One of the biggest lies by Trump, which all of the MAGA types seem to have bought into, is that the DOJ under Biden behaved badly, practiced lawfare, etc., and that in term justifies the crimes Trump is committing now. OK I don’t know where you’re getting your nonsense but none of it applies to me. Let’s get this straight: 1. I work in retail commercial property management. Shopping centers. I don’t clean rooms. 2. Once or twice a year I hire people at Home Depot to perform odd jobs for me like removing trash and furniture left at one of the shopping centers. I pay the asking rate which is always FAR MORE than minimum wage. I have no idea if they’re undocumented and I don’t care. Under 1099 laws what I do is perfectly legal. Because the amounts are under $1200 in cash I am not required to pay taxes or report it. So no I don’t pay Social Security for them or inquire about it because they are not my employees. I do have employees who are well paid and everything I do with them is perfectly legal. 3. You keep using the word “nepo” in regards to me which is very insulting. I inherited a family business that I worked in for 30 years helping to increase it. I’m not lucky to have inherited it because for that to happen my father, mother, and brother all had to pass away. I would trade this business for any of them to return to my life in a heartbeat. 4. My views on this issue (undocumented immigration) are passionate and strong and have NOTHING to do with personal gain (except to the level of personal gain which I believe benefits ALL Americans by these folks being here.) if you want to argue against those views, fine we can have a discussion. But as far as attacking me personally, just shut the fock up already.

Agreed. If, prior to the Civil War, the south had offered slaves freedom in exchange for leaving the plantations, most of them would have left. So let’s make a deal: let’s ask every undocumented immigrant if they truly want to be here and if they feel like they’re slaves. Anyone who feels like a slave can go back to their home country. Anyone who says “no I’m not a slave and I want to stay here” can stay. Agreed?

There’s really no arguing with some of these folks. They contradict themselves all the time, and make nonsensical arguments. Part of the reason for this, I suspect, is that they don’t want to admit, even to themselves, the root of their antipathy to undocumented immigrants: fear of replacement by those with darker skin. So they yell about law and order and slavery and trafficking, etc. it’s all absurd. Thankfully, they’re a shrinking minority, even if that’s not true in this forum.

No, that is not my position but then I don’t quite play sides the way you do. If “my side” does something wrong then I want my side punished for that wrong. I don’t want them punished for something else and I don’t want the other side to commit the same wrong. That just makes it worse.
