    June 27 Presidential debate

There is still a big disconnect here. First off I now sadly believe that Biden is suffering from sone mental decline. This does not make him, IMO, incompetent to be President. He’s not as sharp as he was before, obviously, But I believe he’s still sharp enough. Second, I still strongly believe that you and other conservatives have been lied to by doctored videos of Biden. Both can be true at rhe same time. Your meme here claims you “knew”; that is false. You didn’t know anything and you still don’t. None of us know whether or not Biden has a bad night last night or whether he’s a doddering most of the time. We can only speculate about this. I believe that Biden has performed pretty well throughout his Presidency. Finally I see no evidence that the MSM has lied to me about this.

It was a stupid, awful lie. I agree it was disgusting. If Biden were running against a honest guy who didn’t engage in his own disgusting lies (at the debate and on a daily basis) it would probably make a big difference to me.

If Trump becomes president...tell us the bad things he will do

2nd night in a row I’m up at 3am. Really sucks. But, you guys asked the question so I will try to answer. There is a big difference between Trump policies I don’t like and Trump policies that I believe will truly hurt all of us. The former is too long to count, so I will concentrate here on the latter. In no particular order. I believe: 1. Trump will cut off aid to Ukraine and negotiate a deal which allows Russia to permanently occupy most of Ukraine. We will agree to guarantee the rump state that remains, but this will be similar to the rump state of Czechoslovakia that England and France guaranteed after Munich in 1938, which was meaningless. Russia will become a territorial threat to all of Western Europe, almost guaranteeing a future war in which we may be forced to put troops on the ground, and which may also ultimately lead to a nuclear war. To make matters worse, I believe that Trump has every intention of pulling the USA out of NATO. Trump will also not lift a finger to defend Taiwan if China decides to invade, or South Korea from North Korea. This is what isolationism is all about. 2. Trump’s attempt to conduct a mass deportation of millions of undocumented immigrants will result in mass protests, rioting (most of these folks aren’t violent but some will become so), an infinite amount of legal challenges. The result will be a total failure- imagine the War Against Drugs multiplied 100 times over. But even the attempt will cost billions of dollars, create a terrible image for the United States, and drive food prices (and all prices) through the roof. 3. in terms of the our economic well being, Trump’s tariffs plan will be the most catastrophic thing he will attempt. However I don’t see him succeeding with this. I figure he’ll talk about it but in the end he will face too much opposition from market forces so I’m less concerned about it. However if it happens we are truly focked. 4. Biden’s actions on climate change, while some environmentalists believe are too limited, are a positive step forward in dealing with what is our most pressing problem. Trump is of the view that this problem does not exist. He is truly convinced that our long term economic woes can be solved by massive oil and coal drilling and reversing all of the environmental actions that Biden has taken. This will effectively destroy our last chance to avoid calamity and destruction in future years which are coming upon us much sooner than we think. There’s a whole lot more but these are my main concerns.

What choice do we have? We sincerely believe that another 4 years of Trump will be a disaster, a calamity. Of course we have to rally around Biden no matter what shape he’s in.

Biden just now: “I might not debate as well as I used to, I may not walk as well as I used to, but I tell the truth.” Very good speech. Hopefully quiets some people down. He’s not quitting so we gotta back him and hope for the best. Let’s go Joe!

Going out to dinner and waiting for my wife and daughters to get ready. Lots of lag time. Trump’s performance, which was dreadful, had no impact on my humility.

That’s not… Strike being pretty dishonest here.

Biden lost the debate last night but Trump didn’t win. Trump didn’t mop any floors; he was simply dreadful. Just not quite as bad as Biden.

If it happened I would be very disturbed about it. My impression is that Tapper and Bash were very fair even though I wish they had done more fact checking on Trump’s lies.

I do believe this. The vast majority of those who vote for either Biden or Trump are good people. No doubt in my mind.

