Trump talk only- no Eagles talk allowed (Steelers talk is OK though)
The Real timschochet replied to The Real timschochet's topic in The Geek Club
No, because inflation is world wide, was caused by Covid, and internal American spending has made little difference. That said I agree our deficit and overall debt is a long term ticking time bomb which neither political party is willing to address. But my observation is that despite their rhetoric on the subject, Republicans have been significantly worse than Democrats on this issue (mainly because Democrats are willing to raise taxes) and that Trump’s current plans will raise the deficit far more than any Democrat or anyone who has come before him. Would you agree with any of this? -

Putting aside everything else, if you believe this please explain how you can support Donald Trump and the current GOP agenda which involves increasing government deficit spending far more than anything the Democrats have proposed. -

Hysterical? No. And it’s not on selective countries, as I continue to point out. It’s on ALL countries. Trump confirmed this again yesterday. -

I have no idea if it will alleviate inflation. But I do know that your assertion “the government caused the problem” is lazy, extremely simplistic, and almost certainly wrong, and this makes me skeptical of your other assertions. -

Have you read this guys posts? Have you read his posts regarding me in particular? I think my responses have been relatively gentle. -

It’s perfectly fine for you to trust your own opinion when it conflicts with outside data. The term for this is “cognitive dissonance” and it’s very popular around here. You’re absolutely entitled to do this, and reasonable people will simply continue to disregard everything you post. -

Couldn’t the same complaint be made about Trump’s simplistic solution? (Drill drill drill when we already are currently producing more oil than at any time in our history.) Inflation has pretty much petered out, even if it’s still 20% higher than it was before Covid. IMO, neither Trump’s proposed solution, or Kamala’s, will have a huge effect on this. But we KNOW that some of Trump’s other proposals, particularly his tariff ideas, will make inflation far worse. -

It’s probably not wise to begin any post directed at @seafoam1 with these two words. -

North Carolina is an evenly divided state. I wouldn’t be surprised to see it go either way in November. However, the extremism of the GOP candidate for governor, Mark Robinson, may end up really helping Kamala. Would you agree with this? -

This depends on whom you believe. There are lots of compelling arguments to be made either way, IMO. But I think that Kamala’s proposal will be a popular one. -

Wow. First, @Engorgeous George, I very much appreciate the sacrifice your family made. I’m grateful to all those who serve, then and now. As for @seafoam1 I read today that per Pew Research nearly 47% of Republicans believe that the upcoming election will have an unfair/false result. So here we go again. It appears, sadly, that your delusions are widespread. -

In addition to the catastrophic tariff proposal, Trump proposed several measures which will balloon the deficit even more. Not that the Democrats have any better ideas. But then, Democrats are not supposed to be party of fiscal responsibility. Republicans used to be. Under Trump’s leadership they seem to have completely forgotten about it. -

If anything, conservatives who refuse to take any action to combat climate change have contributed the most to this problem (along with the border issue as well.) -

Actually my family that died were never in Germany. They were in Poland, Ukraine and Romania, and they weren’t sent to work camps, they were sent to death camps and died in gas chambers. (Except for the ones in Ukraine who were rounded up and shot .) My grandparents who luckily survived did live in Germany briefly in the 1920s but were not Communists. I read these posts filled with your ignorance, bigotry and hatred and I feel sorry for you. As I’ve mentioned before you’re probably not a bad guy in your personal life, you no doubt love your family and friends and are probably honest. At least I don’t know any differently. Yet somehow you’ve been consumed with this sickness of anti-semitism. It’s poison, and you’re the biggest victim of it. -

Oh you didn’t have to preach to me about that speech. I love that speech, except for the fact that he predicts Medicare will lead to communism in the near future. That was dumb. But I still love the speech for its general defense of capitalism. I’ve been to the Reagan library several times and watched it. But- I was not offering you my own opinion of Reagan in the previous post. I was offering the opinion of liberals and the general public prior to 1980. Liberals believed, wrongly, he was an idiot (many if not most still do.) They completely ignored speeches like the one in 1964 and concentrated on his platitudes in 1976 and 1980 and his b acting career and concluded the guy was a dunce. The general public had no opinion on his smarts but didn’t like him much outside of California conservatives, because he was regarded as angry. Don’t forget that his claim to fame prior to 1976 was harsh measures against the hippies at UC Berkeley and Haight-Asbury, which was popular in the 60s but not so much 10 years later. If Reagan had won the nomination in 1976 he would have lost to Jimmy Carter far worse than Ford did; even Reagan himself acknowledges this. It wasn’t until 1980 that the Gipper changed his persona, and here is where the analogy to Kamala comes in. Like Kamala, (but unlike Obama) Reagan went through a transformation from grumpy old anti-Communist to centrist optimist for the future. Likewise, Kamala has gone through a transformation from angry leftist progressive to centrist optimist for the future. In neither case was the transformation manufactured. There has to be a genuine nature to it or it just won’t work. I am NOT saying that Kamala is Reagan or that she will be anywhere near as impactful. Time will tell. All I am saying for now is that their campaigns for President are remarkably similar from opposite directions. -
Love both of those but of the huge battle episodes I think my favorite is the one when the Wildlings attack the Nights Watch and Ygritte dies in Jon’s arms. That was just an awesome battle from start to finish.

Again I think it’s you who is missing the mark here not me. Read my above post on Reagan. He really did come off as unlikable until 1980. And liberals never did like him even after that. I think you’ve fallen in the same trap here. -

It’s you who has been fooled into thinking she’s unlikable. Why? Because Fox News told you so? Because her approval ratings were low? Her approval ratings have been tied to Biden and inflation. Most of America knew nothing about her until a month ago. When they listen to her they really like her. I wrote she has charisma. Liberals refused to accept that Reagan had charisma. You may be too young to remember (I’m an old man so I do). They considered him an unlikable angry guy from California and a total idiot. They were frustrated that he never gave interviews except to very friendly sources and always spoke in platitudes. They called him the “Teflon” man and were incredibly frustrated by his ascent. Reagan was smarter than they were.
