Well first toxicity. We can’t even get back onto Sunset Blvd yet so we have no idea what we’re talking about. Second- right now the insurance companies are reluctant to offer new polices in the region. Some of them are looking at bankruptcy. Before we rebuild it’s likely the state is going to have to give some kind of guarantee on future insurance, and that sort of legislation could take a long time. Given the fact that this country has had more natural disasters in the last ten years than in that 100 years before that combined, we may need to revamp the entire insurance industry before we can spend billions of dollars rebuilding. Most important of all: do we simply want to rebuild what we had or do we want a more planned community that will be safer from these fires? I don’t know. I don’t see how ANYONE can know the answer to this vital question at the moment. I think we need to think about it. I think we need to be careful. That’s all I’m saying.

While I think it’s important to keep a close eye on all this stuff I’m not especially concerned yet. I’m much more concerned about decisions with immediate consequences such as tariffs, the deportation plans, cutting off aid to Ukraine, etc. than I am about this stuff. I also hope his decisions with regard to the CDC and the WHO, which to me seem rooted in retribution over Covid, don’t come back to bite us, especially if the bird flu thing gets more serious…

I didn’t complain. Just pointed out that he’s a vindictive . I don’t think it’s worth celebrating like some people here. Also, as I’ve repeated many times, I believe the indictments of Donald Trump were legitimate and deserved, and I reject your narrative.

When he does things I approve of for America. He’s done a couple of those already; the first week wasn’t all bad. (Mostly though.)

But there’s actually only a tiny number of violent criminals relative to the total number of undocumented people here. Of course I care. I want good things to happen. When Trump attempts to enact policy I think is harmful then I want him fought as much as possible. But let him appoint who he wants. To me it’s largely irrelevant because none of these people could be as incompetent as he is and he’s the guy in charge.

That is true. I want all Trump’s picks to be confirmed. I want clarity. Elections have consequences. Trump was very clear on the sort of America he wanted and that’s what people voted for. Let’s see how much they like the results.

I was trying to figure out who @Horseman reminded me of with his idiotic posts which are constantly the equivalent of “I know you are but what am I?” arguments…now I’ve got it.

There are a hundred thousand government expenditures that don’t make sense and are a waste of money. Trump has been in office less than a week. He could have focused on any of them. Why this one, and John Bolton? Because he’s petty and vindictive.

Anyone who hopes for his failure is being a jerk. Don’t get me wrong: from what I can see Hegseth is an incompetent idiot, totally unqualified for this position, and a bad person as well. But if he fails now then our military fails. So we need him to be good at this, or at least not muck things up too badly. I root for his success and wish him luck.

The only reason Trump is doing this is to be petty and vindictive- everybody knows it. What’s interesting is how many of you approve such behavior. Donald Trump is a mean-spirited, boorish, classless guy. You guys think that’s a good thing to be.