This must be it. I haven’t welched on any bet. I offered to pay @Engorgeous George but he declined, for now. If Biden is replaced I will pay him and every one else. At this point I will be happy to lose those bets as I now believe, after last night’s disaster, that unless Biden steps away Trump will probably win the election. But so I WANT to lose those wagers. But I still don’t think it’s going to happen. Do you?

Sorry which one? I was pretty exhausted last night.

Hey I pretty much made the same prediction. I was wrong, what can I say? Feel free to rip me as well.

That’s bad. That’s really awful. Oh well. What a topsy turvy time we’re in right now.

Well first off I disagree with you. And I would argue that YOU have prospered under Biden. To answer you regarding this time around: if I prosper due to his proposed tax cuts and economic changes I will acknowledge that. I always do. Economic matters are simply a difference of opinion and I will always try to be fair. On the other hand, if we have mass deportations, abandon Ukraine and NATO, turn our back on the world, balk at our last chance to combat climate change- if these things happen it won’t matter to me how much I might personally benefit in the short term (though I doubt I will.)

On the other hand, maybe the loser is the guy who spends his time commenting on every post I make.
  17. The Real timschochet

Nah I’ve been pretty consistent on this. I don’t want Trump as President, I think it it will be a catastrophe, much worse than last time, a real threat to our democracy. But we’ll get through it.

Hey everybody. Finally slept for a while and had some time to think about this a little more. 1. We’ll see what the polls say but Biden is obviously in big trouble. 2. I really don’t think he’s going to quit. And until and unless he does, nobody is going to force him out. Speculation is fun but ultimately pointless. Until we hear differently Biden is the guy. 3. Which means Trump is more likely than not to be President. But nothing is for sure. My team is down by 2 touchdowns and we got a QB who can’t move and has just thrown a pick 6. And it’s the middle of the 4th quarter. And he’s not coming out of the game. But it’s still not over. Who knows how this end? (Forgive my football analogy; I fully understand that this is NOT a game.) 4. If Trump is elected it will be bad. He will be awful. But the country isn’t ending; it won’t be the last election. And half this nation is opposed to him and we’re not going anywhere. Who knows? Maybe ultimately it will be a good thing because he will be so awful that we may get a permanent rejection of many of his ideas. But all the same I’d rather not. 5. Wishing everyone well here while I’m on vacation. The more I visit the beautiful places in this world the more I think that we spend way too much time fighting over minor squabbles. Sure we have some significant differences, and we’ll work them out on most issues we have a lot more in common. What a marvelous world and way of life the west and capitalism has created. America and much of Western Europe, like the country I’m visiting, is truly a paradise of prosperity and happiness. I don’t think it’s going anywhere.

    June 27 Presidential debate

No. They’re not. Most reporters didn’t believe that Biden was this bad. I didn’t either. I still don’t think he has any kind of dementia. Just old and a lot slower. We were wrong. But it wasn’t intentional.
  21. The Real timschochet

    June 27 Presidential debate

They keep talking about the next debate. But if the polls result in what I anticipate then why would Trump agree to a second debate? I wouldn’t.
  22. The Real timschochet

    June 27 Presidential debate

You won’t hear from me for a while after tonight. I’m supposed to be on vacation and I need a break from this. And I need some sleep.
  23. The Real timschochet

    June 27 Presidential debate

For those of you who keep saying that’s the end for Biden, hes gone, etc- it’s not impossible (nothing is these days) but logistically it’s extremely unlikely that Biden will leave the race.
  24. The Real timschochet

Trump talk only- no Eagles talk allowed (Steelers talk is OK though)

Well the state of the race has changed in the last two hours. I wrote earlier that I still think Biden will win. Upon reflection that sure seems like wishful thinking. The odds have to favor Trump at this point. I don’t think Biden had any intention of quitting although he should. I hope for the best. Doesn’t look good at the moment.

This is another good analogy. You’re doing well tonight.
