🇺🇸Father Trump Talk-🚨The Official Thread of MAGA🚨 It’s Go Time
The Real timschochet replied to HellToupee's topic in The Geek Club
It’s easier for my liberal friends to tolerate Donald Trump when I point out that he and MAGA are kind of the last gasp of anti-woke attitudes. This country pushes inevitably towards liberal ideas and “a more perfect union”; sometimes we take a few steps back (like in the early 1950s, and now) but this always followed by ten steps forward. -
Did Lamar Jackson graduate kindergarten?
The Real timschochet replied to edjr's topic in The Geek Club
This is short sided. Whatever you think of my liberal ideas, around 49% of voters preferred them in the last election. Don’t kid yourself that they’re dead. Actually I firmly believe that most woke ideas are inevitable and will come to be accepted in the years and decades to come, including by you. You just don’t realize it now. -

You guys are all assuming Trump will voluntarily leave after 4 years. -

Sad to know that @Cdub100 isn’t the only anti-Semite around these parts….

@Engorgeous George regarding your response to my first question: “if so at far lower density” I’m curious as to how this would be regulated. Newsom has already stated that he wants to remove what he calls “burdensome restrictions” on rebuilding efforts- he sounded a lot like Trump or a conservative when he said that- but that would put him at odds with what you’re suggesting. Do you believe the state should severely restrict the amount of rebuilding that can be done? And how would that impact property values? The other question regarding this point: many experts seem to believe these latest fires are a real anomaly, highly unusual and very unlikely to be repeated. I have no idea if this is true or not but if it is then why would we need lower density? -
Israel-Hamas cease-fire deal proves Trump’s a better prez out of office than Biden was in it
The Real timschochet replied to Maximum Overkill's topic in The Geek Club
Well I’m sorry about that. I regret that this is your opinion of me since I usually find your commentary here pretty thoughtful even though I tend to disagree with you more often than not. But I don’t think I’ve done anything wrong here so I have nothing to apologize for. -

Maybe so. It would certainly be better if this is true. Now Trump has a historic opportunity to try and turn this into something bigger. Let’s see if he can. -

But you’re objecting to me discussing an issue which is being raised by far more reputable sources than any of those other topics. And you never objected to those, but you’re objecting to me. Obviously this one bothers you more. Which suggests to me partisanship and a double standard. -

Give me a break. This is not a news site. Of course if I was the editor of a media site I would never print such a story. But this is a discussion forum where rumor and innuendo are the norm here. I don’t see you objecting to reports that Biden is a pedophile, that Pelosi’s husband was sexually involved with his attacker, or any of the other crap that gets discussed here. So it’s highly hypocritical for you to come down on me in light of that. -

1. Should we rebuild in the same places? 2. How should we rebuild? 3. what changes should be made? These to me are the pressing questions. -

The Real timschochet replied to Maximum Overkill's topic in The Geek Club
However there is also some talk out there that prior to the election, Trump told Bibi to delay coming to this agreement (which is essentially the same agreement that was in July) until after the election so that it wouldn’t help Biden. Right now these are only rumors. There is no proof. I hope this is not the case. Trump is IMO a shallow guy but I hope he is not shallow enough to allow hostages to remain imprisoned for the sake of winning an election. -

Everything I’m reading and hearing says that Trump is the reason for this, Trump put pressure on Netanyahu to get this done. So credit must go to Trump. -

This. Always better to be debating who deserves credit rather than who deserves blame. This is a good day. That being said, a ceasefire is not peace. Peace will be far more complicated to achieve. -
The Nomination Questioning Of Hegseth
The Real timschochet replied to BunnysBastatrds's topic in The Geek Club
Lol this isn’t true. Hegseth looked like a buffoon. But he’s the buffoon Trump wants so I can’t think of a reason to reject him. I think half of Trump’s picks, or more, are completely idiotic. But let him have them. -

Rent control restricts rent for all rental properties in a city (Santa Monica for example.) Affordable housing is built for the specific purpose of cheaper rents. Rent control restricts the landlord; affordable housing usually involves the landlord receiving government funding to keep the rents lower. -
Special counsel Jack Smith's report on 2020 election subversion efforts
The Real timschochet replied to Mike Honcho's topic in The Geek Club
I don’t believe that. Donald Trump represents an unusual, almost unique set of circumstances. I don’t think his success in getting away with the crap he has will have much of an impact on our society as a whole. -
The Nomination Questioning Of Hegseth
The Real timschochet replied to BunnysBastatrds's topic in The Geek Club
Look it’s the guy Trump wants. And Trump got elected. Personally unless one can PROVE incompetence or malfeasance (and that’s a pretty high bar) I’d vote for all of Trump’s picks. That’s what the voters want. It’s Trump’s show now, let’s see how it goes. -

I don’t believe in rent control. You’re right it doesn’t work. I DO believe in providing affordable housing for the less fortunate. That’s a separate issue. -

I don’t think you know much about Orange County do you? It’s dominated by conservatives and local government has been Republican forever with very few exceptions. I was referring to local politics not statewide. In terms of statewide politics your contention that Democratic policies are failed policies is absolutely debatable and in fact I disagree with you strongly . -

Based on the questioning it looks to me like Hegseth will get in on a party line vote. Republicans don’t care about or are willing to excuse his behavior. -
LA Wildfires, 100K people evacuated and counting
The Real timschochet replied to jerryskids's topic in The Geek Club
That’s because the benefits provided are nationwide while the costs incurred, though far less, affect only the area in question. So the solution to this is not to get rid of these people but to distribute the costs federally among all 50 states. Of course this solution will never happen; it’s far too logical. -

In every city in Orange County, Republican candidates for city council consistently run on a platform of denying affordable housing. It’s a very ugly policy of NIMBY which borders on blatant racism. Thats one big reason I always vote Democrat.
