US Representatives Engage in Cat Fight

I consider that a compliment. Because you’re talking about the pro-America Kool-Aid, pro-freedom Kool-Aid. So thank you. -
Pelosi: Populism is a Threat to Democracy
The Real timschochet replied to jonmx's topic in The Geek Club
I don’t even like state ballot initiatives. It’s not what the Founders had in mind. The public is not supposed to vote on issues. -
Pelosi: Populism is a Threat to Democracy

lol I’m in the minority all the time. But honestly it’s a pointless discussion. Even if every Democrat in this country wanted to get rid of the electoral college they still couldn’t do it. It would be even more difficult than an impeachment and removal, and THAT’S proven impossible. The Constitution is here to stay, there will be no further amendments in our lifetimes. -

Not for me. Totally opposed to getting rid of the electoral college -

Presley bothers me. The Squad bothers me. But right now our democracy is threatened by Trump and the right. The right currently opposes everything I believe in: immigration, freedom, globalism, individual rights, all of the principles which make this country great. The Squad and the other leftists are on the good side of these issues, fighting the good fight. Too many Americans aren’t. -
When does Biden get impeached for withholding aid to Isreal?

Love Sedona. What a gorgeous place to be. -

They’re leftists. Not particularly sleazy, though. -
In the immortal words of Peyton Manning: What has the sports world come to when we’re talking about the words of idiot kickers?

Sure. Comer, Maxine Waters, Greene, Jordan, Boebert. I’m sure I’m missing a few (dozen). -

It’s hard to stay serious in that committee with those clowns. Comer might be the biggest sleazebag in all of Congress (though he’s got a lot of competition.) -
Supreme Court thinks 2020 election stolen
The Real timschochet replied to The Psychic Observer's topic in The Geek Club
I’m not convinced, from the article, that Alito believed the election was stolen. Personally I wasn’t aware that flying the flag upside down was a sign of the “stop the steal” movement and I follow the news pretty closely. There may have been another reason the flag was flying that way. Or maybe not. I have no idea. Neither, at this time, does anyone else here. -

Greene is an idiot. But talk about an overreaction. Just ignore her. -
Trump talk only- no Eagles talk allowed (Steelers talk is OK though)

Nah. You get prepared statement and then rebuttal statement, follow up questions by the journalists. There’s plenty of debate in there, -
Trump's NY Election Interference Trial - Trump is found guilty on all 34 counts

You really shouldn’t be criticizing anyone else for wasting time every day. I’ve often get ripped for spending too much time on these boards and it’s a fair criticism, but I can’t hold a candle to you. Sometimes I leave this forum for several hours or even days and no matter when I choose to return the one constant I can count on is that you’re here posting. That’s your business but again, criticizing others for wasting time is rather ridiculous coming from you. -

That’s one phone call in which he may or may not have talked to Trump. But so what? We already have the tape of the White House conversation in which Trump clearly knows about the payment to Stormy Daniels and how it’s going to be refunded. The defense is going to have a really hard time arguing that Trump knew nothing about this. It just won’t fly. -
I believe that transsexuals should be granted full recognition by society as the sex they have chosen with only a few slight exceptions, the ones you listed, I regard my personal reaction to them as a negative flaw on my part, not something I’m proud of, and I would like to see a society that is far more loving and accepting than I have been. And I strongly reject the inference that there is something mentally wrong with these people as ignorant of scientific consensus and frankly bigoted. Does this sound like JK Rowling’s position to you?

IMO, I am convinced a fraudulent act occurred and that Donald Trump committed it. The only question I still have is: is it a felony? The prosecution hasn’t quite explained that yet. I imagine they will attempt to do so in their summation. They need to explain how election interference of this sort is an actual felonious crime which would make the falsifying of records more than a misdemeanor. If they can make a convincing argument then I’m sold. If they can’t, I would be forced to acquit Trump if I were on the jury. -

Robert Costello is the Giuliani lawyer who, according to Cohen, warned Cohen not to “flip”, right? If his testimony before Congress truly destroys Cohen, then surely the defense will call him as a witness right? Let’s see if they do. The problem with the article that @jerryskids posted, from everything else I’ve read, is that Cohem’s testimony is corroborated by Pecker and the other witnesses and the tape with Trump’s voice on it. But beyond that it doesn’t make any sense. If Cohen paid Daniels of his own volition, why would Trump repay it? And then why try to explain it away as a “legal expense”? Coven’s description of the crime is the only one that makes logical sense- unless of course Trump wants to take the stand and tell us what really happened. -
That has nothing to do with Harry Potter.
-
Umm no. The first Harry Potter book was published in 1997. The religious controversy began around 1999 and reached its height, among evangelicals, around 2004- exactly 20 years ago: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Religious_debates_over_the_Harry_Potter_series So you got this wrong. But I know it wasn’t deliberate on your part. Shall I call you a liar?
-
I’m not analyzing anyone or trying to parse hidden motives. Just taking folks at their word.
-
It is amusing that about 20 years ago all of the religious conservatives hated Rowling- her work was regarded as “devil worship.” Now that she has turned out to be a bigot they suddenly are celebrating her.
-
Roald Dahl, of Willie Wonka fame, was a bigot as well. So was HP Lovecraft, Ezra Pound, TS Eliot, the list goes on. Sometimes the folks with the best imaginations are pretty awful people.

lol it’s not uncomfortable at all. And you’re doing it again- trying to tell me what I think and feel. The reason it’s not uncomfortable is because it’s wrong. I don’t hate any politicians in this country, certainly not Donald Trump. I don’t take any political positions for the purpose of virtue signaling or to impress others. I believe what I believe. Of course I can’t speak for anyone else. Unlike you I don’t try.
