    Kamala Harris for President thread

So the more I read, the more I’m convinced it’s going to be Mark Kelly, for a long list of reasons: 1. Astronaut, combat pilot, hero (in Iraq). He’s the real deal, people love him. 2. Married to Gabby Giffords. 3. Wins Arizona. 4. Highly respected by McCain Republicans which still represent about 15% of conservatives in Arizona and Nevada and will also peel off a chuck of Haley voters nationwide. 5. Expert on the border which will help neutralize Kamala’s biggest weakness. I think this is the guy.

For the last 20 years Seymour Hersh’s reporting has been completely discredited. His pro-Russia reporting on the Ukraine War in particular has been proven to be filled with fabrications and it’s strongly believed that he is in the pay of Putin.

    War in Israel

Link to when I wrote that Hamas wants peace?
  4. I didn’t say he was a conservative. I said I don’t know if he’s gay and even if he is, he doesn’t represent the “LGBTQ+ community.”
  5. No idea who this is but she sounds like an idiot because she’s using the word “we”- as if this was done by the LGBTQ+ community as a whole. In fact it was designed by one French dude and I don’t even know if he was gay. It’s a typical conservative thing: when Trump was shot “they” did it. When an undocumented immigrant commits a violent crime (a rare occurrence by the way) it’s “illegals did this”. The 2020 rioting was supposedly done by the BLM movement. Conservatives, who supposedly champion individualism (at least they used to) collectivize everything and blame groups of people.
  6. I’m certainly opposed to religious persecution of gays and trannies. But I don’t separate out Catholics. Muslims are the worse in this regard- they murder them. Catholics, Protestants, Mormons and Jews have all contributed to persecution. I’m against that but not against the people. Most of them aren’t mean-spirited; they’re just wrong. They’re not evil.
  7. And a lot of good stuff. I disagree with @jerryskids about how great the missionaries were (I recommend James Michener’s Hawaii for anyone who wants to learn about the American ones in particular) but overall, post-Enlightenment, I’d say the good outweighs the bad. But your hostility to Catholics is pretty repulsive.
  8. Also, the anti-Catholic bigotry in this thread is really offensive and total BS.
  9. Christianity has done great things. It was Christians who were behind the abolitionist movement and the civil rights movement. It was Christians who hid Jews during the Holocaust (in some countries anyhow.) I disagree with some of your points but I don’t want you to think I am anti-Christian.
  10. Yeah those French bishops have a nice history. They participated in Vichy and the Holocaust and allowed Jews to be deported to death camps and even informed on their hiding places in some cases. And they refused to apologize for any of it. But now they deplore this? F them.
  11. I think the indigenous populations of most of the Americas, as well as parts of Asia and Africa, might have an issue with you. If they were still alive that is.

Trump talk only- no Eagles talk allowed (Steelers talk is OK though)

If the betting odds are unchanged in 3-4 weeks I will start to think again that Trump will win. Let’s see what happens.

What’s important there is the trend line, she’s shot way up. I expect her to exceed 50% in the next few weeks. Conversely, Trump at 47% has reached his height as a result of the shooting and convention. He can only go down. I think he goes way down.
  14. It reminds a bit of Dr. Evil. Can you imagine a conversation between @Maximum Overkill and his kids? “Hey dad, I’m going surfing today.” ”Tranny surfing?” ”What? No! But afterward my friends and I are going to a movie.” ”A tranny movie?”
  15. Not me. I’m all for mocking Islam.

I see it as Kamala 55% right now. And I think that goes up. But we’ll see.
  17. Nope not like those at all. But hey thanks for trying .
  18. But don’t worry Christians; Trump promised last night that if you vote for him in this election you’ll never have to vote again.
  19. Both Christianity and Islam deserve mockery from time to time, IMO, because they’re the two religions that have most tried to force themselves on others, with horrific historical consequences. That doesn’t mean they should be persecuted, ever, but some level of mockery is fine. In this country white Christians in particular deserve a little mockery, especially the evangelicals and right wingers, because they always of late act like victims, and they have never been anything but the ruling class in this country.
  20. I was addressing him. You responded. I simply disagreed with your statement that the soldiers could not have conceived of trans- they could have if they had bothered because of its prevalence in the Western Europe of the 1920s. Of course I agree that the vast majority wouldn’t have bothered. And you and I agree on the rest of it.

To the best of my knowledge. If you know differently bring it.
  22. I think there was a principle involved, the principle that Eisenhower tried to explain when he addressed the soldiers before the invasion. Of course Ike didn’t mention the freedom to be trans, nor was he thinking about it, nor were the men thinking about it. My point is that the principle Ike DID mention, the right of all men to be free, encapsulates freedoms that we don’t think much about. So when an idiot like @Hardcore troubadour asserts that these men would have turned around, he is insulting their memory and attacking the United States which sent them there.
