You answered your own question. Because we butted into them for decades. You break it you buy it. We are a big part of the reason that these countries are such a mess. But even if that were not the case, investment makes sense because look at the alternative. Poverty stricken countries sending millions of people in this direction to avoid starvation. Walls and better security and deportation might slow them down some, while costing us billions and forcing us to lose our identity as a great nation. But it won’t stop them. It won’t solve the problem.

Our job is to save America from your kind, and to save your asses as well, so that you can keep complaining and whining while we do all the heavy lifting. That’s OK though.

I don’t see it. I think Biden has been pretty good for America. But I get that many here will disagree and I can respect that; we can have a difference of opinion about that. But Donald Trump is a corrupt authoritarian incompetent buffoon, a criminal who belongs in prison, a bigot and xenophobe who plays to America’s worst instincts. It’s not even comparable.

So depressing. I just don’t get it. I can understand why a bigot or a moron or someone who doesn’t pay much attention would vote for Trump. You strike me as none of these. How could any rational, thinking, aware person do this?

No it isn’t. Almost all of this is rehearsed and carefully orchestrated…Iran needs to save face after the strike in Syria 2 weeks ago. But they’re not going to attack Israeli civilians anywhere because they don’t want anything to get out of hand…neither do we. But it does make the point- we are fortunate to have a rational leader in charge of this country who is not impulsive. I’m not saying Trump would cause WWIII- he’s a coward and would likely crawl under his bed if faced with this sort of emergency. But it’s nice to have competence even so.

When you read those articles you might want to pay special attention to the effects of climate change on corn and bean production, the two main crops in much of Latin America. In basic terms what’s happening is the changing weather patterns are creating crop shortages which drives rural people into the big cities: internal migration. This creates shortages and poverty and leads to external migration. We’re only getting a very small portion of the influx so far. But it’s going to explode.

This is a very depressing response. Especially when you claim that bringing up climate change makes “an unserious poster.” There is no more serious issue that we face, and it’s the main driving force for migration from Latin America to here.

Fun fact: back in the 90s, Chemerinsky was one of two lawyers who appeared on radio shows here locally (Southern Cal) and argued over whatever was the topic of the day. They called themselves “The Smart Guys.,” The other lawyer? John Eastman.

Let’s try this a different way: if you think Joe Biden is responsible for our current inflation, please explain what he’s doing to cause it, what he should be doing to stop it, and what Trump will do if he wins that will make things better.

Yes but soon the House will be Democrat, Trump will lose, and perhaps the MAGA types will disappear for good. We can only hope.
