Trump's NY Election Interference Trial - Trump is found guilty on all 34 counts
The Real timschochet replied to squistion's topic in The Geek Club
I don’t think so. If he speaks out of turn, makes insulting gestures, that’s disrespect. If he sits quietly and bothers nobody, who cares if he’s looking at a phone, or reading a book, or magazine? -

If it makes noise that’s one thing and then sure confiscate it. But if it’s on silent I just don’t get why it should be a big deal. -

You know, there is so much to criticize Trump about but I’m not going to do it here. Because I get it. I hate not being able to use my phone in a courtroom, or anywhere else where I have to wait a long time and it’s boring as hell. I‘m not bothering anybody, so who cares? It’s stupid. -
It certainly is. But…The Green Burrito? That’s a chain connected to Carls Jr. You sure you’re not thinking of somewhere else? We have all kinds of awesome Mexican food but The Green Burrito ain’t it.

And Trump does need to be jailed. Tonight he posted Jesse Watter’s lame accusation that the jurors already chosen are all liberal plants with the collusion of the judge. Thats in clear violation of the gag order. He has to be punished. -

They keep discussing on TV how the judge can jail Trump for contempt of court with his Secret Service detail. It seems to me the answer, for now, is house arrest. -

If they’re Scandinavian? Nothing. But if their skin is a little darker he doesn’t want them. -

@jon_mx is correct. The number of black voters supporting Trump has increased. The polls definitely show this. And if these numbers are actually representative of what happens in November, Biden is in real trouble. But I don’t think they will be. Between now and November Biden will have to work some at getting these voters back but I’m pretty sure he will. I’m frankly more concerned about Latino voters. They’re the ones leaving the Democratic Party in droves. They need to be reminded that Trump won’t do them any favors. -

I’m actually pretty impressed by the speed in which they’re getting jurors. Everyone says it would take at least 2 weeks. Now it looks like opening statements might begin next week. -
How do you feel about immigration?

It’s important too to remember the context of The River War- Churchill attempting to justify Kitchener’s imperialism in Sudan. -

@jerryskids there is probably no person in modern world history that I admire more than Winston Churchill. And no I don’t believe his comments that you quoted are racist. (Churchill did make racist comments elsewhere, unfortunately, but these don’t apply.) Racism doesn’t occur when you describe negative characteristics of a group of people who believe the same thing, as Churchill did here. It occurs when you describe negative characteristics of a group of people based not on their beliefs, but on their skin color or ethnicity. And bigotry occurs in both cases if you take these negative characteristics and ascribe them to any individual of that group. With regard to my last sentence- if you say, “here is a Muslim country, I don’t like their beliefs, I don’t want those beliefs brought over here”, there is nothing wrong with that sentiment. But if you say “here is a family of refugees or immigrants from that Muslim country, they might share that countries’ beliefs which I don’t like, so I don’t want these people here”, THAT is a bigoted attitude that I oppose. -

Because it’s sleazy and they were concerned with the political consequences. Doesn’t mean Bragg made the wrong decision. -

Political persecution my a$S. Next time don’t pay off porn stars right before an election. Lock up this motherfocker, seriously. -
Like most of you (I suspect) I have friends and family who are both liberal and conservative, and the most common reaction I am getting from them, with regard to Trump, is neither love nor hatred but fatigue. They are sick and tired of hearing about the guy, all the court cases, all the other stuff. I have no idea how this will affect November, if at all. Most conservatives who are sick of Trump aren’t exactly going to vote for Joe Biden or stay at home. But the weariness and desire to move on is certainly there. (To be fair many want to move on from Biden as well.)

If only the liberals didn't cheat in the 2020 election to have Biden in office. It would have been good for everyone.

I think what you’re trying to say is that he left behind a bunch of racist a$$holes pissed off about a black President, and THAT paved the way for Trump. -

Well we may have to cheat again to win this time. Myself I plan on voting early and often. Then I’m loading up a bus filled with undocumented immigrants and we’re driving to Nevada- it’s a swing state (California isn’t.) We will try to stop at every polling booth from Vegas to Reno. -
This is demonstrably the exact opposite of the truth, luckily for us so far. But we are in a very precarious situation, largely due to two men: Donald Trump, who foolishly ended the Iranian nuclear deal, and Netanyahu who for his own purposes wants the USA and Iran to be in a major war with each other. If this thing goes downhill they will be the ones to blame, though it won’t matter since we will all be screwed.

I do believe you about this part. I know that for many (most?) conservatives the support for Trump is largely transactional and there are many like you who see it as a big fock you to liberals. I get that. Even with those that claim to love Trump, a lot of it is shtick (at least around here.)
