The bill to impeach Mayorkis just failed by two votes. This is a major embarrassment for Mike Johnson. Nancy Pelosi never brought a vote to the floor that she thought might fail. What a joke.

In all seriousness: California certainly has its problems but we’re only going to get wealthier long term. Many reasons for this but the main one is that the United States trade with Asia is at the beginning stage, and is going to explode in the decades to come. California is at the center of that trade. We are the marketplace of the world. Trade and energy- this is the future of the world’s economy. Nothing else really matters.

I stopped here. It’s not happening. Not in Southern California anyhow. Not in most of Northern California either.

Thats not the issue that’s bothering me. And I don’t mind this woman being held to a certain level of responsibility: civil. What bothers me is the prison time. This mom acted irresponsibly but she clearly did not intend for her son to go on a shooting spree. Yet she’s going to prison. I’m not comfortable with that. But I’m also not saying it’s wrong. Well I’m not really a slippery slope kind of guy but it seems a little problematic to me. If my 16 year old son is an alcoholic and he drives while drunk and kills somebody, am I responsible if I had liquor around in my house? Is that a decent analogy?

You’re not a fan of ALL numbers. Because if you include Obama and Bush years in that list, you will discover that Trump’s policies to contain illegal immigration were completely ineffective, AND Biden’s polices have had nothing to do with the explosion that has taken place in the last few years. But those numbers wouldn’t help your cause would they?

Good question. Biden takes his case to the American people. This mess might have to wait until he gets re-elected and the House is Democrat again. That’s only 10 months away. Then we’ll fix everything. Hopefully Ukraine can hold on that long. When Republicans decide to stop being children again they can come back to the grownup’s table and offer real input.

Biden wants to fix the crisis at the border, Republicans don’t. Pretty simple message that will resonate with the American people. The Trumpheads won’t buy it but when have they ever listened to reason anyhow? Guys like @Strike here hate it because it’s not cruel enough for him. Oh well.

Of the 10-15 awful hateful ridiculous unworkable and terrible things that you want to have happen with regard to the border, this bill would only accomplish about 3-4 of them. The other 10 or so aren’t done so that’s probably why you don’t like it.

He has to appeal on Tuesday. And then the Supreme Court has to decide by Tuesday whether or not to accept the case- no longer. There’s a lot of thought that they won’t. So this could go very quickly. Even if the SC takes up the case their decision would be June at the latest which means a trial by September.

I would have said 50/50 before this morning. Now I think it’s gone up to about 80/20. I’m expecting a trial in the next 2-3 months- and a conviction.
