The point I was trying to make (which apparently @TheNewGirl didn’t take so well) is that it’s not the aliens that make the first two movies so good, not the dark suspense or the action, great as that is. It’s the characters. Characters you remember, with great lines, like Vasquez and Hudson. You take those characters away and it becomes no different than a million other horror films. Which is the problem with all of the sequels. If they want to return to what made the early ones great they need to have memorable heroes and villains.

It does not matter who I like or dislike. Let me offer you one final example from history: Julius Streicher was one of the worst anti-semites who ever lived. A high level Nazi, a personal friend of Hitler’s, he was all for the Holocaust and would have gladly participated had he known about it. But he didn’t know; he wasn’t directly involved. Even so he was tried at Nuremberg with the top Nazis, found guilty and executed. This was a gross injustice IMO. He was an evil man who deserved to die but we should never have executed him. It’s a stain on what we did at Nuremberg which was otherwise mostly just. Back in college I wrote a whole paper on this question and I defended Streicher.

I find this insulting. I think I can try and look at things objectively whether they serve me or not.I have defended Trump many times in the past when I thought he was being wrongfully criticized. If I thought he was being wrongfully prosecuted I would say so. For example I’m still not fully convinced that Trump incited violence on January 6. Part of me believes that he had no idea what was going to happen and simply reacted. Thats a dereliction of his duty IMO, and shows gross incompetence, but it’s not a crime so if true he shouldn’t be prosecuted. Im waiting to hear the evidence on that one. Even so I don’t think it’s “law fare”

IMO you’re buying in to the conservative narrative on this “walking vegetable” stuff and that it’s without solid foundation. I’m hoping the upcoming debate will not only disprove this once and for all but will also cause the public to question Trump’s competence. Provided Trump actually shows up.

I will object when and if a particular prosecution seems unjust to me. In the case of Trump I haven’t seen that.

Why do you bring her up? She’ll most likely be running in 2028 after Joe finishes his second term. Of course she’ll face some tough competition, but if she wins the nomination hopefully you’ll consider voting for her.

I don’t know anything about Philadelphia, never been there. However I plan to go for the first time this fall to visit my nephew who was accepted into Drexel. So I’ll keep you updated!

I don’t believe Biden is a zombie and I think he’s been very competent. IMO that Wall Street Journal article is a hack piece because it only quotes Republicans directly, like Kevin McCarthy, who has reversed himself on this issue: earlier this year he discussed how alert Biden was. It just goes to show how downhill WSJ has gone since Murdoch took over.

Like many modern day conservatives he really has no understanding of Communism or Marxism or Leftism or any of the other terms he rather stupidly throws around. To @EternalShinyAndChrome and so many like him, a Communist is anyone who disagrees with Donald Trump. It’s basically the Fuhrerprinzip.

There hasn’t been an especially good Alien movie since Aliens. But what the heck I’ve been a sucker for all of them and I’ll probably see this one too.

If she perjured herself she had to quit. I have no idea if she did. But look, Trump committed a crime here and needs to be held accountable. I knew this months before I had any clue who Fani Willis was. Trump is on tape trying to pressure the Georgia Secretary of State to create more votes so that he can win an election. That’s totally illegal and it feels open and shut. I really have no idea why he wasn’t tried for this in 2021. It’s really ridiculous that it’s taken this long.
