Well me too. (Actually not so much ham but bacon and pepperoni for sure.) Screw being kosher; life is too short. Love me some oysters too. -

Is this supposed to be a quote? I don’t believe it appears in any legitimate biology textbook. Certainly it didn’t in any biology class I took. On the issue of transgenders, which btw is completely irrelevant to this topic, I will trust the science of the American Psychological Association: https://www.apa.org/topics/lgbtq/transgender-people-gender-identity-gender-expression Feel free to read up. You might learn something. -

I didn’t say you weren’t allowed to. I just couldn’t figure out why you did. Which is why I asked. Why did you quote Leviticus if you don’t believe in it? -
If you have Rob Reiner in your 2026 Death Pool….
The Real timschochet replied to Mr Fantasy's topic in The Geek Club
Insinuating that Rob Reiner molested his son, without a shred of evidence or even the slightest accusation, is as disgusting as Trump’s post. But let’s not forget it’s being offered by the same folks around here who claimed that Paul Pelosi was engaged in a gay love affair with his MAGA attacker. You guys sink to a new low on every occasion. -

Sometimes. They certainly treat them differently and worse. Institutionalized racism against young black males by the police forces of this country has always been a reality; it can’t be rationally disputed. -

More likely it’s related to your ignorance and bigotry. -

Yes the first quote is from Leviticus. Do you agree? Should all male homosexuals be put to death? -

What does the Old Testament instruct Jews to do with non believers? See 2 Chronicles 15:12-13 What does the New Testament say to do with those who don’t accept the divinity of Jesus Christ? See Luke 19:27 -

The enhanced ACA subsidies will expire at the end of December; premiums will double for millions of Americans
The Real timschochet replied to The Real timschochet's topic in The Geek Club
The issue of wealthy people getting ACA benefits is a red herring. How do I know? Because moderate Republicans have spent the last several weeks attempting to come up with a compromise plan that would extend the subsidies but restrict people with too much income from getting them. The leadership killed the amendment because (a) they don’t want to extend the subsidies period and (b) the amount of wealthy people who actually take advantage of ACA is so small as to be almost irrelevant; it’s simply a Republican talking point. -
Are we at war with Venezuela yet?
The Real timschochet replied to Ron_Artest's topic in The Geek Club
Trump is addressing the nation tonight and it may be on this topic. Forget about what is or what is not “war”. It’s a dumb debate. The real question is this: what’s the goal here? Per the interview with Suzie Wiles (which she has not refuted, only argued that it was selectively edited) the goal is to remove Maduro from power. OK in itself that’s not an unreasonable goal; we can all agree he’s a bad guy. But how far are we willing to go to make this happen? And if it does happen, what then? It was fairly easy to remove Saddam Hussein when we finally decided to do it. But we had no plan for afterwards. -
She is BRINGING IT! This woman is quickly becoming my favorite Congresswoman.

It’s not “some” reporting. It’s literally ALL the reporting. And as I mentioned, the response by Republican politicians in swing districts or states really tells us everything we need to know. -
Jasmine Crockett tells it like it is
The Real timschochet replied to The Real timschochet's topic in The Geek Club
Honestly I don’t want to get too far over my skis on this. I have no idea if Crockett will win. I simply reject the assumption that she has no chance. I think she has a reasonable shot, perhaps 45%. -

Ah. So you think that Jasmine’s ethnicity will prevent her from winning? -

But stating “this person is a Muslim, therefore he is a greater risk threat, therefore I am not allowing him to come here” is ALSO a crappy risk assessment strategy; IMO, far worse than the one you’re criticizing. -

The Real timschochet replied to Mr Fantasy's topic in The Geek Club
Let’s agree that we don’t want any radical Muslims in this country. Now the problem: how do we determine who the radical ones are? Your argument, if I understand you correctly, is that there is no way to do this. Therefore we should simply exclude them all on behalf of safety concerns (if I am misunderstanding you please let me know.) I find this to be unacceptable. I’m not willing to do it, not willing to support any politicians who promote this way of thinking. For me it’s a red line. I agree with @Fnord that your position is a bigoted one but that does not make you a bigot. -

Jasmine also has the same attraction as Trump and Mamdami: she fights. That’s more important than her views on any issue. -

Seems unlikely right? People forget how gleeful Democrats were in 2015 when Donald Trump started winning in Republican polling by huge margins. They KNEW back then that if Trump won the nomination it guaranteed a Clinton Presidency because nobody would ever vote for Donald in the general election. Be careful what you wish for. -

The Real timschochet replied to The Real timschochet's topic in The Geek Club
Even if the reporting is inaccurate (and I have no idea if this is the case) the reaction of Republican politicians in swing districts certainly is not. In a word they are panicking (thats the word THEY are using not me.) If you’re right then this won’t have much of an impact on the upcoming elections. But it sure sounds like it will. -
Jasmine Crockett tells it like it is
The Real timschochet replied to The Real timschochet's topic in The Geek Club
So Republicans seem delighted that Jasmine is running. Perhaps they’re right, perhaps she is simply too liberal to win in Texas. But on the other hand if it’s Ken Paxton against her, well, talk about a beatable candidate. Normally I would agree that Crockett is the perfect foil for Republicans, but you take Paxton, affordability, healthcare, MAGA’s increasing exhaustion with Trump, the alienation of Latinos with the conservative movement due to ICE…who knows? Add all that up and she might have a real shot. -
Haven’t listened, not a huge modern country fan. But if AI can produce melodies I enjoy, why not?
