rules. -

Now that this question has (seemingly) been settled, I would like to add the thought that I personally think a President SHOULD be able to run for a third term, and a fourth, and as long as the people want him. Why not? I’m not a fan of term limits- we already have them with elections every 4 years. Remember that the only reason two terms was written into the Constitution was because Republicans were pissed off that FDR ran for 4 terms. They ignored the fact that, if he hadn’t run again in 1940, there would have been no Lend-Lease and the Nazis win World War II. So if I had my way I would scrap that amendment. Just saying. -

Trump has now said definitely that he can’t run for a third term and so he won’t. “It’s really too bad.” He said. https://abcnews.go.com/amp/Politics/trump-pretty-clear-run-3rd-term/story?id=126968713 -
Israel Gaza thread- is the peace agreement still in effect?
The Real timschochet replied to The Real timschochet's topic in The Geek Club
You continue to make the assumption that I place Israel and Hamas on equal moral levels. Hamas is evil. I rarely comment on them except to wish they would be eradicated. I fully expect them to do bad things and they rarely fail to do them. The Israelis are the good guys. Of late they’re the good guys doing some awful things. That’s why I criticize them. They’re worth criticizing because I know they can behave better. In this case I don’t believe Hamas’ actions, evil and awful as they were, justify Israel breaking the ceasefire. -
Target is eliminating 1,800 corporate jobs

It’s not going to end badly either way. Be of good cheer. But Trump’s trade policies aren’t helping. For industry, and particularly retail industry to be robust we need to have as free trade as possible. Trump doesn’t seem to understand this and he’s hurting us in real time. -

After the Israeli strikes yesterday, which killed 104, Israel now says the ceasefire is back in place: https://apnews.com/article/israel-palestinians-west-bank-hamas-gaza-445eea84db9c19600b9ab92786b7fb7c Apparently Israel can simply choose to accept or ignore the agreement whenever it wants. -
Republicans introduce amendment so trump can get third term

If we keep going the way we’re going by the time the bet is due $5000 might not buy you a couple of family nights out to eat. -

To be honest this is not really a fear I share. Dude will be 83. Doubt he wants it. I am far more concerned about the damage to the country he is doing NOW. 2028 is a long way off. We need to get past the current disaster. -
This lie started long before Trump. Rush Limbaugh told them the only people getting food stamps were lazy blacks and illegal Mexicans. Now they accept it as gospel. You can keep telling them the truth but they’ll never accept it.

Impeachment inquiry of Joe Biden begins- over Hunter Biden
The Real timschochet posted a topic in The Geek Club
https://thehill.com/regulation/court-battles/4332046-the-memo-hunter-biden-goes-on-the-offense-against-gop-tormentors/amp/ In response to Congress’ subpoena, Hunter Biden has agreed to testify, but only if it’s public so that the American people can see it and the House members can’t manipulate his testimony. Naturally Republicans refuse. “This won’t stand” says Comer. Once again the House Republicans look ridiculous. -
Jen Boring In The Psaki - Does it get any more hypocrtical?
The Real timschochet replied to edjr's topic in The Geek Club
There is not a single person reading this, who has read your posts over the years, who would honestly deny that “gotcha” is your main go to. You thrive on it. You pull up other people’s posts from years ago, even decades. Denying it now just makes you look stupid (which you are but you don’t want to look that way,) -
The principle is a larger one- that Trump cannot arbitrarily choose to restrict or stop spending already authorized by Congress. Do you agree with that principle?

Maybe you can give him pointers? Though perhaps not since you’ve never managed to get over it yourself. -
80% might be low. I’m being conservative here.

Thanks for the correction. I figured she was talking about the shutdown. But I assumed correctly it was out of context because that’s always the sort of sh!t these guys try to pull. -

You’re quite correct, I know very little about the stuff you find humorous. Since you freely throw around words like “retard” and “libtard” I suspect I really don’t want to. -

Notice you guys all make similar jokes- laugh at special education, special Olympics- classy stuff. Why not throw in a few gay/trans remarks while you’re at it?
