    War in Israel

Apparently you guys have learned nothing from our disastrous wars in Vietnam, Iraq and Afghanistan, and Israel has learned nothing from its previous occupations. It’s so frustrating and tragic to see history repeat itself over and over.

    War in Israel

    No.

    War in Israel

You’re correct that the majority of Israelis feel that way. But many don’t, and that is what I wrote. It is anything but a simple situation. Israel is not eradicating Hamas and they appear to have no plan as to when this war ends and how it ends. This war is making Israel less safe not more.

    War in Israel

That isn’t true. I have very close ties to Israel including family members. This whole situation is very important to me.

I rather doubt that the NY Post makes anyone less clueless about anything.

    War in Israel

Look this is not a good situation. I don’t believe Israel is conducting this war consistent with American values. Seems like many of the Israelis feel this way as well. The problem is Netanyahu. I think Biden needs to cut off aid.

    War in Israel

What action would Trump have taken? Please elaborate.

    Christian Nationalism

In any case there are plenty of Christians who are very welcoming of transgenders. The celebration of transgenderism is certainly hostile to intolerant Christianity but not to Christianity.

You understand that’s a boilerplate proclamation right? Presidents sign literally hundreds of them every year (actually they don’t personally sign, there’s a stamp of their signature.) Like I wrote, conservatives blew it up.

    Women sports and Criticism

The OP seems to know as much about women as he does about Jews. The responses aren’t much of an improvement. Sports media is no different from regular media. They focus on whatever sells. Caitlin Clark, (who BTW is a very religious Christian and if I had to guess, pretty conservative though I have no real idea) sells. That’s why she gets so many corporate sponsorships. Nothing to do with Woke, nothing to do with shoving women’s sports down our throats. She gets eyeballs because she may be the best ever and she seems to have great charisma. That’s why the sports media is paying attention.

My impression of Biden is that he’s not very woke, especially when it comes to trans. I strongly doubt he’s ever met one and would probably be pretty much grossed out if he did. He’s pro-gay, now, but that took years too.

Umm his office issued a statement with his name on it. I doubt he read it. Conservatives blew it up.
  13. I want to get excited but it’s too early. Lots of things could happen between now and the election. That said my working theory has always been that once the American public was presented with the binary choice of Biden vs Trump and fully perceived that there was no getting around this contest, Biden would win decisively.
  14. I’m not calling them liars. But they are self serving and in these situations they always blame outside conditions. Do you really think Mod Pizza is ever going to say “we screwed up and opened too many locations in the inland empire and a few locations that weren’t visible enough.”? Incidentally, Mod Pizza is one of those places where the customer makes his own pizza. Theres about 4 of these, all very similar, competing with each other. They’ve overdone the market IMO. We have so much pizza in California it’s coming out of our ears. You can get sushi pizza now. Yesterday I saw a new place offering Chicken Tandoori Pizza. Not kidding. Only ice cream is more available,
  15. And Trump is banking on you not looking at the bigger picture.
  16. Between commercial sales of office buildings tanking and minimum wage hikes? No I don’t.
  17. You can’t offer anecdotes of restaurants closing down and blame it on this law and then claim that it’s too soon to know how the law will affect people. Thats a contradiction. If I accept your premise that it’s too soon to see the effects (and it’s a reasonable point) then we should also disregard your anecdotes, right?
  18. I think it’s its fantasyland to believe he’s done a terrible job. Inflation has risen all across the world but our increases are lower than most other countries. We have rebounded better. Most of that is due to our outstanding economy but some is due to Biden’s policies.
  19. My post was about retail leasing. Not commercial sales. Obviously Covid has destroyed office building leasing and sales and that is very problematic both in California and elsewhere. I don’t think it’s coming back. Industrial property has also taken a huge hit. But none of this has anything to do with the topic at hand.
  20. I do agree with the general premise of this thread: minimum wage increases are a tax on the consumer that hurts many small businesses. As an economic principle that is absolutely true. It just doesn’t apply to California in the way you guys are assuming because other factors are at play. But my question for those of you who, correctly, are concerned about government taxation and regulations- how could you possibly ever vote for Donald Trump??? For all Joe Biden and the Democrats have done with regard to these issues, Trump will be far worse by any objective measure. Let’s start with the 10% tariff on all imported goods he is proposing. Dont you guys realize what a huge tax that will be, how damaging it will be to the economy? I just don’t understand how people who claim to like capitalist solutions can support this guy.
  21. Im telling you that price is only one reason that undocumented immigrants are hired. Another reason, just as important, is that the businesses are owned by people from the same country who desire to help family and friends. As far as this being a problem no not really. First we don’t have an employment problem in this country. In fact we need more labor. Eventually that might change due to robotics but when it does the marketplace will provide the solutions. Most importantly the use of undocumented labor in a variety of industries is key to controlling inflation. Simply put if we ever actually do what Trump and Republicans are proposing (mass round up and deportation, strict enforcement of hiring laws) our prices will skyrocket.
  22. @RLLD the thing is we’re not seeing a lot of restaurants closing their doors. It’s the exact opposite: in the busy areas (LA, Orange County, San Francisco, San Diego) it remains very hard to find good retail space. When something closes down it gets immediately replaced because the demand is great. Now in other parts of California: the Inland Empire, Riverside, Bakersfield, Fresno, etc-this is not the case. There is lots of vacancy because developers overbuilt. But that’s a 30 year old problem and has little to do with new regulations.
  23. You’re showing some ignorance here. I don’t break the law but if I did, the IRS is not the agency that would be investigating my employment practices. HTH.
  24. It’s possible. The numbers have exploded- not, I believe, due to anything Biden did or didn’t do, but because of the economic dislocation caused by Covid. So I will concede that it’s possible at least in the short term. Long term I don’t think so and the studies back me up. But let’s also discuss my second contention: Trump’s main argument against illegal immigration is not the economic consequences but that, according to him, they are bad people who commit violent crime. They “are poisoning the blood of America”- I think that’s a direct quote. I offered an article from this year about illegal immigration and crime and it presents facts and statistics that completely refute Trump’s position.
