It’s not bigotry. It’s actually a compliment. I don’t believe that most Trump supporters are racist. I don’t believe they’re stupid either. So I’m left with blindly being in a cult, or not really paying attention, which is pretty much the same difference.

And you know why it’s so many times? Because conservatives let him get away with it every time. No matter what the guy does you blindly support him anyhow. There is no political figure in American history who has gotten away with more corruption and illegal acts than Donald Trump and it’s not even close. Those of us who are not conservative look on in frustration and horror, but there’s not much we can do about it if half the nation seems to be in this cult.

Sigh. @GutterBoy is not a racist. I had a problem with his question but now I understand the context a little better. He was responding to Trump and Trump is the one who is racist. But I think it’s a fool’s errand to attempt to analyze Trump’s comments too closely. Your views on the modern day Democratic Party remain skewed and inaccurate. Rather than attack specific ideas you disagree with, you seem to prefer labels: Marxist, racist, etc. it’s lazy and wrong.

Much as I detest Trump, and hope he loses, the question is offensive. Black people are not monolithic. Some of them are conservative. Some of them agree with Trump on immigration, or nationalism, or his economic policy, or all of it. Also, not every black person votes based primarily on the question, “what have you done for black people?” You would never assume a white person votes based on “what have you done for white people?” (Well, @Cdub100 might, but most wouldn’t.)

First off my point was that the Squad is irrelevant. Fox News makes a bigger deal out of them than Democrats do. There have always been leftist Democrats and they have always been a minority. I know you want to see it some other way, but all you have to do is look at Bernie Sanders’ proposals over the last decade and see how many of them have actually been enacted. I will tell you: none. Even when the Democrats have had power, what have they accomplished? Moderate liberal centrist stuff. That’s it. No socialism, nothing even close. But you made another gross error by trying to compare our socialists like AOC or Bernie with Stalin and Mao. The leftists in our country are Social Democrats, Mensheviks. Democracy being the key. If they had lived in Russia they would have opposed Stalin and they would have been liquidated. Rather than compare them to Communist murderers it is far more apt to compare them to the murdered.

The only reason for my “sad attempt” is because some of the posts here seem so positive of an acquittal. Otherwise I wouldn’t have offered. But I doubt either of your alternatives is going to happen. He’s either going to be convicted on the felonies (I believe there are 34 of them) or a hung jury with one or two people holding out. Those are pretty much the only outcomes. I suspect a conviction.

You don’t get to use the word “ungrateful”, given your horrendous views on immigration and your support for Donald Trump. You have no recognition whatsoever of the greatness of this country and what it truly means and what your responsibilities are as an American citizen. Frankly you’re unpatriotic.

We seem to have a whole lot of folks here assuring us that this case is over, it should never have been brought, the prosecution has failed, etc. They seem to know more than the defense, the pundits, everyone. I have no idea how this trial is going to turn out, but I think a full acquittal is pretty unlikely. I’m thinking it’s going to be a conviction or a hung jury. Yet many of you seem positive it’s a full acquittal coming. So once again I will offer money on it. $500 says a conviction or a hung jury. Any takers? If you guys are so certain the prosecution has no case this should be easy money for you.

I don’t think so. I don’t think it’s a reasonable analogy. Let’s take Merchan’s daughter for instance. She’s politically involved and opposed to Trump. But she has nothing to do with the specific charges that Trump is being accused of in her father’s case. On the other hand Ginny Thomas was apparently directly involved in issues regarding January 6- therefore from my layman’s understanding of the law, Clarence Thomas should recuse himself from decisions regarding January 6, like this latest question of immunity, and Merchan shouldn’t recuse himself- no reason to- from the current court case. With Alito it’s more of a murky situation, IMO.

Once again people keep trying to tell me why I think the way I do. Except that I already wrote why I think the way I do and your explanation has nothing to do with it. Once again: my beliefs regarding this issue are based on my love for American values and what I think this country is supposed to be about. My personal situation (which by the way bears no relationship to your description) is irrelevant.
