There is nothing that you wrote here that I couldn’t reverse in equal measure and apply it to you and I believe I would be absolutely correct to do so. My point being: what if, for the most part, the mainstream media is telling the truth? I think they are.

I am opposed to this bill. But @RLLD the answer is yes because the Republicans are going to win the messaging battle on this bill and others like it. To the general public it’s easier to argue for a bill like this than against it: being against it is a more complicated argument. So yes Republicans are going to win the battle on this IMO. That being said, long term it doesn’t really matter in terms of Democrat electoral chances. We remain a two party system and despite all the grumbling that’s not going away. When the Democrats are not in power (like now) they will always be the alternative to the party IN power. No matter how extreme Democrats might get they will still win when the public gets weary of the party in power now. Thats the main lesson I took from the 2024 election.

Thats not what I saw.

1. My comments about Holocaust deniers were in response to @RLLD’s argument that one should be more tolerant of opposing positions. My answer is “depends on what is being argued” and I offered Holocaust denial as an example of a position that need not be ever tolerated. I never mentioned Donald Trump, not sure where you got that. 2. I don’t know what Joe Biden is like in private, but I am unaware of any antisemitism by him. His close friendship with the late Senator Byrd, who evolved from racism earlier in his life, is not evidence one way or another of Biden’s personal views.

When did I ever post that Trump was an antisemite? When did I ever vote for an antisemite?

1. never wrote that Trump denied the Holocaust. 2. I think both Trump and Biden have made racist comments. But I think Trump’s have been deliberate, designed to stoke division and fear. Biden’s remarks come from age and ignorance and aren’t designed to do anything. 3. I find the sexual accusations about Trump to be credible. Not so much with Biden. 4. Thank you for comparing me to a woke college kid. My daughters and most of their friends are woke college kids and great people and I would be proud to be among them.

And many many conservatives now in the U.S. Senate attended Strom Thurmond’s funeral and said nice things about him. How much do you know about the lives of Byrd and Thurmond? Maybe for once put down the clickbait videos and actually read about the people you’re referring to.

While I tend in recent years to vote Democratic I’m not a member of the party, or any party. I certainly don’t think Trump is Hitler. You may be confusing me with somebody else.

Also: I want you to read what you wrote here and ask yourself this question: how would you respond to it if these exact words came out of a dude who was denying the Holocaust?

In all seriousness now: we can’t. The frustrating reason, as I have pointed out many times, is that we get our news from different sources. I’m convinced that you believe several things which are simply untrue, but I can’t prove that to you because you regard my main source of proof, the mainstream media, as unreliable. Most of the things you believe that I regard as false have been reported in media sources (conservative) that I regard as unreliable. I don’t know how to resolve this. We can and should continue to discuss and debate but ultimately we will always end up at an impasse.
