I never moved any goalposts. I wrote that part of the reason that what this woman did was terrible, beyond the damage she did to the Duke players, is that less women will be believed now and it may make some of these women more scared to come forward. You responded by calling me a POS and Jon responded with the absurd claim that over 50% of prominent rape accusations are false. You responded further by claiming that I hate the Duke players and this forms the motivation for my arguments. Your comments are hostile and rather mystifying to me. I believe that most women tell the truth in these situations including prominent ones.

I believed Ford (and still do) because I found her testimony before Congress believable. Not because I “believe all women”. Certainly not to save Roe; that’s just stupid. If Kavanaugh had been rejected Trump would have simply named another conservative justice. There were and are plenty to choose from. I continue to reject your claim that over 50% of prominent rape and sexual abuse claims are false. I reject @TimHauck’s guess that it’s 30%. How many false claims can you even name besides the one we’re discussing? Go ahead, name a few. I honestly can’t think of any but maybe I’m missing a couple.,Maybe Kobe Bryant and maybe Ben Roesthlisberger but we’ll never know for sure. Mike Tyson I believe was probably false but again I can’t be sure because the victim never retracted her claim. This Duke Lacrosse lady is the only one ever to retract that I can think of.

If we let these people in on an orderly basis, we could inoculate them the way we did at Ellis Island. If we offered them amnesty, we could inoculate them. We’ll never stop them from coming. Tighter border restrictions can slow them down, temporarily, but not stop them. And we’ll never deport more than a handful for show. So if our public health truly concerns you (and it should) I would think hard about amnesty and a path to citizenship. It’s the only way.

I agree with all of this except that the damage was done long before Trump named RFK to his cabinet. I doubt that appointment is going to make things significantly worse.

This is a false assertion and it’s extremely damaging. That many people may now believe you demonstrates why what this woman did was so harmful.

I actually think she’s helped ruined thousands of lives. We already know that the majority of sexual abuse and rape cases are never reported because many women are afraid of being called liars or attacked. Stories like this one make them less likely to come forward, and even more so if race is involved.

Well according to you I’m only a shell of my former self, but what the heck I’ll give it a try anyhow: 1. No. Fauci didn’t fund anything. There was no personal check. He was part of a team that authorized money sent to the Wuhan lab but my understanding is that this was part of long standing U.S. policy approved by several Presidents including Trump. As to the second part of this question (what the money was used for) I have no idea but I do know that Fauci and the CDC dispute your claim. 2. No idea. 3. No idea but Fauci and many other scientists claim it is not. I am not a scientist and am not prepared to argue the point. I strongly suspect however that other non-scientists who are making this claim are politically motivated.

The vast majority of those women who accuse men of rape are telling the truth. This woman is a very rare example of the opposite. Unfortunately she will be used by sexists everywhere, as well as racists.

I keep opening this thread hoping somebody linked another hot photo of Sydney Sweeney. Instead all I get is talk. You guys suck.

Let me offer an analogy: It was US policy during the 1930s to contribute money to several German large businesses as part of technological research that would benefit both countries. This aid included the chemical firm IG Farben. During this period, IG Farben developed an insecticide known as Zyklon B. Years later, Zyklon B was used at the gas chambers at Auschwitz to exterminate millions of people. Based on the logic of this thread, Franklin Roosevelt, who was head of government at the time we sent money to IG Farben, is therefore responsible for the Holocaust. See how crazy that sounds? And let’s go a step further: I named FDR because I don’t have any idea who the head of the agency was who sent money to Germany; ultimately it’s the head of state who has to be responsible. The same rule would apply today. Dr Fauci or other scientists might recommend money sent to Wuhan but in the end it happened under Trump’s watch, right? So why isn’t Donald Trump a mass murderer?

I get that. We’ll never know fully for sure but it’s a real possibility, or even probability, that it came from the Wuhan lab. Thats why I wrote “almost all” and not all. Again, even if it came from the Wuhan lab, in order for Fauci to be a mass murderer you would still have to prove that (1) it was his decision alone to send money to that lab, and not US policy established over several years (b) that the money we sent there contributed significantly to the development of this virus and (c) that all this was deliberate. I don’t believe that ANY of this is true, but you’re welcome to prove it.

Trump made the same claim this Sunday. But it’s not an invasion and that won’t fly under the law.

Way to attempt to move the goalposts and change the subject. And anyhow the jurors in the Trump hush money case heard the evidence and found Trump guilty. As they should have because it was clear that he committed the crimes described. So you can make all the general statements you want but it doesn’t change the facts of that case.
