No. It’s racist to say that immigrants from Africa, Asia, and Latin America are poisoning the blood of America. I’ve read your posts carefully Voltaire. I don’t think you’re racist at all. But you’re very conservative (actually very libertarian in some but not all respects) , and this causes you to defend Donald Trump from charges of racism. You shouldn’t do this; he is an extremely racist person, and he’s not really conservative at all.

Gotcha. So on issues you’re opposed to, like prohibiting Trump from being on the ballot, states have no right to supersede federal decisions. But on issues you’re in favor of, like fighting illegal immigration, states DO have the right to supersede federal decisions. Just keeping track, thanks.

It’s not a state crime. Texas has no power to enforce this. The Supreme Court has already ruled on this matter 10 years ago when Arizona attempted a similar law, and 20 years ago when California tried the same thing. I am agreeing with your statement that states don’t have the power to enforce federal laws. But conservatives keep trying it with regard to immigration issues, just as segregationists used to try and make the same arguments with regard to voting.

Not elections. But he has stated that he intends to arrest and deport undocumented immigrants, and just signed a law to this effect. That is correctly the role of the federal government- states have no power over immigration issues.

So I’m bothered by the decision for two reasons. The first I’ve already stated: people should have the right to vote for this idiot if they want to. Taking away that right seems inherently un-American to me. The second issue is this: Donald Trump has not been found guilty of the crime of insurrection in a court of law- not yet. Now personally I believe he IS guilty of that crime, and there’s going to be a court trial to determine this, and I think he will be convicted by a jury sometime next year. But that’s no sure thing and it hasn’t happened yet. How then can the Colorado Supreme Court determine that he’s already guilty? At best their ruling should be that IF he is found guilty THEN he is ineligible. But ruling that he’s ineligible now is putting the cart before the horse, IMO.

Not quite sure about this. Wasn’t this question what the Bush vs Gore decision was all about? Of course that was a 5-4 decision so apparently the SC isn’t quite sure about it either.

I also believe Trump when he says he’s never read Mein Kampf, despite the claims of his first wife. I strongly doubt Donald Trump has ever read anything in his life that was longer than a few pages.

This pretty much represents how I feel. I despise Trump, but people should have the right to vote for him. I really don’t like this.

If there is ever any evidence that Biden did what you accuse him of in your first paragraph regarding little girls that would end my support for him immediately. But it’s bullsh!t. No question that there is a double standard. But I think it’s just and deserved. Black people are allowed, at times, to make jokes that border on racism. White people can’t. Thats not unfair given our history that guys like you are so reluctant to acknowledge or agree to have taught.

A closer parallel is between the Islamists and folks here like @Cdub100, @iam90sbaby and @Casual Observer. In addition I would add that Trump’s racial bigotry and intolerance, and those of his most fervent followers, are much closer to the Islamist model than any advocate of Critical Race Theory.

The fact that most scientists don’t believe there is any connection between genetics of race and intelligence. Yet racists think there are. I’m hoping that you agree with the scientists and believe this is a matter of culture and not race. But you tell me.

I don’t know the answer to your question. There was a lot of speculation where Covid came from. I don’t know what the consensus was. Maybe they got that wrong I have no idea. Your point seems to be that therefore we should be skeptical of what scientists think in general. I disagree with that but if you feel that way fine, that’s why I asked my question. Please answer it.
