She was referring to the fact that Republicans blocked the DARE act from being renewed, meaning that young children, in this country since they were babies, might be forcibly deported- also people who have lived here their entire lives, served in our military, attended college here, etc. What the Republican Party has done under Trump with regards to these people, and what it intends to do if Trump is re-elected, is absolutely shameful. Disgraceful. And Kamala was right to be angry about it.

I asked yesterday what could change that would cause Trump to gain momentum again. One answer is what’s happening today: the stock market is falling badly. The jobs report, and traders concerned that the expected interest rate cuts in September won’t happen or will be slower than anticipated. I have no idea if this will move the needle but it’s worrisome (beyond the fact that it’s never good when the Dow falls like this.) If I were Trump’s campaign I would make this the #1 issue and forget all the rest for now. But that’s just me.

And yes, Biden was absolutely on the phone, according to the German Chancellor, Turkish govt, etc. Biden made the difference.

She wasn’t. Ever since Dobbs she’s been speaking a lot more. As I wrote it was a few of those speeches that attracted me to her. I was never a fan before that. She was a good senator though I didn’t vote for her (I preferred Loretta Sanchez who I’ve met and feel a loyalty towards.) I wasn’t that impressed by her 2020 campaign. But now she has completely transformed herself. Unusual in American politics but not unheard of. Prior to 1980 Reagan was just an angry Goldwater type right winger- the optimism began in 1980. Truman was nothing as a VP. Churchill was a failed politician before 1940. Some folks rise to the moment. When you wrote that Kamala “generates absolutely zero organic enthusiasm” you couldn’t be more wrong. The media can’t create this.

And I also stand by my evaluation of Biden. He’s old and tired and quit because he feared he would not win, but he hasn’t lost any mental faculties. Certainly the last few days should be proof of that.

Nope I mean Reagan of 1980. Most pundits are comparing her to Obama 2008 (and a few to JFK 1960) but Reagan is the best comparison IMO. I stand by it.

Neither. What was reported was the truth: he decided to quit of his own accord because he was convinced that he couldn’t win. Not because he was mentally incapacitated but because the disastrous debate made him look old and tired and the polling reflected that. He didn’t want to quit (no one ever does) but he cares too much about this country to risk losing to Trump, it was a patriotic, selfless act. There was no coup. And Biden, more than anyone else, engineered this release. There is nothing mentally wrong with Joe Biden. He wasn’t forced out. You can mock this (I get that people will) but I truly believe this to be true. It’s not spin.

You asked this question already and I responded in another thread. If I were you I would watch the Democratic Convention coming up and you will quickly learn why she has become a rock star.

And they are extremely grateful to Biden. And Whelan and his family are extremely RESENTFUL of Trump whom they blame, justifiably, for ignoring his plight.

Whats important is that they won’t ever forget him.

At least here you tried to make some arguments. Too bad they’re completely false: 1. No voting process was subverted. Biden bowed out. The Democrats then followed the rules. In any event if you’re not a Democrat these rules have nothing to do with you. The Democratic Party is not part of the government or beholden to anyone except the Democratic Party. 2. FWIW I am opposed to expanding the Supreme Court; so is Joe Biden, so are many Democrats. But doing so, while a bad idea, is not a threat to democracy. The number of Supreme Court members has changed many times in our history. When I argue that Trump is a threat to our democracy I am arguing that he will attempt to subvert it through extralegal and corrupt means, like his attempt to stay in power after the 2020 election. Not to changes in the law proposed and passed by Congress.

She’s popular for a lot of reasons. But one of the MANY reasons she will win is because people are tired of hateful, ignorant, bigoted and sexist rhetoric like yours.

Trump is so pissed off about this prisoner exchange. I think he would rather these guys hadn’t been released.
