I certainly hope the electorate is as “wrong” as I am. Sadly all too many of them share your views on the MSM and this poisons their ability to think clearly on these issues.

We just seem to live on two different planets. The NY trial wasn’t bogus; none of the indictments are. Joe Biden has had nothing to do with the Trump’s legal troubles; he has these troubles because he is a corrupt person who has broken the law many times. But ever if you were right about Biden, which you’re not, aren’t you just moving the goalposts? You claimed you’ve never heard examples of Trump’s threat to our democracy. I gave you several and now your argument is that Biden does it too? Why not just admit you were wrong in the first place?

Yeah we certainly don’t see eye to eye on this. I regard Biden’s trade policies as easily the worst aspect of his Presidency. Free trade is the key to American prosperity. The last time we were this hostile to it in both parties it led to the Great Depression. This time it may be worse.

We actually have one of those now. If these are truly the things you care about why would you ever choose Donald Trump?

And you have been manipulated as well. It seems impossible that you have never seen Trump say what he wants to do. I simply don’t get it. Since you asked here are some direct quotes by Donald Trump regarding his desire to jail his enemies: “Democrats need to start being indicted!” ”Alvin Bragg must be put in prison!” “Letitia James and Arthur Engoron must be placed under citizens arrest!” “Jack Smith must be locked up and throw away the key!” All of those are Truth Social quotes. They’ve been all over the news. Yet somehow you’ve never seen any of them, right? How is that possible? And how the fock can you or anyone else claim that this guy isn’t a threat to our democracy. Again he wants to IMPRISON all of his enemies!!! I can easily produce direct quotes for all the other stuff I mentioned- his desire to have the military and police be loyal to him with unlimited power, his plans to curtail the freedom of the press and judges, his desire to abrogate election results he doesn’t like. It’s all on Truth Social and in his speeches. But the real question is how are you unaware of it?

This was a book by journalists, not by opinion makers (like Bill O’ Reilly.) I rarely read books by opinion makers and if I do I expect them to be biased. I don’t expect books from the MSM to be biased because the MSM is not biased, no matter how much you and others insist that it is. Sadly it is YOU who have been manipulated. That book is filled with well documented well sourced reporting and you’re rejecting it out of hand, which Donald Trump wants you to do.

You know I started to do this but I realized that all you’ll do is question the sources, call them liars, try to parse the statements to mean something they don’t, etc. It’s a waste of time. If you’re truly interested this stuff is easily accessible all over the internet.

If you had bothered to read the book you would know that it completely relies on interviews with people who worked in the Trump White House.

Not sure what evidence I can provide beyond the book I named and his public statements. You dismiss them anyhow because you wish to remain ignorant on this subject.

First off let me refute your third sentence. During the 4 years that Donald Trump was President he was absolutely a threat to democracy, but was consistently prevented from achieving his aims by the guardrails in place, men like John Kelly, James Mattis, Mark Milley, and others. None of these people will be there this time around. It would take me too long to describe all the ways these men saved this nation from Donald Trump and what it would have been like if they hadn’t been around, but if you want details please read the book The Divider which describes everything in full. To answer your question more specifically : Donald Trump wants to emulate his hero Viktor Orban, who took over a democratic republic and has converted it to an autocracy. Orban has accomplished this feat by jailing his opponents, heavily restricting the freedom of the press, increasing the power of police and military and demanding that these forces serve him rather than the nation, controlling the judicial system, and severely limiting voting and elections. Donald Trump has publicly spoken out in favor of all of these moves and seeks to do them all himself. Whether or not he succeeds if elected again is an open question but we know now that he will not be prosecuted for making the effort. Is that specific enough for you?

Maybe. I’ve had a gun at my head and I didn’t react well. But I don’t hold myself out to be a hero. This worship of a coward like Trump is really nauseating.

Such bullsh!t. Once he knew he was safe, he raised his fist. Big effing deal. I’m glad he’s Ok. But the guy has lived a life of being a huge pu$$y and he still is one. His speech the other night was one big whine fest. Real men take responsibility for their actions. Trump is a life long coward who has always passed the buck and always will.

He never told me that and we had long discussions about it. He asked me to try to hold my temper when people insulted me because when I retaliated that made it worse. And I actually cut down on my posts during the last couple years of the Political forum because I was busy with stuff. But I asked him directly in PMs if he thought I was contributing to the problems there and he said no. Most of what caused the shutdown was the incessant reporting. I rarely did that. The other problem were the MAGA people who deliberately trolled and insulted everyone and sought to shut things down. They’re the ones truly at fault IMO.

Very sorry to hear anyone suffer from this. My cousin died of it and it was awful. That being said, I was never a fan. This woman was not very bright IMO. I wouldn’t care except that many times she said things that were so embarrassingly stupid that she hurt some of the causes that I believe in. She also made it a point to be noticed. James Clyburn was on the news this morning laughing about how Lee would position herself at roll calls so that the TV camera always found her. I don’t regard that as especially admirable. But I’m sorry for her family and loved ones.
