How could I be unaware of that 538 link? You’ve only brought it up a zillion times. You remind me of my grandpa. Or Joe Biden. Telling the same story over and over again. Everybody’s heard it by now several times but we nod and humor you. You know what I’m right about? That Trump was a terrible President and will be even worse this time around. That whether he wins or not it’s a disgrace for anyone to vote for him and that you’ll always have to live with that disgrace, while I won’t. I’ll always be right about that.

Sorry to disappoint you but that won’t happen. If Trump wins I will congratulate his supporters and wish him well, because I wish my country well. Trump will be my President just as he was last time around- I truly detest the “not my President” stuff. I will oppose him when I think he deserves it but hope for the best. I do believe that Trump is a threat to our democracy; that part is true. But I also think our democracy is strong enough to survive that threat. I am ever the optimist and I always believe good times are ahead.

Of course I have doubts. It will be a close election. But if Kamala is the candidate I predict she will win.

I think you’re making stuff up. I wanted Biden to win, predicted he would many times. But I don’t think I ever wrote anything like “done deal”. Always assumed it would be close. But in the end I believe in the basic goodness of the American people. That part is true.

The problem with your assumption is that, per consistent polling, the public largely agrees with Harris’ policy positions far more than they do with Trump on the vast majority of issues.

You may not have been paying attention lately. She has been giving the best speeches of her career. Firing on all cylinders.

There was no lawfare, there is no next move except hopefully our legal system keeps trying to hold Trump accountable for the crimes he has committed.

Dont know why you would think this. I’ve tried to offer serious analysis. And no I’m not desperate at all because I’m pretty confident that within a few days Kamala will be the candidate and if and when that happens she will be the favorite to win.

Not sure why they would be surprised. If one examines the history of attempted or successful assassinations of Presidents in this country, one finds the motive more often than not has nothing to do with politics (or at least not mainstream politics.)

I respectfully disagree with you . I think it’s true that Biden needs to quit and is at a major disadvantage if he stays in. But in the event (unlikely now IMO) that he stays in I still think he would have a fighting chance due to this speech by Trump. Say a 35% chance (versus a 10% chance before the speech.)

Strongly disagree. I expected a very good speech (see my post in the other thread) that would help Trump sew things up. This was terrible. I suspect it reminded millions of Americans why this guy is completely unfit to be President. If Biden quits this will give Kamala an advantage. Even if Biden somehow doesn’t quit this speech gives Joe a fighting chance. It did a LOT of harm.

You’re going to have to. Like forever. Even in the unlikely event, after this horrific speech, that Trump wins, it still won’t happen. It’s total bullsh!t.

Biden’s debate was a total disaster for him. But Trump’s acceptance speech might have been worse.

He talked about sharks. He rambled about Hannibal Lector. He’s going to deport millions of people. He loves Viktor Orban. He’s going to slap a 100% tariff on foreign cars. He likes Kim Jong Un. And those were the coherent parts.

And easily the worst.
