Thanks again. Well, first off of course I disagree with you on Biden’s bill which I think was mostly good spending, I think Tim Scott is completely wrong. In any event, and this is a point that I have made to you before, I believe it’s far too early to accurately the judge the effects of Biden’s spending bills. We won’t see how those affected the economy for years to come. It’s certainly flawed logic, IMO, to attempt to tie any spending that Biden has done to inflation, which is world wide since Covid. I agree that Biden’s spending bill was misnamed but that’s a minor issue. Moving on to Trump, I asked you what policies he enacted that led to good times. Most of what you listed were results that occurred during his time in office, not policies put forth by him. I would argue that most of these results were tied to policies put forth by Obama- again it always takes a few years. As zi go down your list pretty much the only specific policy you can point to was the tax cut. This provided, I believe, short term gains but they were pretty illusory. We are paying for that tax cut now in terms of greater deficits which has made it more difficult for us to tackle the inflation issue. So in conclusion I find your thinking wrong on this. Not that it will help Biden because it appears that far more of the public agree with you rather than me on these issues.

Well you were only specific about one of them: Jackson’s response about what a woman is. The question was political; her answer IMO was not. I can’t comment on RBG or Sotomayor because I don’t know what you’re referring to.

Putting aside all other issues, I don’t think Supreme Court justices should be flying flags or messages that express strong political statements. Not a good look. What should be done about it, no idea.

I actually have to agree with most of the conservatives posting in this thread. People are not happy about the economy and you can’t tell them they’re happy when they’re not. There is a sense of anxiousness. Biden needs to continue to point out that things have improved since 2020. He needs to highlight the things he has done that most Americans approve of (like the infrastructure bill, and negotiating down drug prices.) And he needs to emphasize all of the terrible policies that Trump enacted as President. But what he CAN’T do is go around saying “hey everything is just fine!” because that will lose.

And in 20 years from now most of them deny it, pretend it never happened. You may deny it as well.

I don’t need to clarify. His statement was very clear.Most of his statements are. It’s you that need to clarify, to parse his words so that you can pretend he didn’t mean what he really meant. It’s accurate enough. Trump is telling his donors he “barely escaped death”. I don’t understand why you’re parsing his words. What he said was really awful and dangerous.

There’s a few other differences too. Suppose Hillary had demanded Joe Biden, the Vice President in 2016, not to certify the election result. And when Biden refused, Hillary publicly called him a coward and a traitor. Suppose Hillary then gave a rally and urged her followers to descend on Congress. Suppose Hillary’s followers broke into Congress shouting “Hang Joe Biden!” If any of this had happened Hillary Clinton would be in jail right now. Rightfully so.

It’s a dangerous lie, far more dangerous than any lie Biden has ever told. It may lead to violence. If you can’t see the difference between what Trump is doing here and any other politician, then I can’t possibly help you.

Amazing. Actually you’re right. Trump is on his own unique level for an American political figure. You can’t really compare him to Biden or anyone else who has ever lived in this country with the possible exception of Joseph R. McCarthy. In historical terms Trump ranks as a liar among the likes of Hitler or Stalin- he is certainly not a mass murderer like they were but in terms of lying almost 100% of the time on every issue under the sun those are the only two guys I can think of who rival him in history.

The result of such bans will be, IMO, that some of these teenagers will run away from home to seek help in another state, and some of them will kill themselves. I am not necessarily opposed to banning the surgery for minors. But this issue needs to be addressed with much more compassion and understanding rather than intolerance and religious morality.

For example, in Nevada Trump leads by a whopping 12 points. Yet at the the same time Jackie Rosen, the Democratic senator, is ahead by 2 points over her Republican rival. Thats a swing of 14 points which means, if true, that 14% of Nevada voters are going to vote for Jackie Rosen AND Donald Trump?? I’m not buying it. I’m not saying that Trump isn’t clearly ahead but something isn’t right about these numbers.

Somewhat accurate, but Dershowitz’s biggest reason for the change has to do with his support for Israel. I think I understand this because my late father also felt betrayed by the Democratic Party on this issue in his last few years. Conservatives love quoting guys like Maher and Dershowitz just as liberals love quoting Never Trumper conservatives like Liz Cheney or Mitt Romney. It’s a way for each side to tell ourselves “look how extreme the other side has gotten- even so and so has said it!”
