“I Can’t Breathe” Yet another black man dies at the hands of police

And FTR I don’t regard most of you guys who disagree with me on this as racist. You disagree with me that these incidents in general have a racial element to them, and you disagree with me that the police in general treat young black males differently. That’s fine. We can disagree in good faith, even if I contend that the facts and statistics are on my side. I would never label anyone a racist because he disagrees with me on this issue. @iam90sbaby is, IMO, a clear racist.

That would be new for you.

I’m sure you’ll be able to find posts of mine in which I advocate getting rid of the police.

Taking a break. This is an amusing response.

Everyone has the ability to do this if they want. Or just not read my posts or respond to them. I will be busy at work for the rest of the day so forgive me if I don’t quickly respond to you. If anyone has a direct question for me, rather than an attack or personal insult, I will try to respond later on tonight. Cheers.

Sorry not trying to do you any favors: it is simply untrue that blacks and whites are treated the same by police.

In the end, people who want to interact with me (like you) will do so. Those that don’t, won’t. Makes no difference where I post. If I’m a snowflake then I guess you’re attracted to the change of weather. Now as to your earlier point: I believe racism is central to what happened here. Although there are also instances of white people being mistreated and sometimes dying at the hands of police, I think it happens more often to young black men. I can show you studies and statistics about this but I won’t- I’d you’re interested you can read about them yourself. There have been so many of these studies and nothing ever happens.
  8. Sure but having that view doesn’t make one a Marxist. It’s certainly a view SHARED by Marxists, but the difference is these kids don’t want to reshape society in a Marxist fashion. They just want the perceived oppression to end.

Hey man nobody is forcing you to read this or comment.

Because it does. And I’ll get over the racism when it stops.

In the end this is always the argument offered by most conservatives. And it always translates to “they brought it on themselves”. No recognition or acknowledgment that racism is involved, that blacks are treated differently from anyone else in these situations. Of course not. They brought it on themselves.
  12. Marxists have no hold on our young people. Your concern is misplaced. Trust me, young folks love capitalism as much as the rest of us. They want to graduate, make a good living, and enjoy their pleasures. This is an issue by issue thing. Solve the issue and you remove the protest.

1000 in the last decade. And aren’t you one of the folks around here who bring up violence caused by undocumented immigrants? Statistically that’s almost non-existent. Yet that is a problem and this isn’t. Get the Fock out of here.

Oh and being held on the ground with a knee to his back. Stop making excuses for bad cops.
  15. The solution in this case is for Israel to stop pulling the crap they’re pulling. Stop killing children, stop preventing aid to Gaza, stop allowing Jewish settlers to go crazy, stop with the settlements altogether, and work towards establishing a Palestinian state. That will stop the protests, make Israel safer, and ultimately defeat Hamas.
  16. Trump doesn’t need to plan naps. The trial has started so he’s probably nodding off right now.
  17. I never mentioned slavery. You did. The issue of white oppression of the third world is a separate issue from slavery and is actually more contemporary.
  18. Slightly ahead. The polls will swing back and forth until Labor Day. At that point I expect Biden to take a small but decisive lead that will last until the end.
  19. I agree. But unfortunately even if Trump is silenced the right wing media, led by Fox News, won’t be. So the danger will continue nonetheless.
  20. I didn’t say that all the guilt was justified. I only wrote that this is how liberal white students feel. Do you deny they feel this way? The question of justification is one we can debate elsewhere if you’d like.
  21. Of course they’re in danger. The death threats have already come and they’re no joke. Who knows what some nut is going to do- look what happened to Paul Pelosi. Trump encourages violence among his followers. The judge has delayed this, IMO, because he is concerned that putting Trump in jail might only make things worse. But Trump has committed contempt and really does deserve a jail cell. So it’s a tough decision.
  22. You’re never going to find those clips, because the students I mentioned aren’t in leadership roles and they tend to go along with the leadership because they (the leaders) are the ones organizing the protests and the students I am discussing want to be part of the protests. And why are they protesting this when they could be preferring civilians being killed elsewhere? Two reasons, IMO: first because it’s in the news. Second, just as with Apartheid in the 80s, Israel represents the western white oppressor of the Third World (there is much irony to this point but it would take too long to discuss it here. Nonetheless, the fact is that liberal students tend to feel guilty about how white people in general have treated the rest of the world throughout history.) None of this is new; we saw it all during the Vietnam War protests. Keep in mind that the leaders of those protests were radical leftists who openly advocated for a violent revolution in this country and a socialist regime along the lines of Maoist China. But most of the students who took part just wanted the war to end. Nonetheless they shouted radical slogans. When the war petered out the radical leaders found themselves without any followers. My theory is that if the Gaza war ended tomorrow, so would these protests. The ones shouting anti-Semitic slogans, praising Hamas and wearing masks would still be around but they would number in the dozens, not thousands. The large bulk of students involved would be back in class.
  23. I can only say that I honestly believe that Trump is guilty of most of the crimes he has been accused of, and therefore the purpose of the indictments is not political but justice.
  24. Trump’s lawyers argument seems to be that we should rely on impeachment. But impeachment has become a political act (maybe it always was.) At this point very few senators from the same party as the President is ever going to vote to impeach any President- and that basically means that impeachment is for show only and will never result in a removal. Therefore it seems to me that if we give a President immunity for all official acts we are giving him or her unlimited power. And I don’t think that’s what the Founders envisioned. Again, I’m neither a lawyer nor a Constitutional scholar but this seems like common sense to me.
  25. Maybe not in those instances but I don’t think a President should be immune from prosecution for all official acts. For example, part of Nixon’s crime was using the FBI and Justice Department to cover up the Watergate scandal. I don’t think anyone could argue that using the FBI is a private act,
