https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/politics/2024/07/29/biden-supreme-court-reform-presidential-immunity-term-limits/74583088007/ Term limits and a code of ethics. Also a Constitutional amendment limiting Presidential immunity though that’s not really a Supreme Court reform. None of this is new. The term limit idea was actually pushed by many conservatives, including the Heritage Foundation, right after gay marriage was made legal. It will be amusing to watch them oppose it now. Personally I think the term limits is a good idea. I have always been opposed to term limits for public office holders because elections solve that. But this is not that and lifetime appointments have always seemed foolish to me. I’m less sure about the code of conduct because I’m not sure how it would ever be enforced and any investigation would immediately become a political tool. In the worst scenario impeachment already takes care of that, at least theoretically. Thoughts?

Harris jumps out to a 4 point lead in Pennsylvania: https://www.newsweek.com/donald-trump-polling-pennsylvania-1932248 Still way too early. But if she wins Pennsylvania she wins the White House.

It’s working.

What did Trump mean when he told Christians: "In four years, you won’t have to vote again"?

Honestly it depends on the day. In addition to the properties I’m involved in several business investments- importing/exporting. -

Appreciate the response and it deserves just as long a rebuttal. But later, gotta go to work. -

Not sure about the Dakotas, but we have a West Virginia because the folks there refused to secede from the Union. -
Trump talk only- no Eagles talk allowed (Steelers talk is OK though)

So yesterday Lara Trump likened Kamala to a bag of trash, and Senator John Kennedy called her a “ding dong” and a “loon” and when challenged, claimed this is what the polls say. What polls? I don’t think this name calling is going to hurt Kamala at all. Conservatives can hurt her if they focus on the issues but they’ve seemed incapable of election discipline so far. -

She hasn’t. Her ideas are about the same as Biden’s. But they can’t stand her, so they’re willing to lie about her. Always a strong endorsement.

Since Jesus was a Jew, he might have some issues with you. -
A great reason to vote for Kamala: the NRA hates her: https://www.nraila.org/articles/20240729/kamala-harris-is-an-existential-threat-to-the-second-amendment-and-supports-gun-confiscation

Is that why Trump seems terrified to debate her?

Do what you want but I advise against this. I disagree with @jerryskids on most issues but he is one of the best posters in this forum IMO. Always engages, rarely insulting, always provides thoughtful commentary and debate. -

I don’t. I don’t think an unlimited stream of immigrants and refugees destroys America. I do think it challenges us and will force us to rethink many things. But there’s plenty of room for them. Our resources are, because of capitalism, ultimately unlimited. We need to solve climate change. We need to put as many resources as necessary into the development of nuclear fusion. We need to increase trade without tariffs and spread prosperity throughout the globe. Every problem, no matter how great, brings enormous opportunity. We need to move forward not backward. That’s a big part of the reason I believe Kamala will win: because her overall message is so much more powerful than Trump’s. -

The increased numbers make a comprehensive solution much more urgent but they don’t change the fundamentals of the issue. -

No. Trump will try (and the attempt will be catastrophic) but he won’t succeed. They’re not going anywhere. -

1. The taxpayer. 2. Yes. Unless resources are redirected, it will be a strain on the schools that have to deal with this particularly in border states. 3. They should be. That’s why we need to overhaul the entire system. As I wrote these people pay in far more than they take out. But it’s not evenly distributed which creates problem and strain. You need to accept three facts about this: 1. Undocumented immigrants aren’t going anywhere. They’re not going to be deported. They’re not going to leave voluntarily. They’re here to stay. 2. More are coming. Many many more. No wall or added security will stop them. You can slow it down but not stop it. 3. Economically they are a net benefit to our society, even if it’s not evenly distributed. If you accept the above 3 facts, then we can have a reasonable discussion about what to do next. If you refuse to accept them we can’t. It’s that simple. -
So a person tried to assassinate Trump
The Real timschochet replied to RLLD's topic in The Geek Club
So there’s still no motivation right? And no evidence that he did this because he hated Trump in particular or bought into the argument that Trump was a threat to democracy? -
Board leftists, how many of you have signed up for white dudes for Harris?

We don’t give them that much money. They pay in far more than we give them (Social Security being one of the best examples.) I believe in giving undocumented immigrants basic access to healthcare in order to avoid public health issues like tuberculosis. I believe in giving all children access to public education if only to have them occupied during the day and not running around causing mischief and worse. And I believe in a basic safety net of food and shelter for anyone in this society who can’t afford it. You may regard these as “liberal” positions but that would say more about you than me. -

Good job! Now all you have to do is convince Trump that’s what he meant. -

In this election especially, liberals and I have the same goals. And in many ways I am extremely liberal. But not really economically.
