It’s terrible. Some of my in-laws neighbors refused to leave. Really stubborn, thought they could save their homes, stand on the roof with a hose, etc. No clue what has happened to them. Other folks have insisted on returning to their houses today and they’re impeding access for the firefighters. Just really dumb IMO.

I’m not afraid of anything. You asked a question and I tried to answer it as best I could. I don’t like Karen Bass. If she’s proven to be incompetent it wouldn’t surprise me. But I don’t know her role in this stuff and I’m skeptical of people making assumptions at this point.

Again you accuse me of acting like I’m an expert and I’m not doing that. But yeah I think I can dismiss some of the opinions here if they’re completely biased and irrelevant which many of them are. For example, forest management has NOTHING to do with the Malibu fire. As to your first point I agree 100%. If we find flaws in the system, mistakes, deliberate actions based on political philosophy that made things worse, by all means let’s have that discussion. I think it’s a little early to have it now and I sick to death of every time there’s a crisis people blaming liberalism (or conservatism) and lining up to take sides and prove they were right.

Maybe. Not necessarily. A lot of this fire, including where my in laws live, is in unincorporated LA County. Not part of the city. In addition, I don’t know the mayor’s exact responsibilities in a city that also has a city council and an independent fire department. So I can’t answer you. I’m skeptical that anyone here can.

Speaking of Rick Caruso whom I wanted to be mayor, his shopping center, Palisades Village, is completely gone, burned to the ground. This was one of the most beautiful retail centers I’ve ever seen. Took years to build. What a tragedy, just terrible.

So far apparently the Getty Villa actual buildings are unharmed which bodes well for the homes above it (where my FIL’s home is) but who knows? I think their church may have burned down.

Because Trump said it might be necessary to use military force in his presser. If he hadn’t said it I wouldn’t have even thought it was an option. But apparently it is. Is this all a game? Total bluster? Who the fock knows with this guy? I’ve given up trying to predict what he’s actually going to do. I get that some of you think it’s to our advantage to have an unpredictable guy in charge. I don’t.

Not a fan of Karen Bass. I wanted the other guy to win. I’m not gonna call her a POS like @Strike though. I don’t think a mayor can cut funding on her own, that’s done by the city council I think: also the trip to Ghana is typical for big city mayors and in truth there are advantages to be gained by such trips in terms of trade and investment opportunities. It’s just bad luck that she is there right now. All in all it’s not a good look for her but trying to blame her for this catastrophe would be misguided.
