Great response. You also asked me to cite case law as to how using the pardon power can be an impeachable offense. I’m not a lawyer so I don’t know the case law. However I looked it up. Here is an article from 2018 explaining how using pardons can be obstruction of justice and therefore impeachable. Simply calling me didactic is not really compelling.

Sure. He pardoned people who attacked the U.S. Capitol Building and committed violence against the police officers protecting it. That is not illegal; he has the right to pardon people. But I regard this as an act of treason against the USA and therefore an impeachable offense. Thats pretty much the whole of my argument. I don’t need to get into the weeds of what is or what is not an impeachable offense or what is or what is not an act of treason because neither has ever been properly defined. To paraphrase Potter Stewart, I know it when I see it.

I strongly disapproved of what Biden did, but I don’t regard Biden’s pardons as treason. I do regard Trump’s pardons that way.

Simply put I don’t believe that any of the “what ifs” you raised happened. I think they’re all hogwash. But hey if there’s evidence, bring it. Otherwise this committee is going to look really foolish and I suspect that will be the case.

If that is actually happening in a way that it didn’t happen before then I will be happy too. But forgive me for being a little skeptical. At the end of this year we can look back and see how many violent criminals were deported as compared to last year.

This isn’t an unreasonable argument. If Trump had gone through the list of these people carefully (as he promised do several times during his campaign) I personally would not have a problem with it. Now I have a huge problem with it; I regard it as an impeachable offense and an act of treason against the Constitution he just swore to uphold.

Republicans have announced the formation of a new Jan 6 committee. So much for looking forward. I can only assume they will investigate Pelosi, the FBI, Liz Cheney, Antifa…should be a blast.

Well that would include me; don’t be rude! But in this instance what we are advocating for is a society in which local police don’t inform to the government on the whereabouts of nonviolent undocumented people. It’s one thing to report the murderers, the rapists, and to see that they’re deported after serving proper time in prison. But the vast majority who don’t commit such crimes should be left alone. Thats what sanctuary cities are about, and I’m glad we have them.

Why do you persist in this nonsense? In your second paragraph you mentioned the military and wrongly stated that I brought it up. That’s what I responded to. Get over it already.

Right after he said that, Hannity says “We only have a few minutes more and I want to talk about the economy”, but Trump tells him “This (my retribution) is more important.” Priorities you know….

There’s no goalposts moved. I wrote that putting the military on the border is for show and won’t accomplish much and I meant it. You’re right about the tunnels but they are not the main source for fetanyl- the ports are like I wrote. The tunnels are troublesome and there’s only going to be more now but we can’t stop them without information. Military force won’t do it.

See this I don’t mind- except that I think @TrailGuy is right that we already have huge tariffs on Russia so I don’t know if it will make a difference. But I very much like that he is putting pressure on Putin to stop the war and not on Ukraine- at least not yet. But no details are provided- is he just expecting Russia to retreat? Is he willing to allow Russia to keep some of the lands they have seized? (Zelensky won’t agree to that.) Not sure how this plays out…

It’s really stupid. Cartels don’t send their drugs across the border and they certainly don’t come across the border in large numbers. They sneak the drugs into our ports. As Trump would know if he bothered to talk to the DEA. This is all for show. It’s going to cost a ton of money and will achieve nothing. Our 60 year failed War on Drugs should have taught us that you can’t fight this by using force against the suppliers because there will always be more. You need to reduce the demand.

Oh I predicted there would be a big show for sometime. They’ll round up the major bad guys and that’s a good thing. When it comes to the millions of non-violent undocumented people who work in our fields, our restaurants, do our construction and clean our houses - I don’t think these people will be touched. If I’m wrong that would be terrible so I hope I’m right.
