  1. We need to remember that every one of us reading this thread is unusual, because in some form or another we’ve paid attention to this trial. Most people haven’t. They’re going to wake up tomorrow and see headlines “Trump is guilty!” “Trump is a convicted felon!” How they will react is pure speculation; nobody really knows.
  2. Bolded is trademarked. Expect Jon to send you a cease and desist letter.

Trump looking at Musk as policy advisor

Not for this case. For the other 3, yes.
  4. I think that’s standard for New York. Dumb IMO.
  5. I remember. They were terrible years for us. The only thing that saved this country were some of his advisors who kept him from doing stuff too crazy. However this didn’t help us during Covid when his incompetence helped kill thousands of people. I highly recommend the book “The Divider” which is the best work I’ve read on his first term. It’s based entirely on interviews with Republicans who worked for him.

Elon: advise me how to stay out of prison?
  7. Biden is none of those things, but nice try.
  8. Can’t speak for @GutterBoy but I absolutely believe this. However my main reasons for opposing him are his policies, which are terrible for America, his desire to be a dictator, his bigotry, and his incompetence. Corruption is way down the list for me.
  9. You keep repeating this. Yet so far as I know there hasn’t been a single person in this forum who has predicted this will kill Trump’s chances of winning the election. I HOPE it does. I would love to think that there’s a lot of Americans who won’t vote for a convicted felon. But I also didn’t want to believe that millions of people would vote for a bigot, a wannabe dictator, a xenophobe, an incompetent boob. Sadly I was proven wrong. So who knows?
  10. If you listen to conservative attorneys on Fox (like Hugh Hewitt and Turley and Andrew McCarthy) they absolutely agree with your interpretation. Most other legal experts I’ve heard, like Andrew Weismann and Neal Katyal, take the opposite view. So I guess we’ll see. But I think a successful appeal will be unlikely.
  11. I don’t believe this verdict will be thrown out. All appeals will fail, IMO.
  12. I don’t want you to leave the board. If you want to bet money let me know.
  13. No I disagree. I believe Trump was convicted because 12 honest people found him guilty. If Biden is ever prosecuted, his verdict will be based on whether he is guilty of the crime charged. I truly believe that. I believe in our system.
  14. It depends on the crime, IMO. For example: most people know that I am in favor of amnesty for undocumented immigrants and a path to citizenship rights on most counts. But my exception is the right to vote. If you committed the crime of coming to this country without papers you should NEVER have the right to vote so long as you live. No exceptions.
  15. You ARE cynical. And I think it’s pretty insulting to the jurors and the entire judicial system.
  16. Hey my bet is still good- 4-1 odds. You want in?
  17. Everybody said this was the least likely conviction of the 4 indictments.
  18. Agreed but I honestly think he should serve a few days in jail for contempt of court.
  19. He can’t pardon himself. Biden can’t pardon him either. Only the Governor of New York.

Trump talk only- no Eagles talk allowed (Steelers talk is OK though)

We’ll see if the state of the race changes after the conviction. As I wrote earlier, I’m highly skeptical. Still if it affects even 5% of independents that could be decisive…
  21. I think I heard this every time he was indicted last year. It’s never made any sense.
  22. I hope the defense team collected their fees in advance…
