When he does things I approve of for America. He’s done a couple of those already; the first week wasn’t all bad. (Mostly though.)

Of course I care. I want good things to happen. When Trump attempts to enact policy I think is harmful then I want him fought as much as possible. But let him appoint who he wants. To me it’s largely irrelevant because none of these people could be as incompetent as he is and he’s the guy in charge.

That is true. I want all Trump’s picks to be confirmed. I want clarity. Elections have consequences. Trump was very clear on the sort of America he wanted and that’s what people voted for. Let’s see how much they like the results.

There are a hundred thousand government expenditures that don’t make sense and are a waste of money. Trump has been in office less than a week. He could have focused on any of them. Why this one, and John Bolton? Because he’s petty and vindictive.

Anyone who hopes for his failure is being a jerk. Don’t get me wrong: from what I can see Hegseth is an incompetent idiot, totally unqualified for this position, and a bad person as well. But if he fails now then our military fails. So we need him to be good at this, or at least not muck things up too badly. I root for his success and wish him luck.

No. He might still have slipped through the cracks. Another bad guy might have slipped through the cracks. I don’t believe the cracks can ever be adequately closed to stop all of this sort of crime. And at least for me the price is too high. I’m not willing to tear apart the lives of innocent people. You know what societies have very few rapes and murders, HT? Police states. Soviet Russia. Nazi Germany. The streets were safe from violent crime. I’m not willing to pay that price.
