Because it’s a very deceptive and dishonest video, like everything @Maximum Overkill posts. It’s a mash up of leftist politicians saying they want to defund with members of the actual leadership (Pelosi, Harris) calling for the reallocation of certain duties of police, which is actually quite reasonable. But of course it’s all merged together to give one the impression that Democrats are united in getting rid of police. And even the leftist position, which most Democrats and none among the leadership agree with, is still misstated and misunderstood. So that’s why liberals aren’t spending a lot of time in here. Threads like this are basically a circle jerk for conservatives to tell each other how great they are and how evil the other side is. Have at it.

The problem is, there’s no way to finish the job without a full occupation. And they don’t want to occupy. Let’s pretend for the moment that Hamas are the Nazis (it’s a pretty apt comparison, right?) Now suppose in 1945 we bombed the crap out of Germany but refused to invade and occupy them. All that would happen is the Nazis would hide and come back. You can’t destroy them unless you occupy. Israel has weakened them. But they can’t destroy Hamas unless they either occupy Gaza or simply kill everything that moves there. Neither option is acceptable to them. Incidentally this is the same problem we faced in Vietnam and Afghanistan.

I want to respond to this point because you’ve made it several times on a variety of issues. Let’s be clear: the number of people who agree with you about any given topic neither adds nor takes away from your correctness on that topic. For myself, I tend to become distrustful of my views if I find that a majority agree with them.

And of course this is untrue. To cite only 2 of many examples, the Civil War and World War II were both highly noble efforts are not lies at all, whatever that means. In both cases we did much for human freedom.

Because if Ukraine loses it will cost us more in both blood and treasure.

I don’t declare him guilty. I think he is, in most cases. But if juries find him not guilty then of course I’ll accept the result. But we have to have jury trials first and Trump is doing everything he can to avoid that. Which should tell you something. By stating “all of these trials are politically motivated” you’re expressing a bias far stronger than mine.

I know you are. To your credit you have been very consistent on this issue. Wrong but consistent.

MAGA types can contradict my assumptions anytime they want: all they have to do is criticize Trump. Any criticism at all will do. You claim not to be a MAGA guy. Yet in this forum you find a way to defend him from all criticism. What is one to assume?

It’s amazing isn’t it? I’d love to agree with you that he’s insane but there are literally millions with the same insanity. It’s like some weird disease has taken over this country. The Trump disease. They are so terrified of brown and black people taking over that they’re willing to believe anything, accept anything, allow for a dictatorship in the vane hope of stopping that from happening. We are living in scary times. Good people with good intentions are allowing evil into their midsts.

Also FWIW Trump’s connection to Russia (in 2016, and even now) has not and never been a hoax.

No politician in modern times is worse than Trump. He is uniquely awful. No politician on either side has ever called for violence like this. You are defending a fascist. You claim to hate authoritarianism but you constantly defend the one guy who wants to bring it to the U.S. talk about duped.
