The supply chain crisis during the worst of Covid has already been exceeded. We just haven’t seen this yet on the retail shelves yet. But we will likely within days all over the country.

The Port of Long Beach, very close to my house is the largest port for containers in the USA. We are looking at a 40% reduction. Catastrophe.

You also know very well that Trump’s new tariffs on Canada had NOTHING to do with Canada’s remaining tariffs on us, which makes @Hardcore troubadour’s argument nonsensical. Yet you hammer on this point because it’s more important to you to try and “prove” that I’m a liar than to have a real discussion about the topic. I wrote “no tariffs” because they’re small enough to be almost insignificant. In any case we did not put tariffs on Canada as a retaliation for their tariffs on us. We put them on because of some ridiculous argument about fentanyl, and because of Trump complaining about trade deficits (because he doesn’t understand economics.) Your entire premise is false.

No. They didn’t. Are you aware of the U.S. Mexico Canada Trade Agreement (negotiated by Trump)? And before that NAFTA?

The Supreme Court has already disagreed with you on this.

Feel free to push for this if you wish and see how far you get with it. In the meantime we need to abide by the Constitution as written and interpreted by the Supreme Court.

And also if this is the case then why have we imposed tariffs on several countries who didn’t have tariffs on us? (For example Canada.)

There remains quite a bit of debate on this. But once again I want to point out that almost all of the arguments made by Trump supporters in this thread are about the rest of us supposedly exaggerating the amount of tariffs, which implies agreement on the core issue that the greater amount of tariffs the worse things are. Are we at least united on this principle?

Question for you: if exemptions from tariffs are “winning” (I agree with you on this) can we also agree that the tariffs themselves are “losing”?

We’re not going to get real close. Come one you and I can disagree on what SHOULD be done but we can agree on what WILL be done. You know they’re not going to get rid of 3 million people right? Most of them work and it would gut the economy to send them away. You get this right? It’s never going to happen.

Trump complained today that due process would require 3 million trials. But it doesn’t. First off we’re not deporting 3 million people, ever. I don’t care what he says. Second, due process doesn’t mean a trial, it means a hearing to make sure you’re who the government says you are, that you’re not a citizen, a felon, etc, Some of these hearings might take no more than 5 minutes before a judge.

It’s only political because of conservatives. 100% the sole reason.

I am in favor of well-regulated, generally open immigration to the United States.

I’m not in favor of an open border in the U.S. And Israel is a tiny country with almost no available land. If that were the case here my views would be quite different, but it isn’t.
