First off I want conservatives to acknowledge that there is still institutionalized racism in this country against black people, and the worst of it is from police. Then we can discuss what’s to be done about it.

No it’s not a lie. Nor is it something I made up, nor something I’ve read on Pravda or far left sites. It’s been demonstrated over and over and over by numerous studies and reports by respectable sources. You can disagree with them all if you like but then realize that your opinion flies in the face of the strong majority of reputable information.

I’ve never understood why this is relevant. Michael Brown (the guy killed in Ferguson) was a total thug. Rodney King was a druggie who resisted arrest. The point has never been that these folks aren’t usually bad dudes. The point is that police are supposed to behave in a certain manner, and when it comes to young black men, they often don’t. There is no excuse for police mistreatment no matter how terrible the victim of it has been. If we turn our backs and say it’s OK for police to treat these folks badly because they deserve it (which Donald Trump is campaigning on, BTW) then we are opening the door for unlimited police power- not just against really bad guys but against everyone.

One of your worst attributes, above and beyond your penchant for insane conspiracies, is your insistence on telling others what they think. I already told you what I think. This isn’t a sham. Trump paid off these women in order to hide them from the American people in order to win an election. Thats illegal. It’s not something that other people do all the time. It’s against the law, and he deserves to be prosecuted for it, IMO. You can disagree with what I believe but stop trying to tell me I don’t believe it.

It’s actually been rising lately. But you’re right it’s historically low. Think how embarrassing it will be for Trump when Biden wins anyhow. And it will be even more embarrassing for you. I have written many times that any Republican not named Donald Trump would have won against Biden fairly easily. But you had to choose Trump as your guy. You chose the ONE DUDE Biden will beat. You’ll never outlive the shame of it.

This is inaccurate as well. I tended to believe the cop in Ferguson as probably guilty of murder but I wrote at the time that there was no way to prove it and so I would never have charged him with anything. That’s still my position. What you have constantly ignored over the years is that right after this event occurred, there was a study of police practices in Ferguson and they were found to be terribly racist. Stuff like that just passes you by and never makes any impression. So please don’t lecture me about deaf ears.

Lots of projecting in this thread what liberals want and what I want. Almost all of it is inaccurate. Why not stick to responding to what I’ve written rather than trying to fathom my motives? I’ve been pretty clear about my motives and you’re not describing them.

And FTR I don’t regard most of you guys who disagree with me on this as racist. You disagree with me that these incidents in general have a racial element to them, and you disagree with me that the police in general treat young black males differently. That’s fine. We can disagree in good faith, even if I contend that the facts and statistics are on my side. I would never label anyone a racist because he disagrees with me on this issue. @iam90sbaby is, IMO, a clear racist.

Sorry not trying to do you any favors: it is simply untrue that blacks and whites are treated the same by police.

In the end, people who want to interact with me (like you) will do so. Those that don’t, won’t. Makes no difference where I post. If I’m a snowflake then I guess you’re attracted to the change of weather. Now as to your earlier point: I believe racism is central to what happened here. Although there are also instances of white people being mistreated and sometimes dying at the hands of police, I think it happens more often to young black men. I can show you studies and statistics about this but I won’t- I’d you’re interested you can read about them yourself. There have been so many of these studies and nothing ever happens.

Sure but having that view doesn’t make one a Marxist. It’s certainly a view SHARED by Marxists, but the difference is these kids don’t want to reshape society in a Marxist fashion. They just want the perceived oppression to end.

In the end this is always the argument offered by most conservatives. And it always translates to “they brought it on themselves”. No recognition or acknowledgment that racism is involved, that blacks are treated differently from anyone else in these situations. Of course not. They brought it on themselves.

Marxists have no hold on our young people. Your concern is misplaced. Trust me, young folks love capitalism as much as the rest of us. They want to graduate, make a good living, and enjoy their pleasures. This is an issue by issue thing. Solve the issue and you remove the protest.

1000 in the last decade. And aren’t you one of the folks around here who bring up violence caused by undocumented immigrants? Statistically that’s almost non-existent. Yet that is a problem and this isn’t. Get the Fock out of here.
