Unfortunately (for me anyhow) this will likely help Trump. What most people forget about the 60s college protests is that they were never popular with the American public- that’s why Nixon won in 1968, and after Kent State Nixon won in a landslide in 1972. The public sees stuff like this and they demand law and order and tough treatment. In a contest between Biden and Trump, that means Trump. Hope to hell I’m wrong about this…

This accusation seems so ironic to me. On just about every issue that I debate with conservatives, including this one, I am always on the side of nuance. It is conservatives, including most of those in this forum, who prefer to see the world in black and white terms. And as I wrote, that includes this issue. Other than your last post I challenge you to find anyone that has disagreed with me in this thread who has relied on any nuance whatsoever. 99% of the posts here back the police regardless of the details.

I don’t have the answers here for you. But it sure seems to me that you’re basically digging for details that will somehow refute the narrative that there is systemic racism among police who encounter black people on a regular basis. I can’t help you with that. i related that story as honestly as i can remember it. At first i wrote that it happened a few years ago but the more I thought about it, it was actually 20 years ago. Lol I’m about twice as smart as anyone here arguing with me. I listen to Trump. He doesn’t want to give “qualified” immunity whatever that means; he wants to give immunity period. He wants cops to rough people up. Yes he would pardon Chauvin if he could and any other bad cop. That is because Trump wants an authoritarian dictatorship, and many of his followers want one to. Do you know why you regard me as an insufferable ass? Because I’m telling you truths you don’t want to hear. You would rather stick your head in the sand and deny reality. Thats OK. My hope is that I never have to prove to you how right I was because hopefully Trump will get his butt kicked in November and then you guys can go back to whining about how terrible the liberals in charge are. As usual you completely misrepresent what I wrote. I never wrote every cop, I wrote that it’s true as a general rule, meaning it’s a pattern, meaning that the racism is SYSTEMIC. That’s the part you won’t accept. But that’s OK. I remain an optimist. One of the great things about society is that we move forward. This is where I disagree with leftists: I think we’re getting better as a society on this issue just as we are on most every issue. But electing a President who pledges to give police immunity for bad behavior would be moving backwards.

You’re not black, right? If you’re not then forgive me but your experiences with police are totally irrelevant (as our mine.) The whole point is that they don’t treat everyone the same.
