Looking more and more like Biden is going to stick in. If that’s the case so be it. Maybe he can win after all. Nothings impossible. -
Kamala Harris worst polling numbers for any VP... EVER

If she’s the nominee I sincerely hope you guys keep up this line of attack. I hope Trump focuses on stuff like this- he usually does whenever he’s confronted by a strong woman. -
Project 2025 isn’t Q. It was written by the leaders of the Heritage Foundation and Federalist Society and close associates of Donald Trump. It may or may not be enacted but it’s not some conspiracy theory. Also @Cdub100 is not a conservative. Anti-semitism and Holocaust denial are views that are incompatible with American conservatism. @Cdub100 is a radical extremist bigot.

Whatever his errors Cuomo was a governor. Trump was my President. As Harry Truman said, this is where the buck stops. -

Hmm. You’re wrong. https://www.nbcnews.com/news/amp/ncna1191216 Ive always thought people made too much of this. Trump’s incompetence during Covid, which cost this country hundreds of thousands of unnecessary deaths, had little to do with his comments, stupid as they were. It was his overall policy, or lack of one, which was so incredibly dreadful. For details I highly recommend the book The Divider which is composed entirely of interviews with his closest aides and advisors at the time. Nobody can read that book and come away thinking this guy should be anywhere near the White House ever again. -

Whats so ironic about this post is that almost nobody here has less self awareness than you (well, maybe the guy you were responding to.) -

You also wrote that you want :Democrats to get what they deserve, which sounds like you’re eager for punishment and retribution. But whatever. What amazes me is that you actually believe that Trump could ever straighten out anything. What in his track record makes you believe this? His incompetence the last time out led to economic calamity and the unnecessary deaths of millions of people. Before that he drove every business he ever had into bankruptcy. Putting all politics aside he’s a corrupt fool who gets everything wrong. What could he ever straighten out? -

Understand that I agree that the equity part of DEI is bad for the economy. But compared to Trump’s tariffs it’s like pennies on the dollar. Compared to the current anti-immigration movement of conservatives it’s like pennies on a $500 bill. It’s not even close to the main problem. This is what frustrates me so much about conservatives these days. You guys focus on the minor stuff and you can’t see the forest for the trees. Take the Chips Act. It’s got all kinds of DEI crap in it for sure. All kinds of liberal provisions. But despite all that it will absolutely transform American industry. Long term it’s going to provide huge prosperity especially to red states. It’s a huge win for America. Yet all of you opposed it because you can’t tolerate the DEI stuff. It’s stupid. -

In the real universe in which Trump’s tax cuts and tariffs and moves away from energy reform spelled long term doom for our economy. -

Well your last paragraph kind of gives it away and provides every rebuttal I would have offered you. Sure you make some decent points, especially the “interfering with market forces” part- that’s the main reason I voted Republican most of my life: but the current crop of conservatives know nothing about market forces and their policies (anti-trade, pro-tariff, anti-migration, anti-globalism) are far worse than liberals. Liberals under Biden at least are cognizant of the market some of the time. So I stand by my assertion- liberal policies are almost uniformly better. -

I can’t think of a liberal policy that is inferior to current conservative ideas. Seriously I can’t. -

I can’t deal with it because it’s not true. Economically, socially, foreign policy wise- Trump was worse in every way. It’s not even particularly close. -

Well you don’t really have to. If Biden refuses to quit, and the Democrats “get what they deserve,” then Trump will be our next President. -

I have no idea. The pressure is building and I’m assuming Biden will eventually succumb to it. If he doesn’t, who knows? It’s never happened before. -

I don’t think your analysis is right but even if you are, elections are not supposed to be about people getting “what they deserve”, or “retribution” or “sticking it to the libs” or any of the crap conservatives seem to be into these days. They should be about what’s best for the country. If you truly believe that’s Trump then fine, vote for him. But don’t do it to punish anyone. That’s just crappy. -

It’s all about the polls and the money. If the polls stay where they are, the money dries up, and he’s gone. -

Some people keep arguing that Dems should keep Biden because remember what happened in 1968. But 1968 had two elements that don’t exist today: 1. Robert Kennedy was seen as the heir to his brother, and LBJ hated him. So there was a personal bitterness between the Kennedy folks and Humphrey, LBJ’s chosen successor. If RFK hadn’t been murdered he would have become President in all likelihood. 2. Students and leftists wanted an alternative to Humphrey because of the Vietnam War. This was a much bigger deal than the Hamas war because American youth were directly involved and being drafted. At first, the left went with Eugene McCarthy, but he had no real chance. Then they switched to RFK. After RFK was killed there was no chance of anyone but Humphrey so the left went crazy and rioted at the Convention. None of that is going to happen. So I don’t see the same level of chaos if Biden quits; I think the party unites behind Kamala very quickly and hopes for the best. -

The only question you should ask yourself is this: if Kamala was a dude would you write this post? -

Sure. But I doubt anyone was satisfied. Here’s the thing: the only way the Democrat, whoever it is, wins this election is if the focus is on Trump. And the result of the debate is that, if Biden stays in, the focus will not be on Trump. Thats why he’s got to quit. It’s unfair IMO, it’s nobody’s fault. But because of that debate Biden probably cant win. Not saying Kamala or somebody else will do better but we’ve got to try. Otherwise we’re just throwing this election away to satisfy Biden’s ego. If it were a normal Republican running I’d be OK with that. But I truly believe that Donald Trump is an existential threat to America (I know you disagree) and so I’m not OK with it. Biden has to go. -

I just watched the interview. Biden was stubborn, detached from reality, filled with hubris, incredibly arrogant (he keeps saying he is the ONLY ONE who can defeat Trump.) I am writing this as somebody who, unlike most in this forum, actually likes Joe Biden. I approve of his policies and think he’s done a very fine job as President. But we are watching a Shakespearean tragedy played out in real time. Like MacBeth, like Muhammad Ali at the end of his career. He doesn’t want to leave the stage. And the consequences are very great. It was Mick Jagger who wrote over 50 years ago “what a drag it is getting old”. Mick is currently on tour… -
