Sigh. Can I switch my vote?

Elections don’t work in an undeveloped society. We should have learned this by now but we don’t. 20 years ago we tried to force Iraq to have elections. The results were entirely predictable: Sunnis voted for the Sunnis, Shiites voted for the Shiites, and Kurds voted for the Kurds. And people were threatened and killed and the usual corruption, and those elected immediately tried to end all further elections. Free elections require years of an educated populace and western values (eg the rights and identity of the individual). Otherwise you’re wasting your time.

Anyone else like ICE drinks? I’m kind of addicted to the fruit punch, grape raspberry, and cherry limeade flavors.

Disarming Hamas is an impossibility. About as likely as trying to disarm all citizens living in the state of Louisiana. Hamas offered to give up their long range missiles and heavy weapons, but not their small arms. Since I suspect they’re extremely low or completely out of the former anyhow, this isn’t real hardship for them. And I also suspect it will be accepted. The bigger quandary is this: who in their right mind is going to invest in rebuilding Gaza with Hamas still in place there having murdered all viable opposition? How is this peace supposed to proceed from here?

It’s kind of boring, and I considered a lot of people, but in the end I once again have to go with @seafoam1. He posts as much or more as anyone here. Nearly all of his posts contain a personal or general insult; almost none of his posts contain any content worth discussion. Yes he is on the right and that may cause some of you to want to deny him this prize because he is on “your team”. But do you really want this guy on your team? I sure wouldn’t. Anyhow he gets my vote.

I wrote that after it was done he gave his permission and seemed to approve (which is why I wrote “apparent”; “explicit” is too strong for me; Trump almost NEVER does anything explicitly.) He’s 100% right. One of the biggest lies by Trump, which all of the MAGA types seem to have bought into, is that the DOJ under Biden behaved badly, practiced lawfare, etc., and that in term justifies the crimes Trump is committing now. It’s total bullsh!t. In fact the only wrong that Biden’s DOJ committed was hesitating a couple of years before indicting Trump. They should have done so in 2021. Then he would be in jail, where he belongs, and we wouldn’t have the horrific situation in this country we face today. For this the blame has to go to Garland.

Your town deserves to have statues of Louis Armstrong, Louis Prima, Dr. John, etc. lining the streets.
