  1. Wow. Talk about revisionist. OK

Chuck Schumer Under DOJ Investigation 👍

But that’s not what I wrote nor implied. It’s never OK to investigate or prosecute anyone for political reasons.

    Mass Deportation

I didn’t criticize Biden because Trump’s policies were inhumane and I’m glad Biden rescinded them. If given a choice between Trump’s policies and a crowd at the border, give me the crowd. I’m not willing to solve the problem the way Trump wants to. But it IS a problem (or was for a while) and Biden deserves criticism for ignoring it. None of this has anything to do with my current objections which I stated in my previous post. And I couldn’t care less about taking credit. I’m not a politician. Most of the time I’m glad whenever I turn out to be wrong because lately I see a lot of bad times ahead.

We’re not continuing down any pathway. This would be the first time in a long while we stepped on it (since the McCarthy era.) Let’s be very clear: all of this “retribution” stuff that Trump and his minions are pulling isn’t retribution at all, because the all of the various prosecutions against Trump were perfectly legitimate and warranted. If the Republicans are stupid enough to go down this path they will be the first ones to do so. The Biden folks did nothing wrong in this regard.

    Mass Deportation

Amusing. But no it doesn’t help me understand, because I have no problem securing the border. I have no problem criticizing Biden for NOT securing the border. And I have no problem deporting bad individuals like violent criminals. I have a problem with the proposed forced mass deportation of the millions of undocumented people here who are not violent criminals. I think it’s unworkable, morally wrong to even attempt it, and also it hurts this country greatly to even attempt it as we will soon find out. You haven’t offered a reasonable rebuttal to any of these positions. Until you do, perhaps it would be wiser of you to refrain from calling anyone else a fool.

Well that’s the price you pay when you sell your soul to the devil.
  7. Lol. Feel free to criticize me all you want and talk about how much you guys love Trump. Whatever. I’ve told you that these tariffs are going to be a disaster. I’ve told you why. You can put your head in the sand but it won’t matter. It’s up to you.
  8. China is not Canada’s main trading partner.
  9. You won’t be for long.

    Here come the tariffs

Study from August: these tariffs will cost the average household $2,600 a year: https://www.piie.com/research/piie-charts/2024/trumps-bigger-tariff-proposals-would-cost-typical-american-household-over
  11. The point we’re trying to make here is that NOBODY is going to be happy about these tariffs.
  12. I hope you’re right to be dismissive

Plane crashes into Potomac near Reagan airport

Why are we talking about Bobby Knight in here? Bizarre
  14. Trash me all you want. I don’t think you recognize the severity of this issue. At some point you will and then it will be too late.
  15. What you wrote is how politics should be in a perfect world, but in the world we live in, elections aren’t won by promising what you’ll do but by trashing the people in charge. That’s how Trump won the last campaign, and that’s how Dems will win the next one. I don’t like it but that’s how to win.
  16. Again, my post was meant to win the 2026 midterms, which will be about Trump’s presidency.
  17. Why do you and others keep repeating this nonsense? Theres no comparison between these new tariffs and anything else Trump or Biden did before. The tariffs Trump placed on China, which Biden retained, were around 5% on certain goods. It wasn’t smart, but it didn’t kill us. These new tariffs on Mexico and Canada will be 25% on ALL goods. Thats a completely different ballgame. They will be, starting today, the worst ever in our history, worse than Smoot-Hawley which caused the Great Depression. You can dislike me, think I’m stupid, but surely you get the difference? This isn’t some own the libs policy; this will affect all of us in a very bad way.

    Here come the tariffs

Personally I am not rooting for bad things to happen here. I just believe they will. What I hope is that Trump either calls this off, or that somehow it doesn’t affect us that badly. If it brings us prosperity the way he is promising it will, I will happily admit that I was wrong and congratulate him and those who support him. And I want that to happen. But…I don’t think I’m wrong. I think this is going to be a serious calamity. We won’t see the effects for some time- a few weeks…a month…:by then it will be too late. And it won’t help me then to say “I told you so.”

    Raw dirty blues

Yeah. I dig it but it’s not as raw as the first three. I love that early sound, it’s a lot like Free which I also posted earlier. I’m always looking for bands that sound like early ZZ Top. Black Keys as of late. Got any for me to listen to? Post them please.

    Raw dirty blues

Forgot about that tune, thanks! Just added it to my blues playlist. And it absolutely would fit on any blues album of the time. You know why ZZ Top wasn’t called blues at the time? Because to the record execs back then, blues meant black people. If a white guy did it, it had to be hard rock. That’s the only reason.

Those are all blues songs. And I love them all, especially “Just God Paid”

    Here come the tariffs

https://www.washingtonpost.com/business/2025/01/31/tariff-trump-trade-war/ President Trump confirmed tonight that he does NOT view the tariffs as a negotiating tool, but as a way to improve the economy. “Tariffs don’t cause inflation,” he said, “they cause success.” This is what I was afraid of. I’ve been hoping his aides would talk him out of this; I still am. There is not a single economic expert, neither conservative or liberal, who thinks a 25% tariff on Canada and Mexico will be anything but an economic disaster. If this happens, if Trump means it, if he doesn’t reverse himself in a few days or weeks, we are looking at a recession, or worse, a depression. Of every decision Trump has ever made this will be the worst by far: it will be the worst decision by any President in our lifetime. Not joking about this. I know some of you MAGA types will laugh, will say I’m freaking out about this, whatever. I don’t expect you to trust me, but listen at least to the economic folks.

OK. Not sure why you’re arguing this but please name a song from the first two albums that isn’t a blues song.

    The lightning move toward autocracy

I will say this: Budapest is the most gorgeous city I have ever been to. Of course since almost all of the buildings I admired are at least 200 years old, I can safely say the current regime deserves no credit.
