Such bullsh!t. Once he knew he was safe, he raised his fist. Big effing deal. I’m glad he’s Ok. But the guy has lived a life of being a huge pu$$y and he still is one. His speech the other night was one big whine fest. Real men take responsibility for their actions. Trump is a life long coward who has always passed the buck and always will.

I would like to see politics as it's own subforum

He never told me that and we had long discussions about it. He asked me to try to hold my temper when people insulted me because when I retaliated that made it worse. And I actually cut down on my posts during the last couple years of the Political forum because I was busy with stuff. But I asked him directly in PMs if he thought I was contributing to the problems there and he said no. Most of what caused the shutdown was the incessant reporting. I rarely did that. The other problem were the MAGA people who deliberately trolled and insulted everyone and sought to shut things down. They’re the ones truly at fault IMO. -

Sheila Jackson Lee is Dead
The Real timschochet replied to Engorgeous George's topic in The Geek Club
Very sorry to hear anyone suffer from this. My cousin died of it and it was awful. That being said, I was never a fan. This woman was not very bright IMO. I wouldn’t care except that many times she said things that were so embarrassingly stupid that she hurt some of the causes that I believe in. She also made it a point to be noticed. James Clyburn was on the news this morning laughing about how Lee would position herself at roll calls so that the TV camera always found her. I don’t regard that as especially admirable. But I’m sorry for her family and loved ones. -
Trump talk only- no Eagles talk allowed (Steelers talk is OK though)

I also think that Biden may be hanging on here based on a premise which is still viable, which is: despite the polling, despite the doubts about his age and deficiencies, despite the donors, the public has yet to be absolutely confronted with a binary choice between Joe Biden and Donald Trump. And that once they are, once it becomes absolutely clear to everyone finally that these are the two options, there is no alternative, then Biden will win because the public just doesn’t want a return of Donald Trump. This is a tremendous gamble and if it doesn’t work it will not only give us a President Trump, it will destroy Biden’s legacy and he will be remembered not for his accomplishments but for giving this election away (and for those of us who believe that Trump represents an existential threat to this country, for risking democracy for the sake of personal ambition.) And yet…he might be right. I would rather go with Kamala but he might be right. -

After listening to AOC this morning I sense the debate is shifting. A few days ago AOC and others were saying “we stand by President Biden and how dare you try to move away from him!” Now it’s become “If Biden quits then Kamala has to be the nominee and how dare you try to suggest anyone else!” I agree that (1) Biden should quit and (2) if he does any choice other than Kamala would create a war within the party that would make Trump’s victory more likely, not less. But I’m honestly not sure Kamala’s succession can be forced. If somebody else throws their hat in the ring there WILL be a contest, no way to stop that. -
Thanks for all the recommendations!

The Green New Deal is not supported by the main wing of the Democratic Party. Even us low IQ fockin retards know that. Guess you’re dumber than me.

Perhaps not losing to Trump is what is best for the country? I certainly think so. -
Not that particular. Italian is always good. A good steak. Never been a huge Philly cheesesteak fan but maybe the original is good?

Appreciate your concern about my family. Speaking of which my nephew got into Drexel so I’m going to Philadelphia this fall for the first time ever. Any food recommendations?

More love needs to be given to Trump wanting to spend a trillion dollars or so on an “Iron Dome” rocket defense system for the U.S. After all you never know when Montreal is going to get pissed off at us and fire a few shells this way.

I did feel a little sorry for all the old white folks last night that were forced to endure Kid Rock: Man was he bad. -
So true. Actually Taylor’s music, particularly since folklore, is more introspective than anything else, very reminiscent of Joni Mitchell for me. But I like what I like. My musical journey has been pretty linear, actually.

Just saw her in Amsterdam (on July 4) and I have to say it was the most amazing concert I’ve ever attended. The energy of the crowd, and her command of the stage, was simply unbelievable. As a young teenager I saw Queen in 1980 and Freddie Mercury was the only guy who comes close to her (though I’m too young for the Beatles).

The problem with @Strike’s argument is that it assumes that because Biden determined to have a black female Vice President, that in itself makes Kamala Harris unqualified. “DEI hire” is used as a slur or put down. But the actual facts contradict this. It’s not like Biden, after deciding to appoint a black woman, chose somebody off the street with race and sex as the only consideration. To the contrary: once Biden determined to appoint a black woman, he then looked at a list of black women who are qualified to be vice-President. He chose Kamala Harris from that list. And this is what conservatives so often ignore about DEI or affirmative action: it’s not a qualifier in itself, but only the first specification. You still have to be very good at what you do or you’re never getting that job or appointment. -

Assuming she is the candidate I really hope this is campaign Trump runs against her. -

Well if Biden truly refuses to quit this is exactly what the Republicans want. It’s a mess. We’ll have to see what the weekend brings. -

I didn’t miss your point. I thought it was, typically of you, lazy and not too thoughtful. In both 2008 and 2016, Bill Clinton chose the folks in charge of his wife’s campaign staff- not her. Then he bided his time and tried to stay out of it, then he tried to interfere with disastrous results- like the time in 2008 when he tried to compare Obama to Jesse Jackson- which most black voters at the time correctly perceived as racism. Bill was a great campaigner back in the day but unable to cope with changing times and the populism of Obama, Bernie Sanders, and most of all Donald Trump. His advice was often poor. That doesn’t excuse Hillary. She had the hubris to think she didn’t need to campaign in Wisconsin and tried to win in Georgia when she had no chance to do so. She was dumb about it. But again this has nothing to do with what kind of President she would have been. Much more than her husband, Hillary was a political centrist. She is no liberal and would have fostered a pro-business, pro-trade approach. She would have been as effective as Biden in foreign affairs but much more effective domestically. And of course the Trump Covid disaster would never have occurred. She would have been a tremendous President and ending her 2nd term now, leading this country to a prosperous future. Too bad. -

This goes for anyone else who wants to be paid in advance of the official announcement. I’m happy to do it. I had a list of all the people I wagered against but I can’t seem to find it so you’ll have to remind me. -

Always cracks me up when Trump fans complain about Democrats and their “corporate masters.” Not that I truly mind; the one saving grace for this country should Trump win is that a lot of the populism is just for show and that he’ll never go through with most of the crap he’s promising. But it’s really amusing to see guys like you suck it up every time.
