I do not believe these actions will destroy Hamas’ ideology. I am convinced it will only make them stronger.

Create a State of Palestine is the first step. Remove all remaining Jewish settlements from Gaza, the West Bank, and East Jerusalem. Declare the old city of Jerusalem an international city and move our embassy back to Tel Aviv. Give billions of dollars of aid to the new state of Palestine. How’s that? ETA this was all proposed years ago on The West Wing.

No idea, polling is very difficult there and probably inaccurate. My educated guess however is that even more of them support Hamas now than they did previously. Human nature is generally defiant: suffering causes people to become more extreme not less. Extremism thrives in misery; it doesn’t do so well in prosperity. The only way to truly get rid of Hamas, IMO, is to create a situation for Palestinians where they can live in safety and some kind of opportunity for advancement and prosperity. Israel is accomplishing the exact opposite. In the end, even if they manage to kill all of Hamas’ current leaders, they will be replaced by some new group even more radical and extreme.

The economy continues to get better, and now most economists predict good times ahead. What then will Republicans run on? Judging from this website, there appears to be 4issues that have come to dominate conservative thinking in no particular order: 1. Fear and loathing of undocumented immigrants. 2. Fear and loathing of transsexual people. 3. Isolationism and an end our post World War II obligations. 4. Retribution for the enemies of Donald Trump. I don’t believe the majority of Americans are going to go along with the conservative obsession and views on these 4 issues. At least I hope not. Guess we will see.

I don’t want innocent children to suffer. Hamas is evil and needs to be destroyed but I am not going to tell them, or anyone else “do this or innocent children will die.” At that point I’m out, sorry.

You and I have a very different perception of public health. I think it should be about protecting people and giving them advice on how to keep their loved ones safe. You seem to think they should figure it all out themselves. I don’t subscribe to that.

I think that if you had told me that dropping bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki would not win the war, would only end up making Japan more powerful, and would achieve nothing except making the USA less safe I would have told you that it’s both an immoral decision and a dumb one. We dropped thousands of bombs on Hanoi and killed plenty of civilians. For what? To what good end? Sometimes we can learn from history. War doesn’t justify bad acts; we decided that at Nuremberg, remember?

I can’t justify this suffering of children. Beyond the words I used above it’s also stupid. Israel isn’t making themselves safer. They’re just creating more hatred that will last for generations to come. And since we’re their biggest ally at least some of that hatred will be coming our way as well.

Once again: I can understand the concern about dysfunction at the border. I can understand the concern about the large numbers coming right now and their drain on the resources of certain states: I get all that. But this anti-undocumented people hysteria, this attitude of unwelcoming and no sympathy, this attempt to tie them all to violent crimes- it’s so ugly and so unworthy of Americans. We seem to have completely forgotten who we are.

And here as well. And this is the country they want to come to. Why not welcome them?

I understand how you can feel this way and this particular prosecution, a civil one, might strengthen such feelings. But I strongly reject this as an explanation or complaint regarding the more serious charges Trump faces: in particular the federal January 6 prosecution and the Georgia prosecution. In those cases if Trump was NOT charged then IMO the pendulum would swing in the other direction- he would be getting away with crimes against this country that others would not. I think they HAD to charge him.

In all seriousness I have though. Your “solution” to undocumented immigrants in this country is terrible, unworkable, dumb, and anti-American. I demonstrated all of this to my own satisfaction.

That post was made in fun, more towards Strike than you. I thought it should be obvious by its tone that I wasn’t taking myself too seriously. Basically just some smack talking.

I was wrong when I wrote that it was about tax fraud. I was confusing it with another case. I do try and admit my errors when they occur. I am curious: do you believe this particular case is an unjust prosecution of Donald Trump? I am more open to that argument than I was a little while ago, though I’m still not sure.

I have not, in this forum, invited discussion about my family. I did in a previous forum, and regretted it only after idiots like you chose to use what I wrote to make personal attacks. That you’re continuing to do so here demonstrates what kind of person you are; it’s no reflection on me.
