And ... here we go again with a Colo. Baker not accomodating all patrons

As opposed to a Kosher Italian deli?

It could be. I’m rather passionate about it.

Because I don’t like Trump and don’t want to make a sign promoting Trump in any way. Why should I be required to do so?

    Happy Juneteenth everyone

Well that’s one way to look at it. Another way is that other countries, like England, simply ended it and didn’t have to fight a war to do so. I don’t believe the Civil War was necessary. I think we could have ended slavery peacefully and gradually without losing a million dead. Pride, stupidity and extremism on all sides prevented this.
  5. https://amp.cnn.com/cnn/2024/06/18/politics/biden-immigration-executive-action This is great news. It’s another reason to vote for Biden since Trump will surely reverse this. Hundreds of thousands of families will be protected now. Damn this is such a good thing.

Trump talk only- no Eagles talk allowed (Steelers talk is OK though)

Some interesting polls here. https://www.newsweek.com/donald-trump-joe-biden-presidential-election-polls-1914684 Yjese numbers are all over the place. Who knows?

If Trump gets voted into office this year...

Schiff is a much smarter man than I am.

I don’t pretend anything. I’ve always said I was left of center on some issues and not so much on others. Never tried to hide it. Sorry you won’t answer my hypothetical, I thought it was a good one.

I think you need to read more about this issue. Taylor Branch’s three volume history would be a good place to start. Focus on the Montgomery Bus Boycott.

@squistion- let’s suppose I own a sign company. A black man comes into my store and demands I make him a “Blacks for Trump 2024” poster. Do I have the right to refuse?

The difference is that the Civil Rights Act dealt with widespread discrimination throughout an entire community. If only one bakery in a community refused to serve black people there would have been no need for a law. In any event most private segregation was defeated not by law but by the economic power of the black people who lived in the segregated area.

It’s supposed to be a free country. I think it’s stupid to discriminate against gay people, trans people. I think it’s rotten. But people should have the right to be stupid and rotten.
  13. If Orwell had been a Holocaust denier the odds would be a lot higher.
  14. I expect the debate to end this nonsense for most Americans. Not you guys though.
  15. If Biden were 40 years younger I’m sure all of you would vote for him. Yeah right.

    June 27 Presidential debate

    Great post, 100% accurate.
  17. Well I suspect I agree with you on the Colorado baker anyhow.

He shouldn’t have to bake the cake. Full stop. It’s not even a close decision.
  19. OK. I strongly disagree with you that deporting all of these people is a reasonable position.
  20. If someone said to you “I am opposed to this action by Biden because some of these people he is protecting, who have been married to US citizens for at least 10 years, and most of whom came here as young children, and have never committed any felonies, might nontheless be violent criminals and they should all be deported because we can’t take a chance”, would you regard that as a reasonable position to hold?
  21. No doubt it could backfire. Lots of people are currently unreasonable on this issue. But hopefully common sense will prevail and Biden will win.
  22. Well again, as I told the other guy, you’re quite welcome to offer an example of a violent criminal who is an undocumented immigrant, been here 10 years, and married to an American citizen for 10 years. If you can’t do that I’ll continue to make my assertion.
  23. I notice there isn’t a lot of concern about security on our northern border.
  24. This won’t be at the expense of the citizen. The citizen gains: you, me, everyone. This is to our benefit, guy.
