I did read the article. I think it makes a broad point and then offers examples that, while they don’t pertain to the current case, the broader point does. But in the end does any of this matter? There is no set definition of an impeachable offense anyhow. One of the articles against Andrew Johnson, if I remember correctly, was for “lewd behavior.” Obviously it’s very subjective. Thats why I think you’re flawed for attempting to challenge me on this. We can agree to disagree on whether or not Trump should be impeached for these pardons (theoretically since we both know it will never happen) but there aren’t any set rules on this. It’s completely arbitrary and based on opinion.

He doesn’t want to be. Hw doesn’t see that as America’s role any longer. A big part of the reason I didn’t vote for him.

Great response. You also asked me to cite case law as to how using the pardon power can be an impeachable offense. I’m not a lawyer so I don’t know the case law. However I looked it up. Here is an article from 2018 explaining how using pardons can be obstruction of justice and therefore impeachable. Simply calling me didactic is not really compelling.

Sure. He pardoned people who attacked the U.S. Capitol Building and committed violence against the police officers protecting it. That is not illegal; he has the right to pardon people. But I regard this as an act of treason against the USA and therefore an impeachable offense. Thats pretty much the whole of my argument. I don’t need to get into the weeds of what is or what is not an impeachable offense or what is or what is not an act of treason because neither has ever been properly defined. To paraphrase Potter Stewart, I know it when I see it.

I strongly disapproved of what Biden did, but I don’t regard Biden’s pardons as treason. I do regard Trump’s pardons that way.

Simply put I don’t believe that any of the “what ifs” you raised happened. I think they’re all hogwash. But hey if there’s evidence, bring it. Otherwise this committee is going to look really foolish and I suspect that will be the case.

If that is actually happening in a way that it didn’t happen before then I will be happy too. But forgive me for being a little skeptical. At the end of this year we can look back and see how many violent criminals were deported as compared to last year.

This isn’t an unreasonable argument. If Trump had gone through the list of these people carefully (as he promised do several times during his campaign) I personally would not have a problem with it. Now I have a huge problem with it; I regard it as an impeachable offense and an act of treason against the Constitution he just swore to uphold.

Republicans have announced the formation of a new Jan 6 committee. So much for looking forward. I can only assume they will investigate Pelosi, the FBI, Liz Cheney, Antifa…should be a blast.

Well that would include me; don’t be rude! But in this instance what we are advocating for is a society in which local police don’t inform to the government on the whereabouts of nonviolent undocumented people. It’s one thing to report the murderers, the rapists, and to see that they’re deported after serving proper time in prison. But the vast majority who don’t commit such crimes should be left alone. Thats what sanctuary cities are about, and I’m glad we have them.

Why do you persist in this nonsense? In your second paragraph you mentioned the military and wrongly stated that I brought it up. That’s what I responded to. Get over it already.

Right after he said that, Hannity says “We only have a few minutes more and I want to talk about the economy”, but Trump tells him “This (my retribution) is more important.” Priorities you know….
