  1. You don’t think an interview with a mental health expert would have offered enough red flags to prevent a purchase?
  2. You’re trying too hard again.
  3. That’s not up to me. The medical authorities who I trust do not do so.

Are the transgender threads in this forum getting out of hand?

Im glad you feel this way. But why then did you post Andy Ngo yesterday? He is an extreme anti-trans bigot, and uses words like “Transtifa” as he did in the quote you posted. You wrote that he sees it “straight”. You can’t agree with Ngo and call youself trans friendly, sorry.
  5. Good morning. What can we do as a society to make what happened yesterday less likely? Here is what I think: 1. All gun restrictions need to be federal. As @TheNewGirl pointed out yesterday, it’s useless for a state or city to have them. Doesn’t work. 2. We need universal background checks. No exceptions for private sales. 3. If this doesn’t work then I would take it further. Anyone who wants to legally own a gun should have to take some sort of mental wellness test. It would include an interview with a therapist trained to detect serious mental illness. The proposed purchaser would pay for the price of this interview.
  6. He mentioned anti-Christian. Was there specific anti-Catholic rhetoric? (I don’t know.)
  7. The good news is that, unlike this forum, the national discussion after this horrific event is about gun restriction, not trannies. Amy Klobuchar is leading the way. It’s true that all previous attempts at change have led to nothing because of Republican opposition. But it’s never too late.

You’re center right like The Cars were a disco band.

Exactly right. Transgender youth face the threat of serious violence against them on a daily basis.

It’s one dude. This is the dude. I don’t think it would be an exaggeration to suggest that he spends about 80% of his posts in this forum on this one subject. He resurrected about a half dozen threads today alone following the Minnesota shooting.
  11. I am not aware of any law that says that undocumented immigrants must be deported. You’re welcome to show me that law.
  12. No. They really don’t. https://vsac.ca/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/FORGE-Rates-of-Violence.pdf Again I urge you guys to pay attention to the facts and not allow individual incidents, combined with ignorance, fear and bigotry, to shape your thinking. The reason that trans kids need protection is that up to 50% of them have been on the receiving end of violence. They are extremely unlikely to be violent. Today’s terrible event hasn’t changed that.
  13. Your second sentence expresses exactly what I think of your first.
  14. Good for her. Don’t you believe trans kids need to be protected?
  15. No. You want to deport every undocumented immigrant. That would be the equivalent of me wanting to seize every gun in America.
  16. I don’t blame guns or gun owners. If some more federal gun restrictions would make things better Im for that. I tend to think they will but I’m not sure. But that doesn’t make it the fault of gun owners. It’s the fault of the dude who did this .
  17. I see I’ve been mentioned twice now by people who apparently think my views are responsible for what happened today. That’s sad, but I don’t feel responsible in the slightest. I do not believe in blaming groups of people of the actions of a few. Most transgenders are non-violent (and themselves targets of violence.) Most undocumented immigrants are non-violent. Most American Muslims are non-violent. Each time several of you blame a whole group for an individual action, and propose a punishment or a restriction the whole group, I will argue against that so long as I am around and able. And even if it wasn’t the case than the majority of any of these groups was non-violent I would still argue against blaming the whole group. Because I am not a collectivist.
  18. I’m starting to hear some people speculate that Trump has congenital heart failure. So far the media hasn’t really touched on this much. Here is James Carville:
  19. All of this is wrong. Gotta go to work now.
  20. I disagree. Prop 36 was a bad idea that IMO increases crime.
  21. I agree. I don’t classify trans as mentally ill however. How can we enforce keeping mentally ill people from owning guns?
  22. If you want to argue with me about points I make fine. But if you’re just going to question my integrity you’re wasting your time. There are people here who believe that trans is a severe mental illness. I do not. But I DO believe that those with severe mental illness should be prevented from owning firearms, 2nd Amendment or no. If it could be proved to me that trans is a severe mental illness then I would be in favor of prohibiting them from owning firearms.
  23. It convinces me that any such laws would have to be federal. What’s the point of strict laws in California if you can go into Nevada and purchase whatever you want without restriction? And of course the problem with your question: why have laws at all? We don’t have laws in order to convince bad guys and crazies not to do things; we have laws to make it more difficult for them to do things.
  24. I don’t ever virtue signal. If I want to have something done it’s because I think it will help.
  25. If you can show me statistical evidence that transgender people are more violent than the general population, by percentage, then I would be open to such restrictions. Until then I’m not. Banning guns is not at the top of my list.
