This is where you guys get it so wrong. You begin with the assumption that everyone is only concerned with “whats in it for me”. You couldn’t be more incorrect in my case or in the case of most people, conservative and liberal alike.

There is no way for people with pre-existing conditions to pay the same as everyone else without eventually having universal healthcare. None. You know this.

These people are going to suffer while you attempt to put in solutions that make take years to accomplish. That’s not acceptable to me. I suspect it won’t be acceptable to the public either.

Because it’s an excuse by you to do nothing. Of course we should look at bringing costs down. But since Republicans and Democrats generally disagree on the best way to do this, it will take long months or years to come up with an effective plan. And it will take further years to determine if that plan was successful. In the meantime, millions of Americans are either without healthcare or looking at impossible increases due to this end of the subsidies. And your solution is to do nothing in the meantime.

Then it will be up to MAGA voters. If they’re willing to go along with this charade (and based on their history there’s no reason to assume they won’t) then the discharge petition will fail, and the full Epstein files will not be released, at least not during the current term.

I sure hope so. Of course if it’s true it also destroys all of the arguments that the Biden Justice Department weaponized justice against Trump in the same way Trump is currently doing against his opponents, but I never bought into that crap anyhow.

OK. I get that. And as people here that read me know I am not a cynical guy, far from it. Still- you don’t think that if the info had been truly damning, it wouldn’t have leaked somehow?

Christie is a mystery writer. A little different. Leonard is a suspense writer-there is little mystery, more thrills. I enjoy writers like Christie but prefer suspense.

Here’s what I don’t understand. One of the arguments that MAGA always makes is “if there was something there, the Biden justice department would have released it.” It’s not a bad argument. I think the Biden Justice Department was far more scrupulous than most MAGA types probably do, but still…if there was evidence that Trump was involved in something damning I have to believe it would have leaked out somehow during Biden’s term. This has led me to 3 possibilities: 1. There really is nothing there. This was my position until now. But if this is true then Trump’s current response over the last several months seems inexplicable. 2. There is something there but it’s not much, not enough to be really damning, and that’s why the Biden folks didn’t release it. But Trump’s narcissistic ego is such that he can’t allow ANY shade in his direction and that’s why he’s acting the way he is. This is, I now think, the most likely possibility. 3. There is damning evidence against Trump and there is also damning evidence against prominent Democrats (probably Bill Clinton), and the Biden folks chose to cover it up. In other words, what MAGA has been saying all along except plus Donald Trump. I hope this is not the case, but I’m starting to suspect it might be. If it is the case fock them all. Fock Trump, Biden, Garland, Bondi, Clinton, all of them. Put everybody who did this and everybody who covered it up in jail forever.

Finished Crooks by Lou Berney, now on Elmore Leonard. Never read him, been meaning to for a long time. Supposed to be the best crime fiction writer ever. I went on the internet and looked for a list of his 10 best novels which I will read in random order. First one up is called Killshot.

You asked for an example, I gave you one. Do I think Trump wants to kill children? No. Do I think you want to vote for someone that kills children? No. But I also think it’s absurd for you to accuse Democrats of doing so. You (and a few others around here) have a warped view of Democrats that really has nothing to do with reality. Netanyahu rejected that ceasefire over a year ago, and there is strong reason to believe he djd it at least in part because Trump advised him not to accept it. Trump wanted the Gaza issue unresolved and he thought that if there was a peace achieved it would help Democrats particularly in Michigan. So as a result there was an additional year of no peace, thousands of Palestinian children were killed, but Trump got his victory.

I’ve already offered my opinion on this issue numerous times. I have nothing more to add at the moment. I’m asking for YOUR opinion.
