I don’t know: it’s never happened in this country. Guess we’ll find out if Trump wins. -

So ironic the nickname for her used here when the guy that defeated her wants to impose a dictatorship in this country, In a sane world we’d be living right now in the 8th year of Hillary’s presidency and all of lives would be better by any measure possible. -
Hope Hicks expected to testify in hush money trial: https://www.nbcnews.com/news/amp/rcna145895 Based on reporting, the main defense Trump’s team will offer is that the money was paid to Stormy Daniels not for political reasons but to hide the affair from Melania (Trump continues to deny the affair so there’s a contradiction there as well.) Hicks supposedly would refute this.

Another fast food place closes in CA same day as minimum wage goes to $20
The Real timschochet replied to edjr's topic in The Geek Club
Fast food is expanding in California. So is all retail: Here in Southern Cal the demand for retail space is incredible. I’m not a fan of raising the minimum wage but it’s not hurting us at all. -

His promise to federalize the police of this country and immunize them from bad behavior is…well, there’s no other word for it…fascist. -
Texas will be a purple state by 2028 and Blue by 2032
The Real timschochet replied to Cdub100's topic in The Geek Club
The turnover came in 1994 following Prop 187 and Pete Wilson’s disastrous anti-immigrant campaign (mild by Trumpian standards). Thats why we’ve been a blue state ever since. Remove the immigration issue and Cali will be purple in 10 years. -

No thank you. @Engorgeous George and several others disagree strongly with my take on this matter and I’m not going to reopen it because it would just create more argument. So far as I am concerned the issue is closed. -

The Latino population of Texas is growing exponentially. But- these folks are generally conservative- both economically and socially. Leftism repels them. Right now about 55-60% of them are Democrats but that’s only because they perceive the current anti-immigrant rhetoric of the Republican Party as anti-Latino. Remove that issue, return to the days of Ronald Reagan who was welcoming of immigrants from Latin America, and Latinos will jump to the Republicans 70-30. In fact it will probably give the Republicans a permanent majority since African-Americans tend to be socially conservative as well. I’m a woke guy but woke is not popular among working class Latinos and blacks. The conservative movement is shooting itself in the foot here when it could easily be winning. IMO. -

I do not agree with the accuracy of events as some have described above regarding the wager. But I’m not going to explain it again because the matter has been settled and @Engorgeous George has behaved like a gentleman so I will as well. I recommend anyone who wishes for an accurate accounting of what took place to go back and read through the thread, last 3-4 pages. It doesn’t take that long. -

Mentally Ill people should not be allowed to vote or own a gun.
The Real timschochet replied to Cdub100's topic in The Geek Club
Do I really need to? OK. I believe that Donald Trump is mentally ill. I think he is incompetent for the Presidency and proved it last time with his terrible performance. I don’t think Joe Biden is perfect but at least he’s competent and stable. -

I don’t think it’s a wise practice to send a cashiers check in the mail to somebody I don’t know. But it’s settled anyhow. -

@Engorgeous George I just tried to send you a message but you’re no longer receiving them, so this will have to be public. I lost my temper there, and I have throughout this entire discussion. I apologize to you. I don’t agree with how you won this wager and I never will, but you did win and I agreed to pay you. I should not have given you an ultimatum, you’re right about that, and I apologize for that as well. I am asking you nicely to accept a form of payment other than a check because a check would involve other people in my office and I don’t wish to do that. It is a request, not an ultimatum or demand. But I will find a way to pay you one way or another. Can you please come up with some alternative to a check? I don’t think that’s an unreasonable request but it is a request. I’ve been overly rude to you because you pissed me off. Thats not the person I want to be so I apologize for that as well. I don’t know you at all but I don’t want to feud with you or anyone here. Let me know how you want to handle this. Thank you. -

OMG such bs. I agreed to pay you by check then I changed my mind. Too focking bad. You don’t get to dictate how you’re going to be paid. Now you’re not going to get paid at all. You had 3 days to set up a Venmo account. If you had I would have immediately sent you $2,000.00. Now you get nothing. And go ahead and insult me all you want. You always have. You’re rude and you’re stupid for a lawyer (I’ve met some dumb ones though.) I’ll repeat what I wrote earlier: you have no integrity. -

Well I’m voting Democrat up and down the ticket this year and I don’t regard myself as a leftist. I simply oppose current Republican views on a variety of issues, and I find their current Presidential candidate and their stances on immigration, NATO, trade, to be unacceptable. -
$677,000,000,000 Added To US National Debt in Three Months As BlackRock CEO Warns Situation ‘More Urgent Than I Can Ever Remember
The Real timschochet replied to edjr's topic in The Geek Club
This might work if Republicans had chosen a sane candidate to oppose Joe Biden. Since they didn’t I’m afraid you may have to wait until 2028 to see if this argument has merit. -

@RLLD I don’t think you’re stupid, but I do disagree that this is the worst economy in recent years and it’s a pretty ridiculous assertion. Putting aside the Covid crisis (because I will grant you your point that that was not a question of policy at least starting out) it was worse in 2008-10 following the bailout, by any measure other than inflation. Unemployment for example was far worse- it hovered at about 10% or higher for 3 years. Many more homes were underwater. If we’re going just by inflation then we need only go back to 1979-1981. Interest rates were a whopping 15%. Gas stations had lines around the block which I well remember. So I think your assertion is a little off. -

The only reason I “spiked the ball early” (by posting about it, not in actuality) was because he was being such an a$$hole about it, wanting me to send him a check with the words “I am a dumbass” on it, etc. And yes he wants me to pay him because he pm’ed me a mailing address. But it’s not gonna happen. -

There is way too much name calling in this forum on all sides. I don’t recall if you’re partaken in it yourself. But most people here don’t. ETA- actually, writing that “there’s no such thing as serious discussions with liberals” is itself a form of name-calling. -

Update: I posted this yesterday morning. Before that I posted numerous times that @Engorgeous George needed to provide me a Venmo or PayPal address and that I was not going to send him a check. He responded directly to this post with “there you go” so it’s not a question of him not seeing it. But he has never given me anything other than a mailing address. So be it. I consider myself absolved of this wager. It’s over. I tried to pay the man despite his weasley bullsh!t, he wouldn’t provide the means. And now we’re done.
