OK I’m listening. How? Explain the bolded as simply as you can. I’m open to your argument but I want to see what it is. -
Anothah wicked big wintah storm coming? The souf will be impacted
The Real timschochet replied to edjr's topic in The Geek Club
Whether it is storms in the south, hurricanes in the southeast, fires in California, etc. severe weather conditions are going to take a huge toll and dominate our lives in this time of man-made climate change. And it’s only going to get worse. This is the new normal. -

So- the main point to stress is this: these fires are not like other fires that have occurred in the past in Southern California. This was an anomaly. Yesterday was the worst day in southern California’s history, and the worst day in California history since the San Francisco earthquake of 1906. Liberal policies didn’t cause this disaster or make it particularly worse. Lots of mistakes were made and it will be easy for many to be armchair quarterbacks afterwards. And some thoughtful criticism is justified. Personally I believe the scientists who tell me that climate change is responsible for severe weather conditions like the unheard of 8 month drought and impossibly high winds that contributed significantly to this catastrophe. But that doesn’t matter because at this point there is little we can do to stop climate change. -

This was posted at FBG by BobbyLayne: Millions of views spreading lies about the Palsiades firefighters lacking water because of regulations, the boring truth comes late like usual and won’t be shared: 1. Reservoirs and tanks were at normal levels and completely full before the fires. 2. All 114 city water supplies were fully stocked pre-fire. 3. A 15 hour surge at four times normal demand reduced water pressure. 4. High demand at lower elevations slowed filling tanks at higher elevations. 5. This unprecedented fire was fueled by 8 months of no rain and 85mph winds. Water is being brought in continuously. 6. Even if the protection of the Delta Smelt caused over regulation in California, it’s the FEDERAL Endangered Species Act that requires the protection of endangered species like the Delta Smelt and their habitats, not Gavin Newsom of California. -

I agree with you about nuclear power and of course I agree with your second paragraph. Let’s leave it at that for this morning. -

And Trump’s going to put up the tariffs anyhow. Because for Trump, tariffs are not a means to an end they are the end. -
🇺🇸Father Trump Talk-🚨The Official Thread of MAGA🚨 It’s Go Time
The Real timschochet replied to HellToupee's topic in The Geek Club
Trump wrote yesterday that he plans to pay for his tax cuts with tariffs. If he goes through with this then the Democratic game plan for winning elections over the next for years will become incredibly easy: “if we are elected we will eliminate the tariffs and your prices will go down.” Simple and effective. -
DEI Mayor Gone Awol; Mayor Karen Bass Faces Criticism Over Fire Department $17.6 Million Dollar Budget Cut

She deserves to lose the next election to another Democrat who’s a little smarter and better. That’s it. She doesn’t deserve to go to jail or any of the other crap you wrote. -

As usual I strongly disagree with almost all of your political points here. And in the case of climate change it goes beyond even disagreement as I believe you are deliberately choosing to ignore science and evidence, But that being said I am sorry for your sister. -

Thanks. It’s really hitting my wife hard. She moved to that house when she was 5 and grew up there. But houses can be replaced, people can’t. My in laws are safe and sound which is what matters. -

Her campaign was pretty shameful IMO. She portrayed Rick Caruso as a rich white bigot and Trump supporter. He’s rich and white; the rest was a lie. Caruso can’t stand Trump and the feeling is mutual (maybe because Caruso is better at real estate that Trump could ever dream of being, wealthier than Trump, honest and a generally good guy with innovative and moderate pro-business liberal ideas.) But unfortunately Bass was successful at playing the race card. -

As I wrote before the folks in the Palisades are pretty wealthy. Many of them are Republican, like my FIL. Some of them are big time Trump donors. Some of them are big time Democratic donors. I have a feeling they’ll end up getting their insurance money. These people usually end up getting what they want. -

No idea why you chose to respond to me this way. I was asked if my in laws had insurance or if it had already been cancelled. I replied yes they had insurance , that’s all I meant. What happens next I have no clue. Will the insurance company cover their losses (assuming the house is lost?) No idea. I certainly hope so. Guess we’ll find out. -

This is going to lead to a crisis. Most people in Pacific Palisades are very wealthy. They’re going to demand to rebuild, but they won’t do it without new insurance in place. If the insurance companies refuse then just like in Florida there will be tremendous pressure placed on the politicians to step in. And the politicians won’t ignore Pacific Palisades; it’s been a major fundraising source for both parties. -

I’m not surprised that Trump immediately attacked Newsom and Newsom responded by immediately attacking Trump. But I find it unfortunate and depressing. I don’t like either of these two politicians. Say what you will about Joe Biden, but all he does in these situations is offer to help. So sick and tired of the blame game. -

Thanks. No their insurance is fine. But there’s still no confirmation about their house and won’t be for a few days. Perhaps some houses survived; apparently the Getty did so why not? We’ll keep on hoping until we know. -

They’ve lived there for over 50 years. During that time there was only one mandatory evacuation before yesterday, about 30 years ago. You’re an idiot. -
