Again, nonsensical response. How is this a win? At best it’s a “we’re not going to lose quite as badly as we would have” and even that’s a question.

It’s not that complicated because it makes no sense. If 30% tariffs incentivizes China (dubious but let’s accept the premise for now) then we didn’t need 145% tariffs, and all the shortages that have already started and are coming our way no matter what happens now. In addition if the purpose of the tariffs was to get China to lower theirs (which as yet hasn’t happened and is unclear if it ever will) then what about the goal to bring manufacturing back to the USA? You can’t have both. Occam’s Razor tells me that Trump started this whole mess because of a stupid belief in tariffs, it blew up in his face, and he’s backing off. That’s a relief but we’re supposed to congratulate him for it? Really?

I think it may very well be legal. I think it’s a terrible look though. It’s one of those things that defines a Presidency and not in a good way. 100 years from now when people think about the Trump Presidency this plane may be one of the first things they think of.

This is great news and a huge relief. But 30% is still too high. And is 10% from China an improvement on what they had prior to Liberation Day? I can’t seem to get a clear answer on that, but it sure sounds like no. Which means there was no point to this entire endeavor. But at least it looks to be over.

I didn’t discount it. We don’t know what, if anything, was agreed to. The only power that Trump can do without Congress’ approval is to lower the tariffs he put in place. I hope he does.

“Total reset” is from Trump’s social media. And they can’t announce any deal tomorrow. There can be no deal unless it’s ratified by Congress. Before that it’s just talk.

This is insanity. During 1/6 hundreds of folks, encouraged by Trump, violently assaulted Capitol Police, broke into the Capitol, pissed and defecated on the floor. In this instance someone is accused of shoving an officer, it’s denied and there is no evidence. How can it be the same or worse? If you truly believe this you’re not a serious person.

Please show me members of Congress assaulting law enforcement in this instance.

And again this is really dumb response. I don’t care what source @squistion used, or what format; I care what point was being made. The point here was that if Trump offers a “total reset” on the tariffs he unilaterally imposed, then he’s basically caving, as many of us predicted he would. If you disagree with this analysis, offer a rebuttal. Personally I think it makes a lot of sense. But if you disagree, come up with a thoughtful response. Unlike some others around here (like the idiot I just responded to) I sense you’re capable of it at times. But don’t just attack the format. It’s dumb.
