There’s a few other differences too. Suppose Hillary had demanded Joe Biden, the Vice President in 2016, not to certify the election result. And when Biden refused, Hillary publicly called him a coward and a traitor. Suppose Hillary then gave a rally and urged her followers to descend on Congress. Suppose Hillary’s followers broke into Congress shouting “Hang Joe Biden!” If any of this had happened Hillary Clinton would be in jail right now. Rightfully so.

It’s a dangerous lie, far more dangerous than any lie Biden has ever told. It may lead to violence. If you can’t see the difference between what Trump is doing here and any other politician, then I can’t possibly help you.

Amazing. Actually you’re right. Trump is on his own unique level for an American political figure. You can’t really compare him to Biden or anyone else who has ever lived in this country with the possible exception of Joseph R. McCarthy. In historical terms Trump ranks as a liar among the likes of Hitler or Stalin- he is certainly not a mass murderer like they were but in terms of lying almost 100% of the time on every issue under the sun those are the only two guys I can think of who rival him in history.

The result of such bans will be, IMO, that some of these teenagers will run away from home to seek help in another state, and some of them will kill themselves. I am not necessarily opposed to banning the surgery for minors. But this issue needs to be addressed with much more compassion and understanding rather than intolerance and religious morality.

For example, in Nevada Trump leads by a whopping 12 points. Yet at the the same time Jackie Rosen, the Democratic senator, is ahead by 2 points over her Republican rival. Thats a swing of 14 points which means, if true, that 14% of Nevada voters are going to vote for Jackie Rosen AND Donald Trump?? I’m not buying it. I’m not saying that Trump isn’t clearly ahead but something isn’t right about these numbers.

Somewhat accurate, but Dershowitz’s biggest reason for the change has to do with his support for Israel. I think I understand this because my late father also felt betrayed by the Democratic Party on this issue in his last few years. Conservatives love quoting guys like Maher and Dershowitz just as liberals love quoting Never Trumper conservatives like Liz Cheney or Mitt Romney. It’s a way for each side to tell ourselves “look how extreme the other side has gotten- even so and so has said it!”

Your points here are not completely wrong. There have been plenty of flaws with the way Democrats have handled things. I disagree with you that they have made things worse. I think spending money has, overall, made things much better. Just not fast enough, because (a) not enough has been spent and (b) a lot of it has been spent stupidly. But by far the biggest part you got wrong is what I bolded: “doing it the way the Republicans suggest.” The problem is they don’t suggest anything, not anymore. There are no Jack Kemps in the GOP, haven’t been for years. All the Republicans under Trump do is oppose. They’re against all of it and have no helpful counter proposals. Trump, as I wrote, wants to give more power to the police.

More federal spending in general in the inner cities: Biden and the Democrats are in favor, Trump and the Republicans are opposed. 2. More federal spending on public education in the inner cities: Biden and the Democrats are in favor, Trump and the Republicans are opposed. 3. Federal regulations in order to combat systemic racism by police in this country: Biden and the Democrats are in favor; Trump and the Republicans are opposed. (In addition Trump wants to move in the opposite direction by giving cops a “free hand” to do whatever they want.) 4. Federal regulation in order to combat several southern states attempts to weaken the Voting Rights Act in order to weaken black voting: Biden and the Democrats are in favor, Trump and the Republicans are opposed.

It’s not bigotry. It’s actually a compliment. I don’t believe that most Trump supporters are racist. I don’t believe they’re stupid either. So I’m left with blindly being in a cult, or not really paying attention, which is pretty much the same difference.

And you know why it’s so many times? Because conservatives let him get away with it every time. No matter what the guy does you blindly support him anyhow. There is no political figure in American history who has gotten away with more corruption and illegal acts than Donald Trump and it’s not even close. Those of us who are not conservative look on in frustration and horror, but there’s not much we can do about it if half the nation seems to be in this cult.
