What should we do about the drone attack in Jordan?
The Real timschochet replied to The Real timschochet's topic in The Geek Club
Under Biden oil production in this country has increased far more than it ever did under Trump: https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2023/12/31/us-oil-production-has-hit-record-under-biden-he-hardly-mentions-it/ But in terms of this discussion it really doesn’t make any difference. We need the Middle East oil flow to be stable. -
The U.S. national debt is at $34,135,530,482,291 and rapidly growing

I honestly can’t recall one proposal from Trump, when he was President, that involved reducing the deficit in any way. You’re welcome to offer one. -

For about the last 50 years or so. We could change that but it would take a lot of effort, money and time. It’s not something we can change overnight. -

The reason we have troops in the Middle East is because our economy depends on a stable flow of oil from that region. -

Trump did not try to reduce spending or address the deficit in any way. -

Of course it’s a problem. But it can only be addressed by cutting military spending, or Social Security, or Medicare, or raising taxes. Thats it. Those are your 4 choices. You could eliminate everything that conservatives typically complain about and you wouldn’t make the slightest dent. OR- you could try and grow our economy so that the deficit and debt become less significant. How do we grow the economy? We invest in infrastructure, which Biden has done. We invest in viable new energy sources (see-nuclear fusion) which neither party seems willing to do. And you expand trade by eliminating tariffs, which Biden will not do and which Trump will only make worse. -

Why do conservatives only care about this issue when a Democrat is President? -
Do liberals still think that covid didn't come from the Wuhan lab that Fauci was funding?
The Real timschochet replied to Frozenbeernuts's topic in The Geek Club
Not in the clear and direct way you’re claiming. And it also says the letter is filled with inaccuracies. Read it again, and then consider your own tendency to make snap judgments before you insult others. -

Theres actually quite a bit of question about this. You’re buying into the conservative narrative completely. It has been challenged again and again: https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2021/10/29/repeated-claim-that-fauci-lied-congress-about-gain-of-function-research/ That’s one of the best articles I can remember reading about it. This is a complicated subject. The NIH letter, which conservatives have tried to use as proof of Fauci’s complicity, doesn’t say what they claim it does. -

But am I wrong? I don’t think I am. How does that article implicate Dr. Fauci? -

It doesn’t put anything to bed. It certainly raises questions but none that lead to the accusations against Fauci that have been made here and elsewhere. -
That was his fault, his worst play of the game. But over all he wasn’t terrible.
-
Lamar wasn’t great but he wasn’t terrible either. This loss isn’t on him, but idiots who know very little about football will blame him. Baltimore lost because they were out coached, because KC played great defense, because Travis Kelce was spectacular in the first half, and because some of the Ravens played really stupid (especially Flowers). None of that has anything to do with Lamar Jackson. If you think it does you are not very smart.

Gender affirming care increases suicide?

You thought it helped. And yet you’re quoting a very dubious anti-trans source. In another thread you claimed to be a life long Democrat but that you’ll be forced to vote for Trump. Forgive my skepticism. -
I really like the debut.
-
Back to the topic: love Lamar. Can’t stand the Ravens. My dream scenario today is that Lamar plays great but that the Ravens lose anyhow:

Details released on bipartisan immigration bill that MAGAturds don't want because it vaporizes a Clownzo campaign issue
The Real timschochet replied to Pimpadeaux's topic in The Geek Club
I want to do everything humane to limit illegal immigration at the current time, because the numbers are too large. But I don’t believe that illegal immigration, as a general rule, is a negative for this country. I honestly believe it’s a positive overall. You’re welcome to disagree with this, but please don’t question my love for America and I won’t question yours. -

The Real timschochet replied to Dizkneelande's topic in The Geek Club
Nope. We’ve looked enough into it. Time to invest. And there is no “you guys”. Believe me I wish there were. But when I discuss this subject with my liberal friends they express a fear and ignorance that is depressing and frightening. I can’t find any that agree with me. I have conservative friends who agree with me on nuclear energy in general but balk at the investment involved. So I seem to be alone on this one. I’d love to see a mass movement but it ain’t happening. -

I think it’s fine. People insult each other. Who cares? I’ve been called every ugly name there is. I’m sure you have to. If you’re somebody who is bothered that somebody called you names on a message board, you’re a very weak and weird person. The insults don’t bother me but they do bore me. Especially when they get in the way of what might otherwise be a pretty decent discussion and debate. That happens here sometimes but not as often as it should because there are some folks who just want to troll and call each other names. So I wish we had a little less of that. But I’ll never report anyone unless they post personal info about me. That’s unacceptable. -

You really think Joe Bryant cared what I thought? OK sure.
