Your second sentence is certainly not borne out by any studies or statistics that I’m aware of. Nor is there any evidence whatsoever of an organized effort in this regard.

The argument goes that private businesses or individuals should be free to what they like, including discriminate. If a business openly discriminates then the public will punish that business by refusing to purchase its product. Thus the marketplace if left alone produces a better result than if people are forced to behave well. People resent being forced to do anything and it results in backlash against the minorities we are trying to help. Again I don’t agree with this argument, but it’s legitimate.

Just now you complained that some people here are devoid of reason and morality. Do you think my posts reflect that? Please explain.

I heard these figures today on MSNBC quoting a study from the CATO institute. Over the past 20 years acts of political violence in this country have come from these sources: 87% acts of terrorism by Muslims. 11% by right wing extremists 2% by left wing extremists

I think that Rand Paul’s objection to the Civil Rights Act is legitimate: on libertarian grounds the government shouldn’t be telling private businesses who to hire. I don’t agree with the argument- I think that trying to do away with racism supersedes libertarian principles- but it’s a debatable point and not a racist one. Kirk’s argument seemed to be a little different: more of a process objection rather than a principled libertarian objection. I’m not an expert on his POV but my sense is that he has no objection to the principle of the CRA, he just believes that it didn’t work out well in practice for black people. Which is, IMO, a terrible argument and not very legitimate. One has only to study the differences in lifestyles for blacks in the South before and after 1965, their ability to receive an equal education, use facilities restricted to whites, attend universities and gain entrance into professions to know that it’s utterly hogwash. But even so Kirk made other arguments which IMO were far more offensive: especially his views about American Muslims, transgenders, and the role of women in society.

First off I don’t think “lib” meaning liberal, and leftist are interchangeable. As I wrote earlier no matter what this guy is NOT a liberal. He may be a leftist. Or he may be a right wing “groyper”- such a weird thing. The only reason for me that I suspect there’s a pretty good chance that he’s a leftist is that the governor of Utah said so and that guy (the governor) doesn’t strike me as dishonest. He’s not MAGA, more of an old line Republican and he seems to have integrity. So unless his info is wrong (always possible) I trust he’s telling the truth and that this murderer leans left. The trouble however for me is that I do NOT trust anything that comes out of Kash Patel’s mouth- that dude IS a liar. So we’ll see how it plays out. Whether or not he’s a lefty or a righty doesn’t mean much to me. He’s a crazy evil person who deserves, IMO, the death penalty. And personally I don’t see any kind of pattern between violence and the rhetoric of the radical left or the radical right. Trump’s rhetoric, and a few others on either side, is totally irresponsible. But this silly game of “your side is the one that caused this!” is really quite dangerous. I won’t play it. I wish others wouldn’t either.

FWIW @RaiderHaters Revenge I don’t think you’re a racist. You’ve made some comments about race here which I STRONGLY disagree with but that’s not the same thing. There are definitely some racists here. You’re not one of them IMO.

Right now the Charlie Kirk murder is dominating the news leaving little room for anything else. But it’s Trump’s mishandling of the economy that will we will remember most about this year.

I posted it because it’s interesting. If you had posted your article and presented it as an interesting possibility, like I did, I would have had no objection to it. Instead you posted it in 3 different threads as “this is what happened”- that’s what I object to. You’ve made up your mind, clearly. I’m awaiting the facts.

Sorry, I’m afraid your memory may be faulty. Clinton extended NATO to Poland and the Baltic states and wanted to extend NATO to Ukraine. He wanted to give amnesty to almost all undocumented immigrants but couldn’t get it through Congress.

Well I know this isn’t true. Your views on immigration, nationalism, isolationism, etc., are certainly not aligned with the Clinton presidency.

Some of you seem awfully upset, not at Kirk’s murder, but by the possibility that the narrative is not what you thought it was.
